P-40S SuperHawk This is a fictional upgrade of the P-40N Warhawk. Background: With the XP-40Q project failing to get of the ground Curtiss came up with an upgrade to the existing late model P-40 airframes that would give them performance on par with the XP-40Q and the P-51D. The resulting P-40S SuperHawk performs so well it rapidly becomes one of the front line fighters of choice. It will even go on to serve in the Korean War alongside the P-51D. The upgrade: - 2200HP Packard V-2250 engine (Packard built Merlin 1710 upgraded to 2200HP). - Four-bladed Rotol propeller. - 4 x 20mm Hispano Mk II cannons. - K-14 gyro gunsight. - Range: 650 mi (560 nmi, 1,100 km400 nmi (459 mi, 740 km). - Service ceiling: 43,500 ft (13,258 m). - Rate of climb: 3,650 ft/min (18.5 m/s). I have included skins for every late war WWII theatre the P-40 operated in as well as a ‘what if’ USAF WWII ETO and Korea skin. There are skins for the RAAF, RAF, RNZAF, USAF and Soviet Airforce. I think the 3 month subscription is a good idea personally. Combat Ace is an outstanding community to be apart of. I also play another player mod-able game but their main community forum/ download site is full of sqabbling and fighting over model usage with little co-operation or collaboration. We have something here to be really proud of that deserves to continue and grow.

RAAF poised to make strikes on ISIS

I see your point, but as they carry AIM-9X on the wing tips they must want to retain some level of self defense, as fighters in Afghanistan still do etc, so what's your though on the AIM-9 instead of the AIM-120 for this purpose? USAF F-16 as an example carry a pair of AMRAAM'S over sidewinders in Afghanistan. Personally I would have thought the AMRAAM would provide more flexibility. -

It’s not very clear but from the released pictures they don't seem to be carrying an Aim-120 opposite the ATFLIR on the fuselage station for some reason? -

No problem mate, as a kiwi I'm embarrassed to admit it but I didn’t really know that much detail about RNZAF service in the Pacific until I started putting together this pack and doing the skins. After the humiliating axing of our air combat wing in 2001 and massive budget cuts that followed the Air Force tends to skim over the history of its fighter squadrons in its publications or museum content/ books etc. It’s a real shame but I guess it’s quite raw for them still and they tend to focus on New Zealanders that served in RAF squadrons or our Article XV squadrons within the RAF. Fortunately the internet and a few New Zealand aviation forums are rich with information because personally I much prefer a P-40, Corsair or Dauntless with Kiwi markings than an Article XV aircraft in boring old RAF markings hehe

View File SF2 WW2 PTO RNZAF P-40E/K/M/N Kittyhawk Pack SF2 WW2 PTO RNZAF P-40E/K/M/N Kittyhawk Pack A total of 301 P-40s were allocated to the RNZAF under Lend-Lease, for use in the Pacific Theater, although four of these were lost in transit. The aircraft equipped 14 Squadron, 15 Squadron, 16 Squadron, 17 Squadron, 18 Squadron, 19 Squadron and 20 Squadron. RNZAF P-40K/N/M squadrons were successful in air combat against the Japanese between 1943 and 1944 (RNZAF P-40E never saw combat). Their pilots claimed 100 aerial victories in P-40, whilst losing 20 aircraft in combat. Geoff Fisken, the highest scoring British Commonwealth ace in the Pacific, flew P-40s with 14 Squadron, although half of his victories were claimed with the Brewster Buffalo. The overwhelming majority of RNZAF P-40 victories were scored against Japanese fighters, mostly Zeroes. Other victories included Aichi D3A "Val" dive bombers. The only confirmed twin engine claim, a Ki-21 "Sally" (misidentified as a G4M "Betty") fell to Fisken in July 1943 From late 1943 and 1944, RNZAF P-40s were increasingly used against ground targets, including the innovative use of naval depth charges as improvised high-capacity bombs. The last front line RNZAF P-40s were replaced by Vought F4U Corsairs in 1944. The ex combat P-40s joined the P-40E in New Zealand OCU Squadrons relegated to use as advanced pilot trainers. The name Kittyhawk was generally retained throughout the aircraft's' service with the RNZAF, even when the later models' official name was Warhawk. Included are 4 Royal New Zealand Air Force specific aircraft with a total of 11 skins. - P-40E Kittyhawk RNZAF - P-40K Kittyhawk (Warhawk) RNZAF - P-40M Kittyhawk (Warhawk) RNZAF - P-40N Kittyhawk (Warhawk) RNZAF INSTILATION: Drop files into your mods folders, override when prompted.
