ah now i understand what "my signal crapped out" means -
hello all another of the wall question from yours truly. i converted STORM's EF-4C to Gen2 (for my use right now) and have it flying good in game. the main things i am haveing trouble with are as follows Decals: i downloaded the USAF wing decal set which has the needed decals for 81st TFS 52d TFW but i cant make sense of the tga file names to figure out which one it is i need. is there a way to read tga files without notepad so it doesn't look like gobbleygook? does any one know which tga goes to what in that download so i can plug it in the decal.ini?(yes that would be a cheating fix) Programs: what programs would i need to be able to tweak the skin and to change the model itself? for accuracy i want to remove the red stripe from around the fuselage and on the fin cap as well. the model itself also needs a few additional antennea on the nose and on the intake shoulder to accurately represent wild weasel 4. most important to this question is where can i find these programs preferably free or very cheap? i am an E-5 with a family of 5 so cant quite blow a couple hundred on this here Weapons: i have tried a fix to keep Standard ARM off of the F-4C of NOTALLOWEDWEAPONS= but it doesnt seem to work. am i phrasing it wrong? also do i need to put more info in than AGM-78B/C/D? each model gets its own donot allow line but still nada. i also tried adjusting allowed weight per pylon but can't work that with out cutting CBU load or getting something else funky. my test pics will show AGM-78 but that is from check flights in auto pilot to ensure my latest ini edits worked ok. also for ya'lls general info i took the Gen2 F-4C_67 and applied the ini and skin from the EF-4C to make my wild weasel. if i can get it where i want it to be and STORM is ok with it i will upload it though maybe not til i get home in january internet loves to drop here so not sure id get it online here in the stan.i appreciate your help in advance and heres a pic of what i got so far for your viewing pleasure.

weapons folder
daddyairplanes replied to kingwael's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
what version of the game do you have? if its anything SF2 then go into (your user name)\Saved Games\ThirdWire\(the game which you have.) go into the Objects folder and if you dont have a weapons folder......make one! this is assuming you have one of the SF2 series games on Vista. pending your answer any other O/S or the first gen series i will hand you off to the moderator who chooses to help you. i hope this helps -

Eagles Gone Wild
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
why not Eagle II given its advanced capabilities ala F-5E tiger II. or super eagle ala super hornet. of course IMO should be given a new name and number much like the northrup F-5G Tiger II. (if you don't know what that is look up the F-20A Tigershark!) oh and off of the topic of the newest Eagle do you guys have the AS blue schemes in the works? You know what they were wearing at Luke AFB mid to late seventies? -

oh another note once the laptop sorted its self all lods bmps effect ini and wavs for my birds older than 2 aug on the comp are still there. all ini, loadout data etc are gone. as i write this i'm in process of unzippin off thumbdrive and replacing the affected planes. thought you all might be interested. -
just caught and killed some kinda bug on my laptop. only problem is all my work and d/l's of the last two weeks is gone as well. @ EricJ : a couple of days ago you put a file in a thread helping out someone with graphics issues but i can't recall the name of the file or thread to go find it. it had worked best to boost my fps and right now its gone. i would really appreciate a repost of that file. @everyone else at least i saved most of my downloads on thumbdrive but i hadn't saved the planes i converted over yet. can i scream now?

had that problem at the beginnig of the deployment when i had to reboot my laptop a couple of times. don't remember all the details but on thing i do know is to make sure you only have the latest direct x and oct 08 patch. dont merge WOV with that install or put any other third party stuff on it will make wierd things happen. as for the message the person below me might have that answer.

mine don't detonate either. no effects really except for the result.(1 launched, 0 hit, 197 kills ) i know KillerBee has put out some info on nuclear effects ini edits. i've just been more focused on Phantoms than nukes. Nukes i use for more amusing missions like the BUFF loaded with SRAMs so it can handle it's own SEAD
-
don't know about that specifically but look at your ini's closely. just changed the planes in the '79 campaign for the 81st TFS to F-4Gs so i had a Weasel squadron. had the same problem with 100% then ctd. turned out to be my mistake in editing the ini had the texture name instead of the skin folder name(yes experienced modders i know was a bonehead move) go back thru the directions in the readme and your ini's and i bet you'll find your problem.

Flyby Over USS Independence
daddyairplanes replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
sorry the shots of the buff look photoshopped if they aren't why hasn't any one heard of it since it has to have crashed? tragic as for the russian crew -
well todays question is about what the title implies. i have read that you can enter certain specs into the ini's to keep certain weapons out but those mostly appear to be "no bigger than." problem is that allows EF-4C to carry AGM-78(they were never wired for them) and the F-106 gunpod. I Started changing over the F-106 on my install last night and and it seems to be able to carry Sidewinders and has the SUU-23 instead of the F-106 gunpod! i mention all this to ask this: would it be possible to set up a userlist ini for the weapons similar to the nation list used for the planes? would likely spell out different aircraft instead of countries and i would be willing to get crackin on this if it is actually possible.

you see alot of strange things in the desert. would you believe i've even seen french soldiers carrying rifles?(rare but seen it) on another note the dfacs here have saftey mssgs put up on flatscreens so they can post many mssgs. (taxmoney at work) one states not to jog down the runway and it ends with dont become a hood ornament for a C-5! i just wanna know who actually did that? -

ah that explains the whining sound when they do take off -
go into your options when it first loads up and select what keys you want controling what and what difficulty you want to use. takes a bit of time to setup your controller and keys but once you have your planes systems down and keep flyin it it will get alot easier. and a lot of the how depends on your setup.
