“And so he passed over, and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side….”

27 May 1999, Kargil Operations - Operation Safed Sagar.

News came that Flt Lt K Nachiketa, a MiG-27M pilot of 9 Sqn had ejected over the target area following an engine flame out.

Sqn Ldr Ajay Ahuja and Fg Offr P G Reddy  of No. 17 Sqdn "Golden Arrows" flying MiG-21Ms in dedicated Fighter reconnaissance role during the war, had to go for a Reconnaissance mission in the same area.

At the line up, they were informed of the circumstances and they immediately got airborne to assist the formation leader of Flt Lt K Nachiketa in locating his ill-fated aircraft. After orbiting for some time over the target area, Reddy had to head home due to low fuel while Ahuja in his MiG-21M, serial no. C1539, continued alone. Inspite of being fully aware of presence of SAMs in the area, he stayed to help rescue attempts to locate a downed pilot.

Some time later, Ahuja's MiG-21 was hit by a SAM. Ahuja gave a radio call – "Hercules, something has hit my plane, possibility of missile hit cannot be ruled out, I am ejecting over...(location)."

Though the officer ejected safely, but, as was confirmed by the post-mortem report, he was murdered in cold blood on the ground. He had died of gunshot wounds in the neck and through the heart fired from point blank range. As per reports from Army Observation Posts, after landing with his parachute, he had been surrounded  and had been shot in cold blood.

One of the things I will like in SF2, is a better mission editor, so we can replicate all those really interesting missions and situations, searching for a downed airplane, attacking ground target near to civilians...

The cockpit is nice, but would it be possible to add slightly more poly to make it smoother ?

Sorry, it is a kind of obsession : take old but accurate cockpits (like TMF) and smoothen them a little bit to rise them up to modern standards
