KJakker Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) What if an uncompleted Essex class carrier was finished? Construction of Reprisal was canceled on August 12, 1945 when 52.3 percent complete. Launched in 1945 without ceremony to clear the slipway, her hull was utilized in experimental work in the Chesapeake Bay from 1946–48 (mostly to do with bomb damage in magazines). Although inspected during January 1949 with a view to completing her as an attack carrier, the plan was dropped and her hulk was sold on August 2, 1949 to Boston Metals Co., Baltimore, Md. She was scrapped starting in November 1949. (Source: DANFS, Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, located on the Naval Historical Center website. Special thanks to Ron Reeves, who provided additional information.) Aerial view of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, BuAer photo # 290081, received 2 December 1944. There are five aircraft carriers in sight (refer to NS023501a): (1) Reprisal (CV-35) under construction in Dry Dock #6; (2) Coral Sea, later Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVB-42) under construction in Dry Dock #5; (3) Kearsarge (CV-33) under construction; (4) Oriskany (CV-34) under construction; and (5) USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31), commissioned 26 November 1944. ValAstur Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Hey folks! I'm still messing around, but my son demands a lot of time and effort (and sometimes nerves ) Nevertheless I have something here: A not so improbable new croatian Knight: F-16C Falcon, Croatian Air Force, 2016 I'm aware that the aircraft offered to Croatia were israeli F-16A/B ACE Falcons, as told here: https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/israel-details-f-16-ace-bid-for-croatia-413918/ A Moose-"Hunter" over the Laplands Hawker Hunter FGA.9, HävLlv. 31, 1966 5 Quote
