Installing Over Flanders Field
Polovski replied to Bevington's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Hi Bevington, sounds like a bad DVD or maybe your DVD drive cannot read it for some reason. Can you try on another PC to check the DVD ? If it still does not work contact Avangate (see your order email) and explain you cannot read the DVD and need a replacement. -
Yes before the sight aimed upwards and your view was forwards. F6 was aligned. Probably luck if it lined up in your view. Now gun fires less up.. so sight aims down more and should align in F6 view not necessarily in VC normal view. Yes pre and post patch

It can happen, depends on lots of things, the scope of OFF is to produce a dynamic realistic campaign but also make an interesting flight sim. However the very fact it's dynamic and can produce all sorts of missions - it is possible you may not meet an aircraft for days or weeks or fly right by them as you did not notice. In 1915 - 1916 it was relatively quiet. Most people would hardly engage an enemy early on. Few squads, few flights, few attacking craft. Also possibly you are in a quiet region during a quiet period. As off is scalable for ground offensive build ups or know periods of extra activity in the air (as per our features page) so if no major attack in your sector it will be quieter. Also depending on your mission frequency if you are on 3 missions a day 10 hrs is only a few days. Try another squad, date/time if you want more action. Or maybe you have been lucky enough to pass flights by, or maybe mostly they have not gone your way. If you have target awareness dial showing, or labels on you may see more, at the expense of immersion. Otherwise as in real life you will fly past many craft you never realise are there. Also even though we have lots in there, we still do not have every single aircraft/squad ever active, so some areas may need an aircraft that does not exist in the game yet that could add to the quietness in some areas. We have made sensible substitutions in many places to help. It's difficult job to balance this - be historically accurate and also make it play well. If you want definite action join somewhere close to Flanders in 1917/1918 ;)

There are various reports on it's climb rate, of course all with added questions, amoung the various figures I have seen 1200 f/m 1500 and 900 for example. 1500 was with a replica with a radial engine 165 HP so we can probably rule that out so I think 1100-1200 would be about right for the period, and to be considered generally a good climber. Also if it was relatively slow but still climbed well that too would give the impression it was better at climbing.

Yes Rick it is intentional. No you did not become a midget. F6 is the view to use if you do not have Track IR in previous N17 lewis, and current. The normal default cockpit view is NOT aligned in either version, you have to move with TIR or use F6. In real life the sight actually aims upwards as the gun fires UPWARDS angle over the prop! Because the AI must fire directly forward we had to make a choice, totally correct as realy life but AI miss you a lot, or firing forward more. So changing it meant your VC sight would have been incorrectly lined up. So now it is aligned. We found a way to make the Bristol scout AI fire a 45 degree fixed gun now, so maybe we can revert at some point. But at the moment, that's how it is.

If you zoom your view this will happen too. The prop vanishing is a known issue player is too close to the Prop CFS3 engine issue. -
Perhaps someone can translate this for you but.. Try a different squad, date or time. You may have no nearby enemy squad for that date / time - as may be that the squads nearby, fly an aircraft that we have not yet made for example. "Workshop" has options for campaign frequency. Or enable auto / manual time advance and advance to the next day if you want to ? Player flight number can be increased in "workshop" too.

"and burst into flames." It USUALLY ends when your craft is no longer flyable OR you are dead. Who knows maybe you crashed and survived. Just restart and fly another pilot? If you fly 100's of missions and occasionally something happens that you can't explain it does not mean it's a bug. Even if it was, it would be practically impossible to reproduce it to work out how to fix it. CFS3 itself will do the odd thing, as any computer program in the world would just restart and carry on? No idea on the float thing sorry but 1.30 fixed low level AI issues for some craft.

DiDFWP - or Dead is Dead For Working Parents
Polovski replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Workshop setting for "Player Flight altitude" - change it to higher. The highest Allied flight flew 1-2k feet lower than the highest German flights in the war generally. -
Beautiful :)

The manager itself sets the labels. So no you can't edit how they are shown apart from buttons above.

Maybe a non-English OS issue, do you have the numbers localisation set to English ? in XP: Go to Start Menu, Control Panel, Regional & Language Options n Vista, Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking "Clock, Language, and Region" and then clicking Regional and Language Options to get to the options. Then change the symbol used for decimal to a "." :

Got a squad /date siggi?

Indeed, it's a sim difficult to cover all the angles..but setting realistic sound should take care of the more hollywood sounds.

1.3 AI=Aggressiveness Intensified 130%?!? IT ROCKS!
Polovski replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You mean can you run a patch whilst in game? eeeerk. No. Always quit the sim totally, before running any patches of course! -
Full admin on Vista means nada ;) Done any editing or tweaking of pilot dossiers? What settings do you have in OFF? Can you send your OFFlog.txt from \CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData when you next get it plus a zip of your campaigndata\pilots folder. to support email address please. Never seen those X Y errors on any install in the team. 90 degrees... turn off auto trim before warping (ctrl + A) WW1 craft did not have auto trim you are meant to suffer ;)

Good stuff :)

ALL Patches are Normal DM as they always include ALL previous changes/fixes. SO if you patch, and you want Hard you have to run Hard DM patch afterwards. Currently it's not available until we fix that.. -
Could well be that your home airfield just down below you is getting nervous as you lot spiral down firing bullets all over?

Help the Germans with claim report
Polovski replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
IMHO Play the game work out the secret code, or play as a sim, up to you :) If you are getting a good proportion of claims confirmed then you are there -what's the problem? It's meant to reflect the rough same proportions you would get. Sometimes it would be bad, sometimes good. If you want to make all your claims come in 100% because you have all the possibile keywords or descriptions 100% perfect, then you are no longer playing it as a sim, you are playing to defeat a game. Set it to easy. -
Good to know Jammer. Something glitched there somewhere there but glad it's sorted.
