+DWCAce Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 You live under a rock? Pretty much. While growing up I read mostly history and non-fiction (much to the dismay of my teachers). Almost everyday in 5th grade I had 'The Great Book of Modern Warplanes' in my backpack, which weighed more than all of my other books combined...and I walked to school. Quote

Ahh.. been there. - Tell the class what book you've read this summer. -Oh, it was a book about shipwreck salvage involving diving operations, welding, pumping and the history of submersibles... A translation of this one, BTW. Awesome read. Almost everyday in 5th grade I had 'The Great Book of Modern Warplanes' in my backpack, which weighed more than all of my other books combined...and I walked to school. When I was younger me too... But yeah it is a good read though. Sure it's not terribly accurate in most cases but the fun stuff starts at Chapter 17. The AWACs strike scenario is something I suggested for Operation Darius but since there weren't any AWACs anyways (Iran's only one crashed). But back on topic if carriers are sinkable then it opens up a whole new can of worms. Quote

macelena Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 RSR is a must read, indeed About SF2NA, i guess that the game will continue the series of events portrayed in SF2E, my guess is coming all the way, from crusaders-phantoms-tomcats, for USN fighters, the same way SF2E did for the USAF (Hun, Phantom, Eagle) along with some other aircraft (Corsairs for Warthogs). However, i wouldn´t expect much participation by non US forces, maybe some RAF in Scotland (should Scotland appear in the map) given the lack of carriers and so. Besides that, i would like that the game included some late USN Phantoms, at least the F-4N (i don´t see the S coming). About the impact on other releases, it would be great for a campaign about the USN in the Lebanon War. I wonder if an E-2C skin for the IDFAF would do fine. Also, the North Atlantic will provide finally a good scenario for DLCs such as the F-4K and F-8E(FN).BTW, I doubt the Mirage F1 is really to be much at home in this scenario, should it be released as a DLC or an Expansion. However, for SF2E and others, Mirage F1 completes the French AF for all the time frame, as anyone else (US, UK or Germany) are getting Phantoms while the Armee de´l air remains with the Mirage IIIC much after it becomes obsolescent. To summarise, my guess is that it will be SF2E for the USN. Aside from any "code" improvement or anything like that, i guess it will be as great as any other in the series. Quote
+JediMaster Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) I have 2 versions of that "Great Book of Modern Warplanes." The later one with revised stuff I've read far less than the original. I still laugh when I look at the "unknown" MiGs in there. I love the one that looks like it's halfway between a Fulcrum and a Foxhound, but I forget whether they called it a 29 or a 31. I've been bringing a book to school, and then work, since 6th grade. In the intervening decades I've read hundreds of books, if not more. Well, as I reread ones I like, perhaps not more UNIQUE books, but if you count the number of times I've reread Lord of the Rings, that Warplanes book, Red Storm Rising and Hunt for Red October, my Gulf Air War Debrief, 2001, Foundation Trilogy, etc, it probably totals well up there. Teras Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 i hope for a really nice eye candy graphics... Quote
+Stary Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) I care more for gameplay mechanics (multi-weapons ships, helicopters, targetable ASMs) terain engine and pure visuals improvements than pure new planes content, I'm sure those in powers here (DAVE and bunch) will start sort of "SF2NA: Enhanced OOB" mod with extra units etc days after release. Can we program new avionics and engine and such? No, so let's hope TK focuses on those, the new planeset as per WIP shots already looks impressive to me BTW given the "no cash bugdet title" standard answer Edited January 6, 2012 by Stary Quote
+Dave Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Yes are going to do an enhanced version. I'm with Stary though eye candy is great but the sim mechanics is what I'm looking for. Quote
Teras Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) lets be explicit , TK aint going to change his plan from sim-lite to sim-real! i hope he do but he ain't Edited January 6, 2012 by Teras Quote
+Stary Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 lets be explicit , TK aint going to change his plan from sim-lite to sim-real! i hope he do but he ain't Teras, I wan't it to be still the sim-lite formula similar to as it is, just some more gameplay mehanics added to it, some new avionics modes (It's F-14 after all) and such plus of course the eye-candy that is there judging by screens Quote
+Brain32 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Yup I agree, no time for switchology here either, just a bit more bling... BTW how long has it been since the last update? Last one was like...last year... Quote
