+GrinchWSLG Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 sadly "No" is the answer in most cases, one has to have source max file of existing model, as specular map is defined as separate material in Max I was referring to our current mod aircraft, not really TK's. Quote
+hgbn Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Uhh we already using this feature in KAW Quote
+Stary Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I was referring to our current mod aircraft, not really TK's. oh I misunderstood your post, yes we can, as hgbn added KAW planes use it together with great normalmaps Quote
+hgbn Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Whats the status with that ? *drools* WIP all I can say for now Quote

+GrinchWSLG Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 (edited) Unfortunately, specular maps in SF2 are called out in the .lod file, the same way textures and bump maps are. So unless one has the source file (or the .lod already has call-outs for them), they're out of luck. So my next question I guess is where is the data for the height for the bump and the specular being pulled from? Separate BMPs? DDS? Trying to figure out how to do this and my experimentation hasn't produced any results so far. EDIT: Don't know why but I can't get the right materials to export. The .out never shows them. I have the latest exporter, or I should... Edited November 30, 2011 by GrinchWSLG Quote

+GrinchWSLG Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Yeah, I got it figured out. Somehow I was getting the old plugins despite what the download descriptions said. I grabbed the newest one from TK's site and its working fine now. Quote
squid Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 btw, he hasn't post any carrier related screens yet has he ? ...... Quote
JediMaster Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I think that counts as "terrain". Anyway, I've not seen any naval vessels and as mentioned we've barely seen any water at all, they're mostly shot co-alt or from below the planes. So while I'd like to think we'll see it before the end of the year, the dearth of shots of stuff that will have to be done first makes me believe we won't. Quote
EricJ Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Going with Jedi Master devs release screenshots as they go along so time will tell if things are what we hope for or not. Quote
Gr.Viper Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 You mean, it took TW almost two years to put decals on the Tomcat? Quote
Silverbolt Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 You mean, it took TW almost two years to put decals on the Tomcat? you know one of the hardest parts of modding is putting decals :p Quote
+SkateZilla Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 they built and E-2C and EA-6B and a few russian planes too. Quote
+Stary Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 wouldn't it be time to show something like errr cockpit... you know the plane from inside... or are we supposed to play this in external views? Could be interesting Quote
Fubar512 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) tell JASF to move over, roflmao. Gawd.....I wouldn't compare JASF with even the lightest of the "lite" sims. JASF does have it place, though..... in an upright cabinet where one would feed it one quarter at a time. Edited December 1, 2011 by Fubar512 Quote
+Crusader Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 LOL yep... external view only.. like a FPS Quote
column5 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 LOL yep... external view only.. like a FPS "Light" sims don't need cockpits, anyway. Quote
+Stary Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 new screenshot show some simulation aspects... still no terrain shots though j/k Quote
JediMaster Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Well, it wouldn't surprise me at all actually for this to just pop up with no real warning, including no shots of the terrain or naval vessels beforehand. So, I don't EXPECT it this month, but I wouldn't be shocked to see it. Quote
