in the moment you can not send any mail to me because my computer just died , i can not start windows , so i installed a 1T SSD to install a new windows but even that is not working windows is unable to make a installation

dont know what is happening but something is totaly wrong here

i also made a reset to the bios but no luck

if i start the computer he is sometimes very fast also with the installation cd and than for no reason he slows down and needs 30 minutes or more for something he did before in 5 minutes  , starting windows is a no go , new installation is a no go , dont know what to do

so i´m off for a while , at least until i know what the hell is going on

Could this have something to do with Microsoft's move to impose Win 11 on the entire world? Obviously the install will try to communicate with Microsoft to verify certain things. If possible try to reinstall without an active internet connection, no cables router/modem.

Good luck, hope you get it working!

no, if he's working like alot of the old heads are around here, his system is probably too old/no TPM to run Win11.

and why impose Win11 on the world, when Win12 is around the corner? and theyre still trying to get people off of XP.....

Hey Volker, please check the RAM modules, if you have more than one, install one at the time.

Possibly a RAM Issue.

Or the cooling... old dried up thermal interface, dying fan or pump, the CPU heats up fast, throttles, therefore performs far under specs creating performance and installation issues. Would also explains why it might start fine and then degrade.

I see some similarities with a fried video card. When that happened to me with an fx5500, my machine became totally unpredictable and no indication that the card was at fault.

It took me about 4 weeks searching the web before I started to believe. In the mean time I had tried several reinstalls of the OS and all drivers. A cheap used Gforce2 send to me by mail from Australia kept my Dimension 8100 going till today. Hey it's 25 years old now, 🥳
