  1. Thats a known problem - happened on XP also that did - there is a solution - search old posts on here or at Frugals world because it was very common
  2. From the BBC US captain released from pirates breaking news The captain of a US container ship taken hostage by Somali pirates has been released, the US Navy has said. According to initial reports, three pirates were killed in the operation to free Captain Richard Phillips. Another is in custody. Capt Phillips is said to be unhurt and on the USS Bainbridge, a warship sent to track the pirates holding him. He was taken hostage last Wednesday after pirates briefly hijacked his ship, the Maersk Alabama. Media reports say Capt Phillips' family was informed of his release several hours ago. Somali elders had been trying to resolve the standoff but most recent reports suggested the talks had stalled.
  3. What happens when AI controls your AWACs platform: Kuwait saves itself:
  4. Get the AI near the ground and manoeuvre kills are almost a certainty - still at least they do crash in this sim - in F4 I don't think ive seen one enemy AI jet hit the ground.
  5. 1. Very different - more challenging in most missions - new things to learn 3. imo is very good
  6. Its a nice looking jet - not the best IMO
  7. yep probably a fix in the knowledgebase - think its shaders you will need to disable in the terrain data.ini this http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=34221
  8. Isreali Shahak pilots in the 6 day war seemed to have a policy of dropping them as soon as they got vectored to a target - although this was later changed to only jettison them when they were vectored to an actual bogey - due to waste - which shows its down to aircraft, pilot or orders. In the case of an F-4 ive read USAF pilot accounts that the centerline tank had to go before AIM-7s could be used?
  9. Happy Easter one and all!

    RIP Ed

A true hero Ed "Too Tall" Freeman - Glad him and snake got the MOH eventually http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Freeman Both are immortalised in the film "We Were Soldiers"
  11. Nice one dude - prepare for the interview though - you dont wanna stuff that up!
  12. I think some are beta - others may not be to a high level of detail - but i couldn't tell without comparing them to actual photos - unless he does an F-16 of course. Have you got any screen shots of the problems?
  13. Make sure you put the effects that came with the 22 (if any ) into the effects folder - if not Look in the engines section of the F-22_data.ini and change the afterburner emitter names for both to the generic one.
  14. Again the EF like the F-22 came out of a time when they were required to combat the USSR Jets - okay so perhaps they are not as needed - its easy to see what happens with hindsite - maybe we should have just stuck to the F-3s at least it would be a fairer fight if we had defend territory against a country with Flankers etc. The EF can still be a pretty good CAS platform - will get to the scene a lot quicker than an A-10 and with PGMs its still gonna be accurate enough to help ground forces. As for the F-22 - if you were an air force would you even bother starting anything against that?? and its been said already would the US be okay to fall behind if another country developed 5th Gen fighters first and took the lead - because they are being developed by others regardless.
  15. Yeah even in YAP1 the flak was lethal and a bit of a shock - you cant ignore that!
  16. The SE is not that cheap either - I dont think its a viable option myself. 2030 - id hope its a lot longer than that - the F-15/16s could be about till 2025 apparently
  17. Um - Have you not seen the F-15 Silent Eagle? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=38352
  18. From http://www.f-16.net/news_article3358.html April 6, 2009 (by Asif Shamim) - F-16s from 176 FS scrambled by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted and chased a stolen Cessna 172 over three US states before the pilot landed on a highway in Missouri and ran away. The pilot, Adam Leon, 31, stole a Cessna from a Canadian flight school in Thunder Bay, Ontario around 1430h local time before crossing into American airspace, prompting a response from NORAD. F-16s from the Madison based 176th Fighter Squadron scrambled to intercept Leon at the Michigan-Wisconsin border but he refused to respond to their commands to land, and then the chase continued over Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois before the Cessna finally touched down at Ellismore, Missouri. As the plane neared Dane County, the Wisconsin State Capitol Building in Madison was evacuated. Mr Leon's plane had enough fuel for an eight hour flight, according to Mike Kucharek, spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado. He was flying erratically, and although he acknowledged seeing the F-16s he refused to obey their non-verbal commands to follow them, said Mr Kucharek. After crossing into Missouri, the Cessna landed on a stretch of US Highway 60 near Ellsinore in Clark County around 2200h local time. Leon fled on foot, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Department, but was apprehended after about thirty minutes at a local grocery store. "We tailed it all the way," Maj. Brian Markin said. "Once it landed our aircraft returned to base."
  19. A tragic outcome!
  20. Totally disagree - both were conceived to fight in a cold war scenario but the R&D and dev work was carried out from the 80s and you probably dont know this but the YF-22/23 were actually flying in 1990 - and even though the USSR fell apart then it would have been pretty naive and pathetic to think about cancelling such projects in an uncertain world - particularly when the US could easily afford to do it and needed to replace the ageing legacy fleet - also the Soviets had already developed the SU-27 / Mig-29 /MiG-31 which put them on par or better with current western fighters. The F-22 is in service now and no one can match it so therefore its a pretty flippin good deterent - after all who said it should be a fair fight??. Good modern Russian SAM systems are relatively cheap but very effective against 4 - 4.5 gen fighters - so as a tin pot dictator i might be able to deter any one from my military by buying loads and doing exactly what the hell I like - so if they invade a friendly country do you just threaten to nuke them or ignore it completely - whats the solution there? I know it wont solve world poverty - but im afraid the money and power in this world is in the hands of politicians so nothing ever will!!
  21. cheeky get - Cant have been fun flying at near stalling speed!
  22. If it shows in game then check out the attachment types and the allowed weapon types maybe - and see if the pylon your adding it too has the correct weight limits etc. you could always try and force it using this: [RightInnerStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=6 StationGroupID=3 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition= 4.498,-2.65,-0.0 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-1.0 LoadLimit=1500 AllowedWeaponClass=AHM,IRM,SAHM AttachmentType=WP,SOVIET ModelNodeName=RightinnerStation PylonMass=86.18 PylonDragArea=0.02 SpecificStationCode=AA10 <------------------------------- you need to add that code into the AIM-54 weapon also - (sorry when i say that code i mean AIM54)
  23. Some 3rd party models need to be flown in "Normal" aka the YAP choppers to the get the realistic handling but ive read TK say for his 3rd wire models then hard is the "setting" of course its easy to switch depending on what you fly.
  24. thats a shame I reakon the Polish paint scheme is one of the best ive seen for 16s
  25. Nice work on this mod - much appreciated
