+guyran Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Excellent job Monty, just the S-199 is called Sakeen ("Knife" in Hebrew = "Messer" in German). Quote
Muesli Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Some more pics. Looks like the first 199 has wraparound camo with white/grey undersides. Nice! Quote
+Soulfreak Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) Damn Monty, really outstanding! Edited May 20, 2010 by Soulfreak Quote
+Monty CZ Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks for all the pictures does anybody know something else about the plane on guyran 1st. picture? There is no fuselage number, strange unit marking ...looks like later painting similar to spitfires camo. I used this page as a refference For the last 2 days is my work stagnating - with 1st expansion pack I preffer to fly than to write some inis :-) MontyCZ Quote
+Soulfreak Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 For the last 2 days is my work stagnating - with 1st expansion pack I preffer to fly than to write some inis :-) MontyCZ Monty, that is totally normal! BTW, i don´t know if you already know this: http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/f/340/89/0 Quote
+guyran Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks for all the pictures does anybody know something else about the plane on guyran 1st. picture? MontyCZ There were many paint schemes for the 'Sakeen' over the years, including the black spit. Both my pics are taken from the 'Heil Ha'avir' museum in Hatzerim. While the second colorful pic is taken from the current exhibition, the first black&white pic I think is a genuine pic from the era. Quote
Wrench Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) I just went with RLM 64 (iirc) overall for the 'stand in version I did some years back. Like another modder posted the other day "the more research you do, the more contradictions you find". No matter what color it comes out in, it'll ALLL be good!! wrench kevin stein Edited May 20, 2010 by Wrench Quote

+Monty CZ Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Thanks allenjb42. Next theme Bump maps: I have slow comp and Win XP so I cannot check game i full details and I dont see any result of bump mapping on planes. I have this is it the correct format for bump maps? do I need higher contrast to be set? thanx for the answers MontyCZ Quote
+Julhelm Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 You can preview the maps in xNormals modelviewer. Quote
+Stary Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 is it the correct format for bump maps? do I need higher contrast to be set? thanx for the answers MontyCZ MontyCZ keep them subtle for better effect Quote
+Julhelm Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Like I said he can load the model as an .obj in xNormal and see it with normalmapping in a realtime engine and check for himself. If you can't see them you can't tweak them. Quote
+Monty CZ Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Thanx I thought, that I can se it only on simple plane and it looks good enough. I will test it. I tried to export original P-51s bumpmap textures to compare them but that compress tool for new cats is not user friendly enough :-) MontyCZ Quote
+elephant Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) I Don't want to flame... but the windshield and canopy seems a bit off...or it's just my impression? Edited May 21, 2010 by elephant Quote
+Monty CZ Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Can you specify it more pls? I tried my best with 8000 polys :-) but I want it correct as much as possible MontyCZ I Don't want to flame... but the windshield and canopy seems a bit off...or it's just my impression? Quote
+Monty CZ Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 dont know how to change aspect ratioMontyCZ Quote
+elephant Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Comparing the above pics I find many tiny differences among them the supercharger filter. And I disagree with you Dave, sorry... Here what I mean about the windshield and canopy in this photoshop edit: Notice also that the protective backplate should be angled. Edited May 21, 2010 by elephant Quote
+guyran Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 From the video clip I understand from where did the S-199 get his nickname Mezek (mule) Quote
+Dave Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Ah Ok I see it now Elephant. It is very minor though. Quote
+JimBeamer5 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I'll just add my thanks and kudo's to a great looking bird. Well done! And yes, perfect for a War of Independence Campaign, count me in if there's a Team being formed. Quote
