No, it's not a local convention like Spain. They refer to their C-130s by that designation and the Nomads by their original N-22 designation. In fact, I'm pretty sure there aren't any local designators for their aircraft like that. It just seemed like an odd thing to say for an Air Force official.

There's a series of books called "Australians at War", one of them outlines RAAF operations in Vietnam (can't remember the exact name off the top of my head) and has some nice shots of the Mk.20. I'm pretty positive I've seen snapshots in it with at least 4 or more of those underwing hardpoints loaded along with the wing tip hardpoints. I'll see if I can find it at work tomorrow as my branch has a fairly decent collection of Australian military history books.

I've been making those for a a totally half arsed, and completely rushed Timeline-191 conversion for a while now. Although (aside from crappy skins and a lack of motivation to complete them) I could never decide on what I wanted to have each side flying. Two separate covers have B-17Gs flying for the USAAF and the CSAAF. I even made a version of the Confederate battle flag with the reds and blues swapped as described in the series. Yours look infinitely better than mine though, Wrench!

I mean if one of these concepts is going to desensitise, glorify or reward players in such a way as to produce tangible effects, I wouldn't have thought chronicling someone's story from a war zone would be it. I really want to like it because I was a MASSIVE fan of Ace Combat since the days of CAP 22, Ace 2, Distant Thunder (especially) and so on, but the switch to 'real world Earth' as opposed to their alternate one has really stuck in my craw. Plus Ace Combat 6 was a complete bust for me. The acting in that was just so... horribly, horribly, horribly, horribly, horribly, horribly, AWFUL, it was bad enough to overshadow the game for me. I think the series peaked for me with Ace 4 Distant Thunder and The Belkan War. I hope this one is better, but my instincts say some of you are right in thinking they're trying to appeal to a young, COD playing audience. If so, I'm out. *EDIT* Is it just US aircraft you can fly (all the lists I've seen so far seem to indicate this) or will European, Russian and other aircraft be flyable as well? I can't see the point to playing it if it's only going to be limited to a narrow selection of aircraft...

This thing would kick the SM-62's butt cold. Kiwi industry makes some seriously nice gear, but like Australia, suffer from officials with no foresight. They could make a killing from this.
