  1. In the first series, examples of limiters were: MaxSpeedSL=288.79 MachLimit=0.860 Also, engine thrust under the engine entries: SLThrustDry=76310.00 SLThrustWet=129000.00 <<--AB ...also limited the max thrust. By increasing your machlimit number and engine thrust entry (adding an extra 50-100% for example) would result in some pretty tangible increases in speed. One thing I'm not 100% on is these entries: StallSpeed=77.41 CruiseSpeed=257.9 ClimbSpeed=260.60 CornerSpeed=250.2 MaxSpeedSL=410 ...I think were measured in newtons or by some other unit of measurement. I'm sure it wasn't Kph/Mph/Kts and I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed for Gen 2. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
  2. Congrats to you, your son and his partner, Mannie!
  3. No my friend, this is a beast. I know that because it's real, it technically doesn't count. Interesting thing about that Puma was that it was one of the very same Pumas from Red Dawn, sans the glasshouse. It was originally planned to fly it with attached fake glass cockpit, but the required performances in the movie exceeded it's safe flight parameters. Which is why you don't see the Hinds in Red Dawn really exert themselves.
  4. The Syrians screwed up when they started killing their own people.
  5. My god that thing was fugly! First time I saw it, I wanted to give it a bullet and put it out of it's misery. Nothing that ugly was intended to live...
  6. What?! No RAAF variant?? It was the launch customer and named after the capitol!! lol Just kidding, love the new Canberra Paulo!
  7. Yep, he's ancient! Just Like EricJ. Happy birthday ladies!!
  8. I thought the problem with the original was that the 3dsm files were lost in a HD crash several years ago. It'd be nice to see an updated one, it's easily the best looking of all the Vipers.
  9. Yeah, enemy AI don't run out of fuel. Wingmen can, I've had some drop out of the sky from time to time.
  10. Time to make yourself pretty, Widow. We're gonna want to see this on the youtubez too you realise...
  11. By about 20 minutes in, her naivety was grating on me and I wanted her to join some of the other characters... in hell! Great film though!
  12. Better acting!! For the love of all that is holy, hire some f$%&ing writers that know how to write dialogue for someone older than 18 AND hire some actors who know how to act!!! I don't care how visually wonderful or how compelling the gameplay supposedly is, if the dialogue is cheesy, badly written tripe, it kills what's left of the immersion. I can't play a console game these days for that reason, hammy, crappy... just woeful acting! If you're spending tens of millions on producing a product, DON'T SKIMP OUT ON DIALOGUE. Goddamn Deux Ex and Modern Warfare made me want to throw a brick at my screen! I haven't played the new Ghost Recon yet, but I'd bet a nut that the acting will suck. The General from GRAW 1&2 was WAY OTT and just about every action shooter is as well these days. Case in point: We deserve better than this. This^^ is just... insulting. ...now excuse me, I need to have a little lie down after that vent.
  13. I think the sad part is how the ink on the sales/refurbishment contract was signed, then the Russian government decided to renegotiate the price. India got d*cked on that one. I'd be interested to see if the Mig-29s are wholly built new and not using components or extensively modified 'old' airframes. It's a shame, they make some fine military platforms in Russia but some of their companies try thug it out and make their money hand over fist.
  14. Unfortunately, obscenely expensive stealthy platforms are the must have items that, economic crisis or not, air forces are selling their souls to purchase right now. For the prices AFs are paying for capable stealth platforms these days, the stealth should work like Romulan cloaking devices.
  15. Talk about leap of faith worthy of Martin Luther! How's you not fly that into the drink? lol.
  16. Probably the most disappointing thing about the flypast is that the Vulcan XH558 was scheduled to lead the flypast similarly to the following video. Unfortunately, it's two port engines were damaged before take off, Monday week ago and sadly she's been grounded since. That would have been just as epic a fly by as this in 2K2. :(
  17. There was talk of Arnie doing a sequel to Total Recall as far back as 2k5, but it was in development hell for a long time before it was scrapped.
  18. That act by Mrs Clarke was in many ways just as short sighted as the 2010 SDSR. I can kind of understand part of the reasoning, I mean your Kahus were in a similar situation to our Pigs: They would never be deployed overseas during any kind of active service outside or training or co-operative events... so what's the point of having an asset that won't be used? You know, amalgamating our respective AFs would benefit both of our countries. You guys would get your teeth back, we would have access to a wealth of NZDF assets (facilities, staff, etc), we could offset some maintenance to NZ with it's cheaper dollar, neither side would suffer from the loss of skills sets to the private sectors or off shore, etc. It's just a shame our military planners here suffer from a myopic short sightedness almost as bad as that of the Cameron Government's in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised to see the RAF and FAA still looking skeletal come 2018/19. When Treasury and planners take money away from defence in a popular or pandering gesture, it's very difficult to get said money back. Once it's been diverted to someone else's pockets, they won't let you take it back. So, on that basis, I wouldn't be surprised seeing the UK lean a lot more on it's close allies or even actually go through with this proposition of interoperability between the Royal and French navies, irrespective of whether either is using the B or C model of the F-35. Signing up to other air services, the USMC, etc.
  19. That's a shame. I used to love Primal Scream, especially around the XTRMNTR era.
  20. Not just Americans. An Israeli RF-4E crew were awarded a kill when an interceptor (I think it was either Iraqi or Syrian) crashed due to target fixation. The US has known about Russians operating with VPAF, NVA et al, for a long time. Col. Vadim Petrovich Shchbakov has been recognised as a Soviet Ace who flew Mig-21s for the VPAF as a pilot instructor against US forces in Vietnam.
  21. I remember reading a proposal to offer them the A-10A around that time too.
  22. Someone's still playing World In Conflict? That was an outstanding game! Playing Wing Commander Darkest Dawn and it's absolutely awesome! Technically, it's a space sim. But really, it's as much a space sim as Ace Combat is a flight sim. Then there's the old faves like San Andreas and Payday: The Heist.
  23. So ignoring MSNBC and Chris Hayes is probably a good idea for Vets and Servicemen/woman today.

    1. JediMaster

      JediMaster

I think it's a good idea any day! Also, ignore CNN and Fox News, they're nothing but ratings hounds now...anything to get viewers.

  24. This is precisely why I used Fighter Ace and it's dynamic multiplayer battlefields with it's objectives, it's strategic nodes and resources (flying transports to resupply FOBs with resources allowing other players to operate from them = awesome!). Aces High with it's bog-standard deathmatch style games can be just horrible at times. Get some squaddies in and Fighter Ace was a great game. Pity.
  25. This is how I've approached the sim. I've always loved it for it's simplicity and the fact that it always has been a work in progress and I figured the DLC business model was the inevitable way of TW. Thing is, I've not once bought this sim for the aircraft. TW provided us the easel for us to do whatever we wanted and the community responded by developing some brilliant wares. With the locking out of specific, integral elements of the game, this, to me in any case, appears like there are now caveats on how we use said easel. And I get it, I mean I understand TW did this as a justifiable response to some pilfering of their hard work, but the solution has been game changing. I pretty much only use community made aircraft now, especially when modding, since their ease of use trumps using stock or DLC for my needs. There have been some sorely needed updating to particular elements to this series, especially the terrains. If you're not convinced, play some Hawx, then come back to our stock terrains. And while there have been other elements that have been added to make this a more rounded sim offering over time, updated visuals and audio, mission editor, and so on, multiplayer, like it or not, is going to continually be the 800 pound gorilla in the room (well, one of them) and adding a token death match or versus mode simply won't cut it. Fighter Ace ran an INCREDIBLE multiplayer experience for more than 10 years on an engine that, graphically at least, wouldn't have seemed out of place on a SNES. It was proof that a great multiplayer experience wasn't intrinsically linked to a great graphical engine, but since the focus has been on the lone wolf since the beginning of the second generation, the visual elements play a much greater role in creating atmosphere and keeping players interest in game. So on this basis, I've felt TW switching their attention to tablets and relegating these much needed upgrades to the bench for the foreseeable future was a bad decision. But the thing is, smart phones and tablets have exploded over the past 5 years, so much so that relatively little attention by these users can still translate into high sales numbers by the sheer number of people it could be exposed to. If this increases TW's revenue streams by a higher or more consistent income or otherwise allows them to expand their business, then I welcome it. Even if this proves to be the end of the series as we know it, the community will run with it for years to come. Look at examples such as The Babylon 5 Project or Wing Commander Darkest Dawn, both mods using Freespace SCP, but a game that's been around 13 years no less.
