  1. A-6 is not using a light source via SystemType=Light. It is an emitter. Vortex to be precise. Guuruu made this for Tornado and forced us to use it as often as possible. I put this into many data.ini already. example: [AircraftData] ..................... ..................... ..................... Component[011]= Component[012]=PilotCabin_light [PilotCabin_light] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ShowFromCockpit=TRUE HasVortexEmitter=TRUE VortexEmitterName=RedCABINLight_1m_Emitter VortexPosition=0, 6.83, 0.46 <--- external view, somewhere in cockpit VortexG=-5 and into the Effects folder: RedCABINLight_1m_Emitter.rar How it works day night (even if position lights are out)
  2. Hello. Welcome. And hold your horses. I am sure you will find a lot of joy in messing around with the game. But I can only give you some advice based on my experience. See those updates. And release dates. Quite old. But it does not mean they are bad. Just old, and over time, we had many extras that were better than the old updates. First example. Many weapons are already overhauled by our dear Ravenclaw. You see his work, and you do not want to drop those bombs. Many ground objects were updated, and most importantly, many aircraft were overhauled from time to time by modders. So this is where everything is getting crazy. I know that all this modding might be a scary thing, but the truth is, it is not. I would like to recommend some packages to install, but I am not going to do that. Because honestly, as for Vietnam era packs, we had many, and possibly we will have at least one more. But I can recommend one thing. Know the game, get into it, understand game structure, and how mods are living their own life within the game. And then, one step to build your own game mod. Yes, older users here might have a different opinion, but this is just my way of looking at the mods here. And this is how i have my mods installed - I download the mod, unpack, I examine the whole content, and then I pick stuff that I want to have in-game. I played some role in creating Desert Storm mod...yet, my ODS mod was built from zero, based on a mod that was uploaded here. But the Air and Ground Expansions packs are quite impressive mods. Just quite old. Download. And if you know how to mod a game, just pick what is interesting from it and play. One more advice - lot of weapons are updated in WeaponPack v2 by ravenclaw. And More weapons are updated but never officially uploaded in his weapon pack thread. So you got the Air and ground expansion pack. While many things were updated, but never uploaded in the download section. But we are here. ready to help... Even if they are saying that we are close-minded guys on the old forum, and we do not like new users, we are arrogant, and we have problems tolerating piracy it is still fun being part of this forum. I understand and approve your choices If that 76 in your nickname is your birthdate...you are not that old armchair pilot. Imagine, some guys here claim they were playing flight sim while Orville and Wilbur were tinkering in the barn
  3. Come on. We are not going there. Seriously?

    GTs First Eagles

Lovely stuff. Now I want to play with First Eagles too. Or perhaps I should not.
I like this kind of historical research work. Nicely done.
    top notch.
  5. nah..not much work..all is done by now. I am just putting it all together, and was thinking about which way would be best.
  6. ...Just use the forum. Interact with others. Ask silly questions, ask good questions. I do not know what people are doing normally on the forum these days. I am not sure if anyone here is counting posts and likes... Although there were rumors that accumulated "likes" are converted into slips of gold-pressed latinum at the end of each year. Here on CA we are just messing around, pissing off each other, and admiring others' work. Helping. Fooling around. Gloating. Nothing unusual.
  7. Quick question to players. Situation: In 1973-74, the Orpheus pod was introduced to KLu. All old RF airframes were modified to carry this pod. We all know Ravenclaw's work. At this point, RF were not yet equipped with any characteristic antennas on the nose (high band and low/mid band) and a high-band antenna on the rear fuselage. Somewhere in 1976-77 ECMs were added to the fighter-bomber zippers and to reconnaissance airframes as well. And this is the time when antennas were present. and one characteristic intake for cooling new electronic equipment I can make ECM antennas pop up in a specific year (weaponstation mode) and add ecm in aircraft data.ini. Then antennas will be present according to the year, but ECM will be embedded in the aircraft anyway. Done for many years on other aircraft and on all aircraft in ODS30AE. ECM is working, visually everything is correct, and we are happy with it considering game engine limitations. This is more or less clear, and that was the plan. But going this way, the intake should not be present on early aircraft. So the question is: Do you want another variant? Example RF-104G(O) '78 with ecms and early variant RF-104G(O) '73 ? Or you can live with that intake on early birds. Personally, I would make two birds (how I will have in my mod folder anyway) but I am considering your opinion (thing I am not doing usually) before uploading. I can also make two variants anyway and those who want two will have two and those saving space can do some modding on your own and have one "inpure" mod. I am not going to mention that there were small differences between old refubrished RF and new converted from ex-AWX airframes (when 322 and 323 squadrons retired airframes) - this I simplified and it is solved. Of course, the process of refurbishing to RF(O) and ECM took some time (not overnight), but in mod this is simplified for - 1973 for Orpheus and 1977 for ECMs. And this situation will also occur with the fighter-bomber variant also. Just intake is in a different position. So there I will have the same problem to solve. So whatever will be done with RF will be done with the fighter-bomber variant too. Here is an example: D-8138 in 1975 And a few years later, with antennas and intake. D-8138 was the last one to receive IFF/SIF and ALQ-126 mod in January 1978. Or you simply do not care about such small details. Downloading for free is more important for some users than "what and why" modders are really doing. Should not been that way on the sim forum where downloads are based on modders' work, but hell ..You know nothing, Jon Snow...
  8. Seriously? They are still not over with it? fcukers...
  9. 1963, Twente lady.
  10. Despite how phabulous Phantom is, I remind, of the one picture per Friday rule from the first post. Phantom greatness in one pic, not necessarily a story of swooshing missiles... Meanwhile, in the Gulf, 1991.
