  2. [Fictional] Supermarine Spitfire F.Mk22 'Norway'

Supermarine Spitfire F.Mk 22 - Royal Norwegian Air Force
    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Spitfire F.Mk 22 to give a fictional Norwegian Spitfire F.Mk 22 with markings for the following squadrons;
No.331 Squadron RNoAF in standard RAF Camo.
No.332 Squadron RNoAF in NMF/Silver finish.
No.91 Squadron RAF in standard RAF Camo (not a real world user).
This mod requires AI Plane Pack 2 and should not conflict with the stock Third Wire Spitfire F.Mk 22.
I have elected NOT to make this Spitfire F.Mk 22 nation specific for the RNoAF but have kept it as RAF so as to allow other future skins to be dropped in.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the SpitfireF22 folder into your main Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the SpitfireF22 folder into your main Decals folder.
At this point it might be a good idea to change the pilot to whatever you've got in your install suitable for the early post-war period.

    CREDITS
Thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to Kesselbrut for the Spitfire cockpit (an oldie but goldie).
And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  5. Canadair CF-104S "Super Starfighter" (what If...) by Wrench

Canadair CF-104S "Super Starfighter" (what If...) by Wrench    2/10/2023
    -- For SF2, Full 5 Merged REQUIRED --
*** Please note: your game's mod folder/install =MUST= have access to the stock 3rd Wire CF-104_76 Starfighter to make use of the mod. You must ALSO have access to the A-7D_75 as this mod makes use of that cockpit. Hence, the "FUll 5 Merged requirement. ***
This is a modification of the stock CF-104_76 into a "What If..." CF-104S Super Starfighter of the Canadian Forces, Royal Norwegian Air Force, and Royal Danish Air Force. The mod is supplied with 5 skins, 2 of which are "generic" for Any Other Users You Can Think Of (tm).
CAFCamo - a 2-tone dark Euro style (no squadron affiliation)
RDAF - Dark Green Overall (Esk 726)
RNoAF - Light, "Air Superority Grey" Overall (Skv 331)
    For Other Users:
    Standard European 2-tone camo
    Standard "SEA" type 3-tone camo
All markings are decals, and the serial numbers are based off the CAF style post 1980s. 24 serials are supplied for each skin, excepting the Euro & SEA which share the same pool of 24 serials (which just happens to be historically correct CF-104 serials). Decal Randomization is TRUE. With the use of 'all decals' for markings, the 2 generic skins are easily re-badged for any other Friendly Nation (tm) that might have recieved these Super Zippers (see notes for more backstory). All skins have individual Hangar Screens. All are in jpg format.
This is a "full use" aircraft; it is speced for medium range missiles (Sparrow, Aspide, Skyflash), Sidewinders, and all manner of air-to-ground weapons. THis is a full strike fighter, minus the RCAF/CAF's nuclear mission for NATO. It's cleared for use with all NATO, UK and USAF weapons. Be advised, the DRAF/CF use the same anti-ship missile, while the RNoAF uses it's own Penguin.
Most weapons used are stock in-game items, excepting the "F104S pylon set". This has been edited to not conflict with the AMI or Turkish F-104S series. Other weapons are included; of these, all have had the 'end of service/export years' extended to at least 2045. All items have been included for ease of installation. Excepting those items who's LODs we can't access (cockpit!). Ini's do the trick. The canopy is also activated via the Standard Animation Keystroke (tm), Shift/0 (zero).
As always, =READ= the enclosed readme for full, detailed instructions. PLEASE read it!!!
    Happy Landings!

  6. [Fictional] Lockheed F-104C 'Getti Tonanti'

Lockheed F-104C 'Getti Tonanti' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-104C to create a fictional F-104C of the famous 'Getti Tonanti' aerobatic display team of the Aeronautica Militare who performed at the opening ceremony of the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. The real 'Getti Tontanti' flew F-84F's in 1960 so this is just my interpretation of how the Starfighter might have looked with those distinctive Olympic Rings coloured tails.
If you haven't got the F-104C then I'm sure you can hack it to fit the F-104G by changing the skin bitmap names, etc.

    BACKSTORY
Entering service in February 1958 with the 83rd Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Hamilton AFB, California the F-104A interceptor served only briefly with the USAF Air Defense Command but this was soon followed by the multi-role F-104C which entered service with USAF Tactical Air Command in September 1958 when the 479th Tactical Fighter Wing at George AFB, California began to re-equip with the type. Despite setting a new world altitude record of 103,395 ft (31,515 m) just a few months later in December 1958 the USAF sharply reduced their orders for the F-104 leading Lockheed to urgently seek export orders and they soon gained an export order from the Italian Government in January 1960 for 40 F-104C's for the Aeronautica Militare.
With Italy hosting the Olympic Games in the late summer of 1960, the Italian President Giovanni Gronchi personally asked the US President Dwight D. Eisenhower for the earliest possible delivery date as he wanted to use the F-104C's as part of the opening ceremony. Not only did 'Ike' graciously agree but he also authorised the immediate transfer of 10 F-104C's from USAF stocks which were airlifted to Europe during February and March being reassembled at Ramstein Air Base before being flown to Villafranca Air Base by USAF pilots and officially handed over to the 5th Aerobrigata of the Aeronautica Militare. The F-104C's replaced the F-84F Thunderstreaks of the 'Getti Tonanti' aerobatic display team and this elite unit performed a sensational display at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games of the XVII Olympiad held in Rome from August 25th to September 11th, 1960.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-104Cgt folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-104Cgt folder into your main Decals folder.
    That's it!
BTW the mission editor can be used to select all 6 aircraft leaving you to get some formation screenshots taken!

  8. Kfir C2, Fuerza Aérea Hondureña ("What If...")

"What If..." Kfir C2, Fuerza Aérea Hondureña (Honduran Air Force)
    = For SF2, Full-4 Merged Preferred/Reccomended

    * Note: at minimum, you must have SF2:I to access the Kfir C2 aircraft lod and cockpit. Hence, the 'Full-4 Merged' tag.*

Just a little something fun for the "What If..." crowd that I had started last year, and totally forgot about.

This presumes that the FAH purchases refurbished Kfirs from Israel. These a basic, stock aircraft with no 'bells and whistles' (ie: radar missiles), and are totally stock from in-game items (excepting my modified skins with English tags -which should actually be in Spanish).

Everything is basically stock, excepting I tweaked the data, loadout and avionics inis to add the usual suspects. Data ini mods corrects (yet again!) the tail lighting positions, adds the landing lights, and operating canopy (the expected Shift/0). Loadout mods add the centerline tank for A-A tasking. Aviconcs tweeks make use of dtmdragons RWR listing, with it's expanded threat library (NOT included -it's in his RNZAF A-4 Skyhawks pak). 18 new serial numbers, following and extrapolated from current and past FAH patterns are included. Decal randomization is set to "TRUE". A userlist is included, even though this is a 'nationalized', non-exported, single user aircraft.

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them!! When I finally get finished with the Central America map (don't be holding breath now!), there'll be a nice playground for it.

  9. Orion MPCV Pack

Orion Multipurpose Crew Vehicle and variants:

    _________________________________________
    Hi there Combatace community!
As you may already know, this Monday (with some luck) the mission ARTEMIS one is going to lift-off setting the path for future manned missions to the Moon, something that as engineer and space nerd I am very excited about. To celebrate this milestone and since I am finding myself without time to continue 3D modelling space gear for the Moon mods, I have decided to upload my UNFINISHED models so you can enjoy them! That includes:
    - Aircrafts (or should I say spacecrafts)
Orion MPCV: Your normal Orion Multipurpose Crew Vehicle, with some "landing gear" I was trying to design because my experiments with vertical take-off were to this point very unsuccessful... but appart from that and two floating invisible pilons for IR missiles, it should look like the Orion that will take off in a few days! Orion MPCV-ICPS: That is a bigger Orion which includes a variation of the "Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage", which in reality is the upper stage of the SLS that will insert the spacecraft into a translunar orbit from Earth. I modelled it here as a longer range Orion since the ICPS module are substantially two giant propellant tanks (big one LH2 and smaller one LOX). Also I have equipped it with four rocket engines which will help compensating the much heavier fuel tanks (I tried to tweak the engines parameters to make it look a little bit more like a rocket engine instead of an airbreathing one, so fuel consumption has become super high hahaha) F-40A Apollo Starfighter: The beginning of the Spacefighters mod, a modified Orion MPCV-ICPS in which the main body of the ICPS module has been modified to carry weaponry becoming a propulsion and warmodule. It includes to arms with a pair of space adapted cannons and pylons for eight SIM-9A the first vacuum rated version of the AIM-9 with reactive thrust control for maneuvering. This is definetely not how I want it to look like but newer models are on the long To Do List. - AAA test beds: In order to become a full Space warfare mod, ground objects have to be implemented, unfortunately appart from static turrets and modified rovers sketches I have not been able to make 3D models, that is why I borrowed randomly GKABS M163 PIVADS models in order to have AAA with good targeting for the following systems:
Laser AAA: In space, one of the biggest challenges is thermal control of the spacecraft, and since there is no atmosphere to dissipate beams, a laser could potentially become an enemy for sneaky spacecrafts that ventures into restricted territory. That is why a small low power version of Laser AAA is intended to be used in the early stages of the mods conflict. Railgun: An electromagnetically accelerated projectile, with low fire rate but high velocities. It would have sense in the moment in which bigger and armoured spacecrafts appears in later stages of the conflict. - Weapons:
23mm MG-2040 Lunar Cannon 20mm M168 Lunar Vulcan 100KW XN1 Laser Weapon System (quick fact eventhough "small" 100kW is freaking difficult to generate on the Moon) 105mm Lunar Rail Gun SIM-9A Spacewinder - So what to expect from this release?
As you will see, it lacks a lot of things we take for granted in this game: ground assets, targets to strike, actual Air-to-Ground and viceversa weaponry, spacecrafts from other nations. But as we all know, time is sometimes really hard to invest in these projects and real life easily takes over it. So at least you can have some dogfights between Orions and experiment this new environment. I personally enjoyed a lot the process of doing them and thinking how a Spacefighter mod would look like after seeing that a Moon map is actually possible (thank you Menrva!).
So I hope you enjoy this despite of the clearly unfinished models and textures!
    - CREDITS TO:
Menrva: For the amazing map in which all of this can be developed and for the nations creation with their logos and the skins for them in the Orion. ravenclaw_007: For the incredibly detailed AIM-9 model from which I based my own space version model. GKABS: For the M163 that I included for testing the different AAA systems. Combatace community: In general, for the support, suggestions, advice and the material that I have used but I am not able to track the creator. DISCLAIMER:  As always this is a FREEWARE, the use of this content for commertial purposes is strictly FORBIDDEN.
Ohhh and before I forget it, THERE ARE NO LANDING GEARS! hahahha

All being said, kind regards. Nuni

  11. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4DA for SF2

McDonnell Douglas F-4DA Phantom (Argentina) for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-4D to create a fictional F-4DA in service with the Argentine Air Force in the 1979-2010 timeline.

    BACKSTORY
During the early 1960's the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA) began an ambitious plan to replace the F-86F Sabre then in service as their main interceptor-fighter. The British English Electric Lightning was briefly considered but was quickly dismissed on account of it's very short range. The Swedish Saab Draken was successfully evaluated and FAA pilots submitted a very favourable report as was the French Dassault Mirage III and it seemed likely that a decision would be made between these two competing aircraft. However, the end of the Frondizi government in 1962 and the subsequent turmoil over the next few years saw the FAA's plans put on hold but the Israeli's successful use of the Mirage III in the 1967 Six-Day War saw the FAA finally decide on the French aircraft. However negotiations with the French Government came to an abrupt end in May 1968 when Juan Carlos Onganía, fearful of a coup d'état, dismissed the leaders of the Armed Forces and cancelled the Mirage order.
The 1973 elections (the first general elections for ten years) saw Dr. Hector Cámpora elected as President with a campaign based on a platform of national reconstruction. For the FAA this meant that it's F-86 replacement plans could finally continue but with an aircraft from an unexpected source. Despite the turmoil of Argentina's recent history, the US State Department saw Argentina as a bulwark of anti-Communism in South America and US President Richard Nixon sanctioned the export of 28 ex-USAF F-4D's with deliveries to Grupo 4 de Caza starting in August 1973 and deliveries to Grupo 8 de Caza starting in January 1974. The 1976 US Presidential elections saw incoming President Jimmy Carter highlight issues of human rights and eventually secure a congressional cutoff of all US arms transfers to Argentina and the FAA found it increasingly hard to support Phantom operations except by clandestine support. The FAA used the Phantom during the 1982 Guerra de las Malvinas as a long-range strike aircraft but the FAA's lack of aerial refueling capability and the long distance from their bases dramatically reduced their ability. After 1982 the FAA's Phantom force was increasingly supported by Israel Aircraft Industries and although no additional aircraft could be sourced the remaining 17 aircraft remained in service until 2010.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4DA folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4DA folder into your Decals folder.
That's it! For Argentine weapons I recommend you get them from the excellent SF2 Falklands Mod (Redux) by eburger68.

Lockheed F-19A 'Sniper' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock MiG-19S to create a fictional Lockheed F-19A 'Sniper' in service with USN & USMC Aggressor Squadrons in the 1974 to 2003 timeline.

    BACKSTORY
Only during the mid-1980's was it revealed that an unexpected outcome of President Nixon's historic visit to China in 1972 was the purchase of 30 Shenyang J-6 fighters for use as Aggressor aircraft. The aircraft were clandestinely delivered early in 1974 with the US Navy taking 22 aircraft and the US Marine Corps taking the balance of 8 which entered service with VMFT-401 in April 1976. In service, the aircraft were supported by specialist teams from Lockheed and were eventually designated F-19A with the unofficial name of 'Sniper'.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-19A folder into your Aircraft folder.

  16. [Fictional] Douglas Dakota C.3 - RAF Desert Camo

Douglas Dakota C.3 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock C-47A to create a Dakota C.3 in service with the Royal Air Force in the 1948-1967 timeline. Of course, the Royal Air Force were a big user of the Dakota but not in this fictional desert camo scheme which is loosely based on the original Lockheed Hercules C.1 scheme of the very early 1970's (quite an odd scheme for the times). It is flyable and RECON has been added as a secondary role so that you fly low-level recce missions and watch those MiG's stall and crash!

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the DakotaC3 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the DakotaC3 folder into your Decals folder.

    No.11 Squadron - 'The Rams'
    No.13 Squadron - 'The Antelopes'
Whilst we now have Third Wire Vampires I hope this version is of interest to those who don't have that particular expansion pack and it also allows me to use Stary's lovely Vampire cockpit.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the VampireFB7 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the VampireFB7 folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop both folders into your Weapons folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
Thanks to TK for the continuous improvement of a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to Pasko for this superb add-on aircraft (one of his many).
Thanks also to Gramps for the desert camo skin and also to Don (C5) for the FM which works just fine in SF2.

  18. [Fictional] Hawker Hunter F.6 'Red Arrows'

Hawker Hunter F.6 ' Red Arrows' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock Hawker Hunter F.6 to give my interpretation as to how it might have looked if the famous Red Arrows display team had flown it in the 1960's. I've kept it simple by using a Gnat-esque scheme but I've used white serial numbers instead of blue.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the HunterF6ra folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the HunterF6ra folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!
BTW the mission editor can be used to select all 9 aircraft leaving you to get some formation screenshots taken!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
A big thank you to Sundowner for releasing his Hunter tempates to allow ham-fisted amateurs like me to get a bit creative.
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-102J folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop all folders into your Weapons folder.
That's it! For sheer simplicity, this mod uses stock Third Wire F-4EJ decals.

  20. [Fictional] Hawker Hurricane 'Furacão'

Hawker Hurricane 'Furacão' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of Raven's radial engined Hawker Hurricane to create a fictional 'Furacão' in service with the Poruguese Air Force in the 1942-1954 timeline.
    BACKSTORY
The Hawker Hurricane entered service with the Royal Air Force at the end of 1937 when No.111 Squadron re-equipped with the type at RAF Northolt. By late 1938 the production capacity for Hurricanes at the Hawker Siddeley Aircraft group of companies was sufficient not only to meet the needs of the RAF's ambitious expansion scheme but also sufficient to allow exports to Yugoslavia, South Africa, Romania, Persia, Belgium, Poland and Turkey. Belgium and Yugoslavia had both negotiated production licences but only a handful were produced by Avions Fairey in Belgium before the German invasion in May 1940 and in Yugoslavia the Zmaj factory managed to build 20 Hurricanes before the German invasion in April 1941.
At the start of World War 2, Portugal was keen to both maintain it's neutrality and also bolster it's defences - recognising that the Portuguese mainland was of strategic importance as was it's island territories of Maderia and the Azores. Indeed, both the UK and Germany considered invading the islands but British diplomacy won the day in June 1940 when the UK formally asked for use of the Azores by invoking the Aliança Luso-Britânica (Anglo-Portuguese Alliance) of 1386 which is still the oldest alliance in the history in the world that is still in force. In return, Portugal asked for a wide variety of defence equipment from the UK including "100 modern monoplane fighter aircraft". With the UK facing a desperate struggle the Portuguese 'wish list' was largely unfulfilled until much later in the war but in December 1940 the British government agreed to supply 100 Hurricane fighters by the end of the following year.
However, there was an urgent demand for Rolls-Royce Merlin engines for the RAF's day fighters and also for the Boulton & Paul Defiant and Bristol Beaufighter night fighters. In addition, RAF Bomber Command were about to go on the offensive with the Handley-Page Halifax having just entered service and the superlative Avro Lancaster and de Havilland Mosquito were both on the horizon. In February 1941 the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, blocked the sale outright but Sydney Camm at Hawker considered that the Hurricane airframe could be adapted to take a different engine and Camm was already aware that Roy Fedden of the Bristol Engine Company had developed a modular engine installation or 'power egg' for the Bristol Hercules radial engine. Fedden and Camm quickly schemed the Hercules powered Hurricane Mk.III and instructed the Gloster Aircraft Company, who had been manufacturing Hurricanes for the RAF on behalf of its parent company since 1939, to slot in 250 Hurricane Mk.III's onto the Hucclecote production line. Whilst there was no Hurricane Mk.III prototype as such, the first two production aircraft were thoroughly tested by Gloster's chief test pilot Gerry Sayer and also by Bill Humble of Hawker's and both praised it's flying characteristics noting that "the aircraft is simple and easy to fly and has no apparent vices" although the stalling speed was 8 knots higher than a standard Hurricane.
The first 100 Hurricane Mk.III's were crated and shipped to Portugal arriving at Santo Amaro in November 1941. After local assembly, they were flown to Ota Air Base and Sintra Air Base to eventually equip six day fighter squadrons of the Aeronáutica Militar (Army Aviation) although, at the time, these squadrons (typically, with 15 aircraft on strength) were confusingly classed as 'flights' with two-digit flight codes that were used to designate the squadron. 'SU' Flight were the first to be declared operational at Ota in April 1942 followed by 'MP' flight at Sintra. In Aeronáutica Militar service the Hurricane aircraft were locally known as the Furacão and remained in service even after the formation of the Força Aérea Portuguesa in 1952 and it was not until August 1954 that the Furacão finally passed from service.
    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Furacao folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Furacao folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the FuracaoTank into your Weapons folder.
    That's it!
    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.

  22. [Fictional] Westland Whirlwind Mk.2D

Westland Whirlwind Mk.2D for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of Veltro2K's Westland Whirlwind to create a fictional "Desert Whirlibomber" in service with No.6 Squadron of the Royal Air Force in the 1941-1944 timeline.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Whirlwind2D folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Whirlwind2D folder into your Decals folder.
That's it! Bombs, tanks and sounds are all stock items but you will need to add a WW2 pilot (not supplied). Please note that this older 3D model does have some 'rope' issues that you can remove by turning shadows to FALSE. It's a tricky beast to get off the ground, requiring slow advancement of the throttle and a gentle touch, but is otherwise OK.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Big thanks to Veltro2K for the Whirlwind... and so much more!
