FastCargo Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 The FM is nasty though...I based it heavily off the F-100D...but in WOI it's pretty much a straight and level only...it departs WAY too quickly... FastCargo Quote
+streakeagle Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 If only they had put the intake on the bottom... would have been a low powered precursor to the F-16 (much like a variant of the MiG-21). Quote
FastCargo Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 If only they had put the intake on the bottom... would have been a low powered precursor to the F-16 (much like a variant of the MiG-21). Well, the original design called for that exactly. However, the semi-recessed weapon (obstensibly a nuke) was judged to have unpleasant separation characteristics with the undernose intake...which is why it was switched to the top. Here's a mockup of the original proposal: Frankly, I can't decide which looks goofier... FastCargo Quote
Dreamstar Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Oh Great ive got that song running round my head now....... cool model by the way Quote
FastCargo Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 Updated FM...much more docile handling now. Also, engine data now updated with J75 specs. Has canopy and refueling probe animations. Completely mapped. Will use F-100 cockpit. FastCargo Quote
DWCAce Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 It's always nice to see the 'oddballs' gettin' modeled. Looks good! Quote
Viggen Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Cool, and scary looking at the same time. I bet ejection would have been interesting Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Maybe a dump question but have you thought about the idea to put the intake under the plane?! something like a F-108 or F-109 Fighting Sabre?! A what if plane?! But nice work so far !!!! Damn you have a nice quality of work! Quote
Shaolin Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Cool, and scary looking at the same time. I bet ejection would have been interesting That's why they called it maneater... Quote
kct Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 And I thought the intakes looked like nostrils to me. Quote
FastCargo Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 I wish I could take all the credit, but Dave gave me the original MAX file that someone (wpnssgt?) had given him after deciding to not work on it any further. I merely continued to refine the design, add some stuff, animations, and mapping. However, it does fit into my SWOTUSAF plans quite nicely... And SWOTUSAF doesn't have fantasy aircraft per se...each one had to have at least reached 'mockup' stage first... Which means the F-108 and F-109 designations are already taken... FastCargo PS Oh, some fun testing in Vietnam during a random gen single mission. What if the F-107 had been picked to be built instead of the F-105 (they were in fact in competition at the time)? While on a strike... Some blokes from the RN decide to escort us and run up against a bunch of MiG-17PFMs...they score 3 head on kills in 10 seconds! Them some damn good missiles! You can see us way in the background as the RN chews up the MiGs... Now imagine us in SEA colors... FastCargo Quote
+X RAY Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 FastCargo Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!YF-107!!Finally the ULTRASABRE!!!!!!!!! Quote

+Julhelm Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Is that my old model or did someone else start one too? Quote
FastCargo Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 Haven't a clue...as I said, I got the model from Dave who said it's previous owner had stopped working on it and didn't care what he did with it. FastCargo Quote
Longestpants Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I remember building a model kit of this baby once. I don't like to talk about it. Very nice work as usual, FastCargo. I'll look forward to this one. Quote
zmatt Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) Hyper Hogs rule! Later this month I'm going to get to see the #2 bird again when we visit Wright Pat. I'm looking forward to it. It's such a cool plane. What kind of A2A capability did it have? Edited January 10, 2009 by zmatt Quote
