  1. [Fictional] British Aerospace Sea Kestrel FRS.1

BAe Sea Kestrel FRS.1 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a fictional operational version of the British Aerospace P.1214 project in service with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm.

The 3D model is by Cocas and I've been honoured to have been allowed to play with it and package it up for release as best as I can with limited time but I hope you enjoy it as much as I have because it's huge fun! Three Royal Navy skins are included in two different shades of grey and I've also included a USMC 'Shamrocks' skin as a bonus.

    BACKSTORY

The cancellation of the proposed CVA-01 aircraft carrier in 1966 left the Royal Navy with no replacements in sight for both HMS Eagle and HMS Ark Royal and thus began a slow and painful run down in the Fleet Air Arm's fixed-wing capability. But in April 1973 the Admiralty were given a glimmer of hope by being allowed to procure three 'anti-submarine warfare' carriers of the Invincible class. Whilst primarily designed to accommodate large numbers of medium sized ASW helicopters the Admiralty sensibly allowed for the deployment of the V/STOL Harrier and quickly followed up the order for the carriers with an initial order for 24 Sea Harriers (later increased to 34).

Entering service in 1978 (but not declared operational until 1981) the small Sea Harrier force performed remarkably well in the 1982 Falklands Conflict and with confidence high the Admiralty immediately planned for the attrition replacement of the six Harriers lost, the speedy introduction of an improved version and also the design and development of a supersonic V/STOL successor. The first two elements of this plan were immediately approved but, in January 1983, the Admiralty were informed that the Sea Harrier replacement would have to be part of the RAF's Air Staff Target 403 (AST 403) essentially for a planned successor for the Jaguar and Harrier in RAF service.

During this time the British Aerospace (BAe) design team at Kingston (formerly the Hawker design team) had been sketching advanced V/STOL designs to meet AST 403 and could see that the involvement of the Royal Navy would lead to a larger UK programme and also open up a larger export market for an aircraft designed both for land-based and carrier-based use. By March 1983 the Kingston design team had dusted off their P.1214 project and offered several versions to the UK Ministry of Defence. The build-up to the 1983 British General Election saw the Conservative Party, led by Margaret Thatcher, make capital of the UK's victory in the previous year's Falklands War and on the promise of 'strong defence' announced the decision to procure a successor to the Sea Harrier on June 2nd, 1983 with an order for 50 P.1214's for the Fleet Air Arm and a further 200 P.1214's for the RAF with initial deliveries going to the Royal Navy. Development moved smoothly and, as a nod towards the P.1214's lineage, the BAe design team renamed the aircraft Kestrel II.

Entering service in May 1988 with the newly reformed 899 Naval Air Squadron the Sea Kestrel FRS.1 served with four frontline Fleet Air Arm squadrons seeing service in both Gulf Wars and also the Second Falklands War of 2002.

  2. 'What nearly was' Royal New Zealand Air force F-16A/B Block 15 OCU/MLU Anthology.

'What nearly was' Royal New Zealand Air force F-16A/B Block 15 OCU/MLU Anthology.

When doing some research about the proposed Kahu II upgrade for the RNZAF A-4K fleet I found some good info on the New Zealand F-16 deal 'that nearly was' in the late 1990s/early 2000s. I decided to make as accurate 'what if' version I could.

Ive used the Mirage factory F-16A/B Block 15 OCU model which is the version we would have received as they were built for Pakistan but embargoed and put in storage.

I added a A-4K style UHF antenna just behind the refuelling receptacle.

I've left the weapons the same as used by the upgraded A-4K fleet in 2001 except for the addition of the Litening targeting pod and Harpoon ASM which were going to be procured along side the F-16. Since the RNZAFs primary role is close air support it was unlikely any extra money was going to be spent on any radar guided missile, such as the AIM-120, as their air-to-air role was seen as one of primarily self defence.

The terms of the deal included a Mid Life Upgrade at the end of the 10 year lease period when we would have purchased the aircraft. As part of the MLU I have included the integration of the AIM-9X along with the JHMCS as it stands to reason that the RNZAF's AIM-9L models would have been considered to be going out of date by 2009. The Pylon Integrated Dispensing System (PIDS) has also been included as part of the MLU as it is in some European Mid Life Upgrades.

Also on the MLU aircraft are ALQ-131 ECM pods which there were provisions for in the original terms of the lease but most likely would have been pushed out to the time of the MLU because of the extra costs.

There are 4 separate aircraft that represent the 13 'A' and 9 'B' model Vipers before and after a Mid Life Upgrade (MLU):

-F-16A Blk 15 OCU RNZAF (What if?)

-F-16B Blk 15 OCU RNZAF (What if?)

-F-16AM Blk 15 MLU RNZAF (What if?)

-F-16BM Blk 15 MLU RNZAF (What if?)

I've given the A models the serial numbers NZ6301 through to NZ6313 and the B models NZ6314 through to NZ6322

2 Different skins for the operational aircraft are included which are; the Pakistani style camouflage scheme the aircraft were already painted when New Zealand placed the order and they would have been delivered in. As well as an all over medium grey used on all current RNZAF aircraft since around 2003.

8 Special/Commemorative skins are also included such as; high-viz Commanding Officers aircraft, Rugby World Cup All Blacks supporters scheme, a couple of retro Kiwi Skyhawk style skins, an Aggressor skin plus a few others.

You can use the mission editor to load alternate loadout options that include the AIM-120 or are specific to close air support roles in Afghanistan etc

Also included is a extensive RWR.LST and set of RWR.TGA files.

    INSTILLATION:

Just Extract the files, then drag and drop into your mods folder and override when prompted.

These F-16 are a mix match between the best parts of all the F-16 mods available with new/modified/enhanced skins of my own. I've also re written most of the data.ini and avionics.ini files with updated data from the net especially when it comes to the performance of the radar after the MLU update.

  3. MiG-21bisD1-3

    MiG-21bisD1-3 german updateprogram (What if)
    ***********************************

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    I. This mod is written for SF2
(a special WoE version is available in the download section)

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    II. History:

In January 1991 the Bundesverteidigungsministerium (ministery of defence of the Federal Republic Germany) decided to phase out all MiG-21 which were handed over after the reunification of Germany and scrap them.
Two mounth later ingenieurs of the german DASA company (became later part of EADS) wrote a letter of memorandum to the chairmen of their company. In their memo they stated, that an updateprogram for the MiG-21 would be a profitable cashcow for the DASA company. As reasons for their statement they gave some points:
    1. Repair and updatefacilities are already existing with the Flugzeugwerft Dresden
    2. Skilled personal is available
    3. Good connections to eastern Europe contries are given, because a lot of WP MiG's were repaired and overhauled in Dresden in the past.
    4. The eastern european states are attempting to leave the zone of influence of the Sovietunion and will try to become closer to the western alliance.
    5. The economic situation of the former WP states is so weak, that it is unlikely, that they will be able to purchase modern western equipment in the next decade. What means, that they will use the weapons they already have for a while.
    6. The backbone of the fighter fleet of states like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania is still the MiG-21. Its an easy and cheap to operate plane and it is believed, that this plane will held in operational status till the year 2000.
Conclusion: For states which are willing to become members of the NATO and still operating the MiG-21 is an offer of a german made MiG-21 update program a welcome gift. It brings the MiG-21 to NATO standard and helps the economic weak states to operate a significant fighter fleet. To support our selling attempts is is neccessary, that the Luftwaffe must operate the updated MiG-21 in significant numbers over a periode of 5 years minimum.

In March 1991 the chairmen of the DASA decided to start a MiG-21 update program. Close informal connections to the Bundeskanzleramt and the MOD changed the fate of the MiG-21 in german service. The former east german Jagdgeschwader 8, based in Preschen, was relaunched under the new name "Erprobungsgeschwader 8". As operating aircraft only the MiG-21bis was choosen.

In April 1991, the DASA offered 3 update levels for the MiG-21 with the task to improve the combat capabilities of the plane by minimal changes in original design. The project name was MiG-21bisD. The D stands for Deutschland, the german name for Germany.

MiG-21bisD1, electronic update. It consist of the replacement of the RP-22 radar with the italian Grifo-7M, the implementation of an avionics container at the tailfin root, which contains an internal jammer SPS-142, a chaff - flare dispenser and parts of the NATO compatible radio equipment. The weapon system was modified to operate Sidewinder missiles, side by side with soviet made weapons. Only the R-3R missile was withdrawn, because the radar was unable to guide this weapon. The first MiG-21bisD1 was ready in November 1991 and entered the german service in spring 1992. In August 1992 the first MiG-21bisD1 was sold to Poland.

MiG-21bisD2, agility update. With this update the MiG-21bis got a pair of canards to improve the agility of the plane, an inflight refuel probe, new NATO compatible radio and a new french made IFF system. The radar RP-22 was slightly improved by better computers, so that the range was increased by 10% and the target quisition time reduced by 50%. The weapon system changes consist only of the Sidewinder implementation. The first D2 was completed in December 1991 and entered german service in summer 1992. First costumer was the Hungary in spring 1993, followed by Croatia in summer 1993.
A subversion was the MiG-21bisD2Cz for the Czech Republic which based on the MiG-21MF-75 and was delivered in mid 1993. This planes got the updated RP-22DM radars taken from the former east german MiG-21bis, but still had the old R-13-300 engines.

MiG-21bisD3, full NATO compatibility. This modification included the MiG-21bisD1 avionic update and the D2 agility update. Additionally the plane plane got a new engine. The old R-25-300 was replaced by the RB-199 Mk.105 which was developed for the Tornado ECR. It was ~ 5% stronger than the R-25 and a good piece shorter. The now existing space was used for a bigger internal fuel volume. In Spring 1992 the first MiG-21bisD3 started for maiden flight, but the program came to a temporary stop, when the british company GEC Marconi Avionics offered their Blue Hawk and Blue Vixen radars to the program. In summer 1992 the implementation of the Blue Vixen was finished and in spring 1993 the plane became able to operate the new american AIM-120A AMRAAM missile. The first MiG-21bisD3 entered the german service in November 1993. It proofed as a reliable, capable and cheap to operate aircraft. In 1993 the "Erprobungsgeschwader 8" was renamed in JG75 "Erich Hartmann". It operated the MiG-21bisD3 and a later D4 update till it was replaced by the first Eurofighter Typhoon in 2004.
Poland got the D3 in 1995, Romania in 1996. India showed an increased interesse for a licence production of the D3, but when the USA denied the AMRAAM capability India retreated from program and purchased the MiG-21BISON from Russia.

*You =MUST= have the Mystere IVA avaiable in your merged installs, as the aircraft now references THIS cockpit. SF2:E is also required, at minimum, as the BLW aircraft now reference the stock 3W decals (F-104G), as does the French AdA skins.*

Some modifications and capability upgrades for Cocas's fun little "What If.." Dassault Epervier (Sparrowhawk). If you do not have the aircraft, it's available at the following URL:

    http://combatace.com/files/file/15963-sf2-%C3%A9pevier/

Obviously, you'll the need the aircraft to add the mod pack too!

2 new skins have been added:

    Natural Metal
    2-tone Brown Desert

Both the new skins carry French Air Force makings, and ALL skins make use of stock 3W decals.
All markings are decals, making it easy for other nations/users to be created. It should be noted, the userlist ini included ONLY has France and WGermany. Others will have to be added by the End Users ™.

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. The "Notes" section contains the full change log.

  8. [Fictional] IAI/Mikoyan Gurevych MiG-29I Shu'Al (Fox)

IAI/Mikoyan Gurevych MiG-29I Shu'Al (Fox) for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 (Israel or Merged)

I modded the MiG-29 from The Mirage Factory to make it look like a fictional fighter and recon plane for the israeli air force.

    BACKGROUND
During the first Iraq War in 1991, a group of iraqi MiG-29 decided to desert trying to escape the fate their comrades faced against the overwhelming power of the USAF, US Navy and their allies. Their escape ended over the Golan Heights, where they were intercepted by a entire squadron of F-15 Baz and F-16 Netz patrolling. Due to some misunderstanding between the deserters and the defending pilots, two MiG-29 were shot down and the remaining ones got escorted to the Ramat David Airbase.

Israel handed the pilots over to the US for further interrogation and kept the MiGs for studies. The capabilities of the plane convinced the commanders of the IDF. Israel offered Mikoyan Gurevych a offer for the license they could not refuse to accept, since MiG suffered a lot financially after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The MiG-29 was modified by IAI. Two years later, the first MiG-29I Shu'Al did it's maiden flight on the 24th of June 1993.

  10. [Fictional] Grumman F-14A Tomcat 'COAN'

Grumman F-14A 'COAN' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:NORTH ATLANTIC

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-14A_77 to give a fictional Tomcat F-14A 'COAN' as it might have appeared in service with the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina and includes fictional markings for the famous 2nd Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Caza y Ataque (2nd Fighter/Attack Squadron).

You must have Strike Fighters:North Atlantic for the Third Wire F-14A Tomcat and for the optional carrier.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-14A_COAN folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-14A_COAN folder into your Decals folder.

    3. From the GROUND OBJECTS folder drag and drop the BernardinoRivadavia folder into your Ground Objects folder.*

    4. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_COAN into your Pilots folder.

    5. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AM39 folder into your Weapons folder.

    * You'll really need to add 'ArgentineNavy' to the limited nations section of the ICELANDNA_NATIONS data.ini (which you'll need to extract). Doing this yourself will allow you to align the Argentine Navy to a 'colour' of your choice.

    CREDITS

As always, thanks to TK for a great little game/sim.

Thanks to Ravenclaw007 for the AM39 Exocet missile.

And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  11. Kometa.7z

Comet KSK-aircraft "K". Experimental aircraft- analog cruise missile ?S-1. Comet Stalin.
    History:

...The first flight carried out analog test pilot Amet-Khan Sultan from the Air Force Institute Chkalov airfield in January 4, 1951, then the test was moved to the Crimean Air Force test site. From May began air starts counterpart aboard the Tu-4. Total participated in the testing of four aircraft "K", which Amet-Khan, S.Anohin, F.Burtsev, V. Pavlov and P.Kazmin completed 150 flights. With the transition to working out starts on the real target was adjusted guidance and control system "Comet" - an analog of relief after walking on the target, like a combat missile, and only in the final section of the pilot shut off homing, took it over and come back to the airfield. All flights went well, although the pilots consider them extremely difficult. In one such flight analogue Amet-Khan escaped suspension with an inoperative engine that could only run at the water, the other - at Burtsev turning off the autopilot and he hardly overpowering servos, barely able to turn away from the target ship...

  13. SF2 WW2 Focke Wulf P.II Jet Fighter by Timmy

SF2 WW2 Focke Wulf P.II Jet Fighter by Timmy - A What If Luft '46 Mod

-- Something for the WW2 ETO players --
    = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged ( Full-5 Reccomended/Preferred) =

*There is a possibility that this mod may work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs. However due to the excessive modifications made to fit into the SF2 environment, not all features will be avaliable.*
*Note X2: this mod is designed for use =ONLY= in the ETO envrionment. A seperate skin for the MTO is included, but not 'activated'

Mods, rebuilds, and general 'messing with' for Timmy's FW P.II jet fighter, to bring it more in line with SF2 useage.
This mod is designed to REPLACE any 1stGen variant you may have in your WW2 ETO intalls. It is reccomended you delete the aircraft and decals folders of the originals, as to NOT cause any conflicts with THIS mod.
This package represents P.II Project, as a production model called "Ta-173" (I couldn't think of anything else!) as deployed in Western Europe and the Med. Skins/Decals in this pak are:

    JG 1 Oesau

    JG 2 Richthofen

JG27 Afrika, in a overall 'tan' desert camo (stored in a seperate folder inside the main aircraft folder called 'a-MTO skin'). It is suggested that this skin ONLY be used in an MTO-centric mods folder (it would look funny in western Europe!!)

Skins are in their original bmp format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE. New damage textures are included, in DDS format.

A (semi) compliant SF2 FM was cobbled together from various sources. As always, while it works well enough, further fine tuning is required by Experten.
Sounds, pilot figures and weapons (R4M rack) are included, as well a new SF2 Hangar and/or Loading screens, in jpg format.
Mission tasking has been limited, due to the aircraft's rather short range.

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Timmy's original readme is included for historical purposes.

    Happy Hunting!

  15. RAAF A-6 Intruder Pack

This mod adds the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as a user of the A-6 Intruder. It has been tested with Strike Fighters 2 Full 5+2 merged install with the A-6 Superpack 1.51 installed. It should work with less than a full 5+2, but requires the following SF2 versions to take advantage of the respective components:

    SF2V for the A-6A
    SF2NA for the A-6E and A-6E_79

The A-6 Superpack 1.51 or later is recommended, but not required in order to use the A-6A, A-6E, and A-6E_79. The A-6 Superpack 1.51 is required in order to use the A-6E_90 Systems and Weapons Improvement Program (SWIP) variant.

The included SQUADRONLIST.INI is a part of the file that will be included in the Combat Ace Realism Pack. As a result, it is compatible with DaddyAirplanes' F-4 Post Vietnam skin pack. At the time of this writing, the Combat Ace Realism Pack has not been released. If you have downloaded this pack after installing the Combat Ace Realism Pack, then be sure not to copy over the included SQUADRONLIST.INI, as a more updated one will be included in the Realism Pack.

In order to take advantage of the full features of the RAAF Intruder Pack, this readme is intended to be used in conjunction with the Readme for the A-6 Superpack 1.51. Thorough reading of this file and strict adherence to the instructions is highly recommended. As always before making any changes to your SF2 install, back up early and back up often!

    Introduction
As early as 1954, the Australian government first publicly discussed the need for replacing the Canberra. The Canberra lacked radar and electronic countermeasures (ECM), and the RAAF believed that it needed a new strategic bomber to fulfill the nation's obligations to the Commonwealth Strategic Reserve in Malaysia, ANZUS, and SEATO. A requirement mandated an all-weather attack aircraft capable of delivering a variety of bombs and missiles.
Air Marshal Valston Hancock, Chief of the Air Staff, stated in April 1960 that Australia needed a replacement for the Canberra, and in 1962 Indonesia's increasingly aggressive statements regarding Malaysia soon caused Australia to seriously consider Hancock’s statement. The Sydney Morning Herald reported in October 1962 that the Indonesian Air Force's Soviet Tupolev Tu-16 bombers could reach Sydney or any other Australian city with a light bomb load, while the Canberras could not fly in all weather and had insufficient range to reach Djakarta.
However, available bombers were unsuitable for the RAAF. The American Boeing B-52 Stratofortress and Convair B-58 Hustler, for example, were too large for existing Australian runways. More suitable aircraft such as the British BAC TSR-2 and the American F-111 would soon be available.
Candidates for replacing the Canberra included the French Dassault Mirage IV, the TSR-2, and the U.S. North American A-5 Vigilante, Grumman A-6 Intruder, McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II and the General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark.

    Decision and Alternate History
When the RAAF was evaluating the replacement aircraft for the Canberra, they eventually settled on the F-111. The F-111 met the RAAF endurance and all weather attack requirements, as well as being supersonic and having a respectable self-defense capability. The government determined that it did not need to go ahead with an immediate replacement for the Canberra and opted for the F-111 as a long-term solution, leading to the October 1963 announcement that it was ordering 24 F-111s.
The development and production lifecycle for the F-111 was complex, lengthy, and troubled on occasion. Additional requests by the Australian government to modify the existing F-111A airframe to what would become the F-111C only lengthened the acquisition process. While the announcement to purchase the F-111 was made in 1963, the first F-111C was not delivered until 1968 . In the interim, the RAAF was using the F-4 Phantom II as a stopgap measure.
What if the RAAF decided to forego the troubled (at the time) F-111 and augment its force of F-4 Phantoms with the A-6 Intruder as its all-weather, deep strike platform?
This pack is strictly a "What If" set of skins and loadouts that explores what might have happened if Australia purchased the A-6 Intruder from the United States. This pack includes skins for the A-6A, A-6E, A-6E_79 (TRAM), and A-6E_90 (SWIP) in the Southeast Asia (SEA) camouflage pattern, as well as other variants based on the RAAF camouflage schemes of the time. Given that the A-6 Intruder is meant to replace the F-111C Aardvark, this pack features the squadrons, skins, and serial numbers of actual F-111 airframes (though serial numbers of aircraft involved in fatal mishaps have been omitted out of respect for the fallen). Second squadron is represented, as it flew the Canberra in the Vietnam War, and First and Sixth squadrons have been added to SQUADRONLIST.INI as the actual squadrons that flew the F-111 (and therefore the A-6). A-6 specific squadron logos have also been added to the RAAF squadrons included in the Mirage IIIO DLC, though this was done for completeness rather than “alternate historical accuracy.”

    Limitations
This mod enhances default aircraft. If you don't have the default A-6 LODs, then this mod is of limited value to you.
Additionally, this pack is unfortunately not flyable without further modification. You will need to provide your own cockpit in order to enable player use of the A-6. Two notable options are extracting the A-6 cockpit from Wings over Vietnam, or by purchasing RAZBAM's excellent A-6 pack for Strike Fighters (recommended). Likewise, plenty of existing SF1 A-6 mods include cockpits that are compatible with this pack. Regardless of which selection you prefer, any cockpit you use for the A-6 Superpack will be compatible with the RAAF A-6 Intruder Pack as well.

    Installation
The RAAF A-6 Intruder Pack is divided into three components: the Primary Component (RAAF A-6 Intruder Skins), a folder for widescreen users that replaces the existing 1024x768 aircraft screens with 1440x900 images, and Section 2 of the Readme file which provides instructions for optional and recommended adjustments to existing INI files. Please see the readme file for further details.

  16. SF2 Avro VZ-9 Aerocar Pak

    SF2 Avro VZ-9 Aerocar Pak 10/15/2015

= For SF2 (Any & All, Full 4/5 Merged Reccomended)

A "What If" aircraft for you enjoyment.

** Can be used in any install that has access to the A-4B & A-4E Skyhawks hence the need for either a Full 4 or Full 5 Merged Install, as both these cockpits are refrenced for the 2 aircraft. Also, serial number decals from the CF-104 and F-105D are used. You must have these aircraft to gain access to the various bits.**

Some reworking of Simon Porter's Avro Aerocar from 2005, brings it (pretty much!) up to SF2 standards. Be advised, however, there are still a few small issues; most of which stem from the fact the aircraft is one continious mesh, with no sub meshes. This is the main reason that most markings are painted on. See "Change Log" for details.

This pack contains 2 aircraft, and is based on the assumption (oh! that word!) the major bugs had been worked out, and it entered service with the RCAF and USAF for use as a battlefield scout and light attack aircraft.

    Aerocar Mk.I (VZ-9A) with 2 skins (1959 start date):

    RCAF
    USAF
    both in NM finish

    Aerocar Mk.III (VZ-9C) with 4 skins (1965 start date):

    RCAF
    USAF (both early, in NM)
RCAF_L (late, overall dark green ala CF-104)
USAFCamo (USAF Camo SEA T.O. 1-1-4)

The 2 late skins the C use the SF2 "date switch" and will turn on in 1966 (USAFCamo) and 1973 (RCAF_L).

All stock items are used, from cockpits, pilots, weapons, sounds, decal and whatnots. The other add-on items (fake pilot, radar pod, pylons) are included. While skins remain in bmp format, damage textures are in DDS.

When in-game, you'll see on the Aircraft Selection Drop-down...

    VZ-9A Aerocar (Mk.I)
    and
    VZ-9C Aerocar (Mk.III)

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Simon Porter's original readme is included for historical purposes.

  18. MiG-17K and KP carrier borne fighters

MiG-17K and MiG-17KP Soviet Navy carrierborne fighters (What if) v1.1
    *****************************************************
This mod is made for SF2NA.

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    I. History

In 1946 the UK had a lot of major problems. It suffered high losses during WW2 and war damages all over the country were significant. The industry layed down and a lot of war depts pressed the economy further. On the other hand the Royal Navy had a lot of ships which were not neccessary anymore. So it was decided to sell some major ships, including aircraft carriers. So the HMS Colossus was sold to France, the HMS Warrior went to Canada. The Netherlands wanted to buy the Venerable and Australia was interessted in the Venegance.
1946 the Soviet Union showed their wish to buy 3 carriers of the Colossus class and offered a price of 50tons of fine gold. So the last 3 carriers of the Colossus class, the Theseus, Triumph and Perseus were handed over to the Soviet Sea War Fleet and became the names TAKR Odessa, TAKR Kronstadt and TAKR Sewastopol.
Odessa and Kronstadt were operated by the Northern Fleet, while the Sewastopol was operated by the Baltic fleet for 6 years. In 1952 all carriers were sent back to Navy wharfs to refit them with an angle deck. the blueprints of this innovative design was stolen by the Cambridge Five. In 1955 the Odessa became operational again The Kronstadt followed one year later and the Sewastopol reentered the service in 1957. All 3 carriers were used till mid 70th.

After refit with angle deck the MiG-17 became the core of the Odessa flight group. The MiG-17K was developed from the MiG-17F and was used for daylight operations and in the air to ground role. For bad weather and night operations the MiG-17KP was developed from the MiG-17PF. In 1967 both types were updated to carry the AA-2 Atoll (R-3S) missile.

  20. Mikoyan-Gurevich Ye-8A and M

This aircraft mod represents Mikoyan-Gurevich's Ye-8 experimental fighter and its fictional updated "M" variant. There are slight variations compared to the actual prototype and the pits are pure fictional as there are no pictures that show how that looked in its original form, so its a mix of various systems used or developed in that time frame that the aircraft was developed.
This package comes with 3 skin set for each variant, with decals for Soviet aircraft, since birds for LSK and Czechoslovakia use stock decals.
This model is meant for SF2 games only, and SF2 Europe is required as some of the skins use stock decal numbers.
Install is the regular dropping the contents in their respective places.
Please note: The model might gets heavy on FPS in large formations on weaker machines, so if required, either resize skin files or use lower lod "_nd" as lod1.
New weapons are provided - some type specific - beside these the model uses the general Soviet weapons.
Be aware - In the 1970's and later when AA-8 can be selected, manually double loadout of these can happen.
Make sure to read the manual included with the package.

I'm releasing this 'as is' (in response to a request) but it could do with a host of further refinements and I've quickly put the Third Wire A-7E_74 pit in there to get you up and running although I think there is a later AMX in the downloads section that might have a better cockpit.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the A-14A folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the A-14A folder into your Decals folder.

    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AMX_EFT_580lts folder into your Weapons folder.

    CREDITS

As always, big thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.

Massive thanks to Rafael Rodrigues for the AMX.

And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  22. [Fictional] Saunders-Roe Firebar FAW.2

    Saunders-Roe Firebar FAW.2 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the Yak-28P 'Firebar' to give a very fictional Saunders-Roe Firebar FAW.2 in service with No.29 squadron of the Royal Air Force. The Firebar is such a cool-looking Cold War jet and after dressing it up in RAF markings and posting screenshots a couple of people asked for it so here it is.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the FirebarFAW2 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the FirebarFAW2 folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the Redstorm folder into your Weapons folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to Pasko for bringing so many cool aircraft to the Strike Fighters community including this gem.
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  23. SF2 NAA F2J Super Fury Pack (What If...) by Cocas & Co.

SF2 NAA F2J Super Fury Pack (What If...) by Cocas & Co.            11/15/2017
    = For SF2 (Full-4/5 Merged Reccomended) =
*Note: you =MUST= have, as stated above have, at minimum, a Full-4 merged install, as this mod makes use of many stock items, most importantly, the cockpits from the F-100 Super Sabre, F-8 Crusader. Therefore, it's =vitally= important that your game version(s) have access to these cockpits. However, alternate cockpits have supplied.*
The is the release of a new "What If..." Us Navy & Marines carrier-based fighter-bomber, the F2J "Super Fury" series. These aircraft has been tested in the SF2:NA, Full-5 environment, and is carrier capable/certified. The Standard Animation Keystrokes (tm) are used for the Caonpy (Shift/0) and wingfold (Shift/9).
The F2J-3N is the only version exported, all others are USN/USMC only.
This package includes 4 aircraft, with skins for their various users:
    F2J-1
    F2J-2
    F2J-3N
    F2J-4

The F2J-3N is an export version with skins/decals for the following users:
Royal Navy, FAA (Super Fury FAW.1, 893 NAS, various ships)
Royal Australian Navy (724 NAS, HMAS Melborne)
Royal Canadian Navy (VF-781, HMCS Bonaventure)*
*Note, there are 2 RCN skins, for pre- and post- unification of the Armed Forces (RCN ---> CAF). Also, due to game limitations, and the non-existence of "Royal Canadian Navy", the displayed Nation Name on the Loadout screen will read either "Royal Canadain Air Force" or "Canadian Armed Forces", depending on mission year chosen.
All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. Weapons used are all stock 3W items. Skins are in jpg format, and damage textures are DDS. All other parts (pilots, seats) are supplied. Each skin has it own specific hangar screen.
As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. One can find more fun reading all the Notes section as well!
    Happy Landings!

  24. [Fictional] F-104I 'Kohav' (Star) for SF2:Europe

    F-104I for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a simple mod of the Third Wire Lockheed Starfighter F-104G to give a fictional F-104I 'Kohav' (Star) of the Israeli Air Force with markings for No.119 squadron - "The Bat Squadron". As this download relies on the stock Third Wire F-104G LODs then you must have SF2:Europe where TK has thoughfully left them for us.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-104I folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-104I folder into your main Decals folder.

    SKINS/MARKINGS

I wanted to capture the look of the early Mirage IIIC's in Israeli service and saw a photograph of a No.119 squadron machine with red/white rudder stripes and a red fin marking and decided to copy that. As there are no hi-res squadron patch images for No.119 squadron I designed by own, I hope you like it!

    CREDITS

Special thanks to guyran for suggesting the Hebrew name of 'Kohav'.

And special thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.
