Go Reagan! This kind of thing really makes me want to put a bullet in the people that pull this sh*t against animals. Are they really that cheap that they won't drive the extra mile or two to go to Animal Welfare or the SPCA?? Bastards.

It's a fun, arcadey game, but the lack of dedicated servers, I think, is a real handicap.

F-35 to replace JASDF F-4Ejs
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well, you might be right, but this time around the US isn't trying to f*ck Japan like they did with the F-2, so I doubt it. Right now, there's nothing like the US/Japan trade deficit like there was in the late 80s/early 90s and it's an internal program anyways. I think they've learned their lessons about compromise in joint ventures. Although, with 10+ years of economic stagnation and now the Tōhoku earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima Daiichi disaster, I'm surprised Japan's tackling it at all. You add into that equation that they aren't allowed to export military products and that's only going to make it that much harder for them to trim the costs associated with this. -
F-35 to replace JASDF F-4Ejs
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Sidestepping the "Who has a bigger wang" argument between the F-35 and F-22 for the moment, the JASDF F-4EJs are primarily tasked with anti-shipping and ground attack/CAS. It's OCA/DCA roles are only secondary. The F-35 can fit the role, but so does the Mitsubishi F-2. I'm interested to see how AGM-84s will fit into the weapons bays on the F-35, or how they plan on it being stealthy if they have to start loading the wings. If they have to, then what's the point? A few F-35 customers are currently pondering that. They could have reopened the F-2 production line (it was only closed in September) at minimal cost and F-2s rolling off the line immediately, rather than in about 8 or 9 years. And anyways, these arguments about the F-35 being inferior or superior to 4/4.5 gen aircraft is a moot point. The ATD-X will be up and flying in a couple of years and the JASDF will have a 5th gen platform in service by the end of the decade. -
It's official. F-35 Wins Japan Fighter Competition

Come on people, we can do better than racist insults, borderline or otherwise.

When I heard this, I swear to the almighty Buddha, my first two thoughts about this were exactly what Whiteknight and Crazyhorse said.

May be a possible announcement on which way the Japanese will go in the next week or so. Maybe. No clear signal yet from Japan on F-35 selection. I'm interested to see how this affects the development of the ATD-X.

That's something we need in the Wings Over series: The Concorde.

Interestingly, I came across this earlier this morning without trying for it: What if Moddlers: F-104 with F-16 parts Personally, I hate the F-104. Short legged with a thirsty, yet powerful engine, 'multirole' with tiny load carrying capacity, short range air to air capability, loooooooong fuselage with stubby wings and a T-tail(that's the deal breaker for me: the aesthetics!). I mean, for me, there's nothing endearing about this aircraft. But the lancer style mods make it look much more endearing. It looks to be much more useful and the link to the F-104 modded with F-16 components looks pretty awesome, the same goes for the images Blackbird's been posting.

Doesn't mean they don't have high end EW and integrated air defence systems. -

Something not considered by this though: What about the number of virtual lives saved? -

You read that too, huh? My first reaction was "Yep, I'm fecked..." but then I thought about it another way. I've single handedly won WWII, WWIII, Vietnam, like, 19 times easy... I think a little bit of genocide on the way can be overlooked. And that's not taking into consideration the future wars won against the Kilrathi, the Shivans, the Combine, hordes and hordes of Zombies and Infected... and the countless lives saved from that! -
Awww no... he was awesome. Always reminded me of my Pop.

Just curious, but with all these Mirage mods out lately, no one's doing an ATLAS Cheetah by chance, are they??

Exactly what it sounds like. It's the part of the missile's flight that you see when you fire that uses the burner to accelerate before going into it's homing or ballistic phase, or with some missiles, it's cruise phase if it has a sustainer motor. It depends on the missile since they use different methods of propulsion and fuel (solid, sometimes liquid, air breathing like the MDBA Meteor). But for game purposes, most AAMs usually have an acceleration phase which uses the burner followed by a homing phase which doesn't.

Thanks for the save Wrench. It was late here.

May not look like anything at all. The Swiss Socialists are trying to block the deal, or have it deferred to 2025. Because, you know, those Tigers will last that long...

No, no, you're in the wrong file. The one you're looking in is the Mirage5D.ini, not the Mirage5D_DATA.ini Is this a stock plane, or one you've installed separately? If it's stock, the DATA.ini might not show up, in which case you'll need to extract it from elsewhere. If it's not a stock plane, it should be located in the aircraft's folder along with the Mirage5D.ini, lods and any skins for it.

It's usually like this in the aircraft's DATA.ini. Here's an example from the Mitsubishi F-2: [MissionData] NationName=JAPAN ServiceStartYear=2000 ServiceEndYear=2028 AircraftRole=FIGHTER AircraftCapability=DAY_AND_NIGHT Availability=VERY_COMMON PrimaryRoles=SEAD,STRIKE,ARMED_RECON SecondaryRoles=ANTI_SHIP,CAP,SWEEP NormalMissionRadius=579.4 MaxMissionRadius=874 Ceiling=16760 MinBaseSize=MEDIUM [FlightControl] StallSpeed=77.41 CruiseSpeed=257.9 ClimbSpeed=260.60 CornerSpeed=250.2 MaxG=9.33 MaxSpeedSL=410 MachLimit=2.05 PitchDamper=0.85 RollDamper=0.45 YawDamper=0.25 GunBoresightAngle=2.8 RocketBoresightAngle=0 [DetectSystem] Reference Name= RadarType=AIR_INTERCEPT RangeUnit=NM RadarAzimuthLimit=60 RadarElevationLimit=60 RadarSearchTime=1.0 RadarSearchRange=160 RadarSearchStrength=100 RadarTrackTime=4.0 RadarTrackRange=80 RadarTrackStrength=100 VisualBlindArc=5,6,7 VisualRestrictedArc= MaxVisibleDistance=210000.0 [sound] EngineSoundName=JetEngine AfterburnerSoundName=JetBurner DamagedEngineSound= FlapsSoundName=Flaps AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes GearsSound=Gear Stallsound=StallSound

I dig those Japanese ones in a similar vein to Ultima 7, specifically Shining Force 2. I think they're probably classified as more of an adventure game... but Japanese adventure games are by definition RPGs here in the West. Shining Force was also good and I had friends who got into Phantasy Star 4 who used to swear by that series. Baulder's Gate 2 was pretty good, especially when you got a group of people together. Also, not quite an rpg, but Jagged Alliance 2. Awesome fun, lots of rpg elements to it.

Mako, here is a comparison of a Doom map from 1993 and the average contemporary FPS single player map now: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTLqSo1WQqK-0K5pwftOyftZ9zrD3Twgp5VWpKwX07oSm8ZZJM3yolnBsv7 You have no excuse to finish it in more than five minutes.

I'm reasonably sure that, if you've installed HL2 at all, you won't be able to re-sell it as the CD key is permanently tied to your steam account.

It's weird, some reports say it was that, others contradict it and state that an F-5 or Saeqeh aircraft crashed as a result of hitting the Il-76 with the 2 crew ejecting safely.
