With all the Luftwaffe 08 FMs and TK's Spitfire FM that could maybe be applied to the DAT Mk1, we would only really need the Hurricane to be updated for it to be game on for an updated BoB campaign...

On 8 July 1948 the Heyl Ha'Avir had 60 aircraft, although only 9 could be considered to be combat types (S-199s). The B-17s arrived around 15 July and the first of the Spits flew on 23 July. By 17 September IAF strength was 92 aircraft, including 20 fighters and 3 bombers. During the course of the war 15-18 aircraft were downed by AAA or destroyed on the ground, 2 were shot down by enemy fighters, 34-38 were lost in operational accidents, and 2 were captured by enemy forces. 23 pilots, 10 other aircrew, and 10 ground personell were killed , many of them foreign volunteers, 2 pilots were listed as MIA, and 4 aircrew were captured. 27 aircraft were downed in air engagements - 20 Egyptian, 1 Syrian, 5 British and 1 civilian. Another 6 aircraft were destroyed either by Israeli anti-aircraft fire or on the ground. Many of the Israeli units moved base during the course of the war. I'll dig out some information and post it to help with the campaign construction. -
Have you checked the key maps in the game options? Maybe you inadvertantly set esc for exit the whole game instead of just to exit the mission?

Any chance of this one at some point? Got to be one of the coolest Spit schemes ever, and fits in nicely with SF2:I\WOI too!

Skyraider Guppy AEW.1 and Avro Shackelton
allenjb42 replied to ZO9's topic in First Eagles Props Forum
From Wiki: Royal Navy AEW capability had been lost when the Fairey Gannet aeroplane was withdrawn after the last of the RN's fleet carriers, HMS Ark Royal, was decommissioned in 1978. During the Falklands War a number of warships were lost, with casualties, due to the lack of an indigenous AEW presence - the RAF Shackleton AEW.2 proposed fleet cover was too unresponsive and at too great a distance to be practical. Two HAS2 Sea Kings were modified in 1982. They were both flying within 11-weeks as the AEW2A and deployed with 824 'D' Flight on HMS Illustrious and served in the Falklands after the cessession of hostilities. -
Libya against Egypt Scenarios
allenjb42 replied to allenjb42's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Raden, if you've seen an Egyptian Herc skin please can you link it as I've not seen one. I could probably mock up a Libyan Fishbed from one of the desert skins around. Kevin, I've already made Egypt friendly in the main nations.ini (it makes it a lot easier getting the western planes to work). This is the Modern NAfrica_nations.ini I've got so far Theater] TheaterName=Modern North Africa Location001=Western Desert Location002=Cyrenaica Location003=Greece Location004=Crete Location005=Albania [Nation001] NationID=035 Name=Libya DisplayName=Libyan Air Force Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NamesArabic.lst RankList=RanksRAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=POOR GenderRatio=0 [Nation002] NationID=031 Name=Egypt DisplayName=Eqyptian Air Force Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NamesArabic.lst RankList=RanksRAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=POOR GenderRatio=0 Do I need to a limited nations list too? I'm testing this in a new fully patched install of WOI so that I can use the Egyptian & Libyan skins. -

Libya against Egypt Scenarios
allenjb42 replied to allenjb42's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
No problem. I'm going to start on the airfields and build up the air defences, modernise the pre-placed ground objects etc. and work from there. There's probably enough airfields on the map at the moment anyway, working on the basis that the Egyptians would forward deploy any required forces to nearer the border, and that they don't have any air refueling assets. -
Libya against Egypt Scenarios

Thanks for the info Kevin. I'll look into it, unless of course..... -
I've been toying with the idea of a Libya\Egypt install. They fought a brief war in the 1970s and a 1980s scenario would be doable too, either a straight fight between the two or part of a wider NATO\Warpac conflict in the Med, maybe set at the time of the USN\Libyan confontations. The planeset matchup is quite interesting, and we have pretty much all of the aircraft, and many of the skins, required - Libya has MiG-21, -23 and -25, Mirage 5 & F1 and Su-22s, and Egypt would have MiG-21, Su-7 & 20 and Mirage 5 to start with, and then also F-4E, F-16A and Mirage 2000 in a 1980s scenario. Tu-16s and Tu-22s could also be included for Egypt and Libya respectively. For helicopters, both sides have Mi-8s, and the Libyans have Mi-25s too. What sort of ground objects (tanks, APCs, AAA and SAMs) would be needed for each side in 1970s and 1980s scenarios? Do they both have Soviet equipment? The Libya map is not really useful because it doesn't have the border with Egypt, but if we had a modernised North Africa terrain based on Edwards\Wrench's WW2 version that would be perfect. What do you think?

Looks like something that Ernst Stavro Blofeld would like for Xmas, or maybe Dr Evil

There's a map at the front of the book showing where Ras Assanya is located. If you don't have a copy handy I can scan the page from mine. In 'The Warbirds' the 45th TFW had 3 squadrons of F-4Es (377th TFS, 378th TFS and 379th TFS). The tailcodes were AX (at Alexandria South, Egypt) and SW (at RAF Stonewood, England). I'm not sure about when they were at Ras Assanya, I'd have to read through the book again in detail, but if it's not in there would they change the code on deployment to something like RA, or keep the SW code? The cover of my copy of the book shows and F-4 in the grey scheme, which should be about right for the late 1980s when the story is set. The wing gained a detachment of F-4Gs and a squadron of F-15Cs. Saudi and IIRC Iraqi support is also mentioned. Other US support aircraft metioned are C-130s, KC-135s and a stealth recon fighter (maybe the F-19?) The Iranians are specifically mentioned as having MiG 23 Floggers. It shouldn't be too difficult to mod either a stock TW Flogger or a MF one to represent an Iranian bird, and presumably the Iranians would also have their stock aircraft from the IranIraq mod (F-4, F5, F-14 etc). Let me know if you need any more info. BTW, the Grain King rescue at the beginning of the book would make a nice quick mission - 2 F-4Es with wing tanks and gun vs 2 fully armed Libyan MiG 23s intercepting a USAF C-130 famine relief flight.

Excellent news! Any chance of adding the airbase at Ras Assanya and the prison and airstrip at Kermanshah as easter eggs? I'd like to have a bash at some Richard Herman missions in homage to your work in Janes FA. Maybe a Warbirds campaign and Force of Eagles mission pack?

And the Germans do have experience of building good submarines...

I'm getting the same problem.
