Actually I made that particular sharkmouth. It's from the VF-21 skin, which was my 2nd ever mod.

I know there are some guys around who like What ifs .. So I have mixed some planes together and the result needs a finish... I like it

I call it Su-23, maybe if the time and Soulfreak allows, there could be a twoseater also.

Why Don't You Just Die?

Recent DACT with a Mirage 2000, shot him with a second 'winder and he took quite a while in dying

If the TSR2 had been bought by the US what designation would it have got? F-112?

If it hit service first (I think it might have just beaten the Pig in), it may have been the F-111 first.

Unlikely as, despite taking to the air slightly later, the real F-111 was soon running ahead of Her Majesty's needle-nosed wonder bird and, in anycase, if adopted it would have started with an 'A' or a 'B'.

Spinners - I was thinking about the naming issue for the next Update to the TSR2 we're doing (as you said the US doesn't call things GR...) and while we're tweaking the jets it'd be an ideal time for a name change but I couldn't come-up with anything (I didn't like the triple number sound of A-112 for a name for example).

I was using this as a guide - http://www.driko.org/usdes_a.html but nothing really "Jumped out" at me and the only "unused" designation is the A-11 "Astra" but because of the A-10 it looks like it's in the wrong time-frame even though the number was reserved before the A-10. Any thoughts?

Sounds too much like the AV-8 (the A-8 was the original designation), maybe back to the AB ones so something like the AB-3 Vengeance, anyway have some WIP USN GR3 goodness, now with added Laser Pod!

I was thinking that maybe the F-111 had too many development problems and never panned out beyond prototype stage so when the RAF cancelled F-111K the USAF cancelled theirs too and went for (a jointly developed?) TSR 2 Thunderstrike instead.

Hence we get the USAF/USN/USMC versions too.

As F-111 was already being used (and the Aardvark was a strike aircraft/bomber despite the F- designation) would they have stuck to the sequence and used F-112?

BTW - Ian, as part of your update do you think you could do a nation specific Iranian version with these skins and the Iranian weapons you were working on? Sundowner did the skins and they would look great in a what-if Operation Darius mod.

AllenJB42 - It'd have to be a separate package so I'll have a chat to Sundowner to see if he's happy with that (and if the Iranian skins will fit the newer model). The weapons and A/C ini's are no problem, just need to finish a few of the missiles off (all are still pure brilliant white!).

Spinners - cheers for the info (can't see the pics at work), Sundowner will have the last word as it's his package but it's definately interesting (and an easy .ini change to your own tastes).
