  1. Hi yakarov79, you have got mail. one more: cheers sokol
  2. hi the idea was: as long as we do not have working chutes - and we will never get them for default-aircraft - , a simple lod-file of a chute will / must do as eye-candy. this model/lod-file should be freely available to everyone. sokol
  3. Hi soviet aircraft used their chutes on almost every landing, tk does not provide this feature. as long as there is no decent way to provide a default MiG or Sukhoi with a working chute - as did some folks with TMF-aircraft (thanks Russo for your MiG-29 !!!;-) - I played with eyecandy, using a YAP-model. as this is restricted by copyright: can anybody produce a freeware model for a chute ? maybe a cruciform one ? with it's texture in tga-format for more versatility ? a teaser: cheers sokol
  4. very very impressive as of today i use different faux-/stand-in-aircraft for ths period - sino-japanese-war - , but your models beat sure evrything around ;-) hope to fly rthem soon in sf2 sokol
  5. perfectly true, an outstanding aircraft. making it a2g capable has a lot to do with changing requirements in a changing world: after the demise of the USSR and it's fighters there was a lot more emphasis on bombing the various "bad" guys around (afghani, iraqui, yugoslavian ... you name them). btw: the LWF owed a lot to the soviets: the concept itself is a remake of the MiG-21 and it's virtues, and the shape of the YF-16 ressembles one of the MiG-derivatives, the Ye-8, esp. in side-view. cheers sokol
  6. Hi Cliff, thanks for your remark ;-). AFAIK wingmen's movements have been a feature in SF1-series. Which is impressive and imersive, since even highly qualified aerobatic teams show this behaviour - none of their planes flies rock steady. less so an ordinary pilot. any idea ? cheers sokol
  7. hi, one of the best features of the sf-series is the up-and-down-movement of wingmen in formations. however in some of my ww2-installations wingmen fly rock steady, no waltzing or rolling or anything else. pretty unrealistic. which statements / which file do control this behaviour ? thanks for your answers cheers sokol
  8. option 1 and skinpack imho there are way too many sub-variants of way too many aircraft, which only differ in very minor country specific items and make no difference in game play at all, so i prefer fewer aircraft to choose from. just my 5 cents ;-) cheers sokol
  9. marauder japanese flying boat P-47
  10. hi may I add to the laudatio: wip, CV-14 hit by kamikaze
  11. hi, my 5 cents regarding CUP / Il-2: installation was pretty easy without any problem: got a fresh install of 4.1.12m, updated with SAS modact 5.3 unzipped the CUP modules into the main il2-folder as per instruction in the following order maps - needed for all modules dof - dawn of flight / ww1 waw - world at war / ww2 jtw - jets at war add any additional mod via jsgme as you like you may choose to unzipp any combination of dof, waw, or jtw, as you like. i took them all. played without any problem, no crash or hangup, runs as smooth as always (in fact much smoother than any sf2-module) on my 7+ years old rig. i did not yet bother with fixes, i'll wait a couple of days for the next stable torrent. the combination Il-2 / CUP seems unbeatable to me as for ww2 aircraft. i appreciate any sf2-extension including rising sun etc. and played them often, but still: il-2 seems way superior in handling, editor, flight models, looks, imersion, available objects, maps etc.. when it comes to jets, sf2 is much more versatile, all the goodies throw in their weight ;-), so it is my choice for post 1945 airwar (but some of the CUP-jets look really good). cheers sokol
  12. hi i have to apologize, esp. to logan4. i took a closer look at my list at TW, and sure the jul2013 version was there, too. installed fine and runs ok. cheers sokol
  13. hi everybody, thx to your explainations. @logan4: Unfortunately when i enter TW-site I am only offered the 2009-version amongst the many items I purchased, so no luck. thx sokol
  14. thx for the explanation. which, then, is the latest patch available for XP ? is there a superpatch which includes all the previous ones ? or to I have tos update step by step by step ? cheers sokol
  15. encouraging ! keep on your work btw, this seems to be verified by experiences in vietnam: B-52-strikes at Hanoi were heavily escorted by fighters, wild weasels, ecm-aircraft. nevertheless at least 2 vietnamese Migs managed to get close to the bombers, and there is little doubt that Phamtuan actually shot own one fortress. his attack was a masterpiece, and his escape was hairy. cheers sokol
  16. hi, recently I tried to re-install sf2 and sf2-NA on my old windows XP-machine (do not ask for the reason ;-). so I downloaded all my purchased stuff at Thirdwires, and installed sf2 native 2009-version without problems. trying to install NA on top I ran into problems: - NA requires the jul 2013 patch - ok, downloaded, tried to install, no luck, since: it requires - mar2012 patch - ok, downloaded, tried to install ... - may2011 patch - ok, downloaded, .... - jun2010 patch - ok, ... this is where i stopped. is this really, REALLY the only way to update to sf2 NA ? I cannot believe this, there must be a shortcut. any idea ? anyone ? thx sokol
  17. thank you very welcome ;-)
  18. Hi is there a decent water splash around ? i think this is absolutely necessary, since the current tiny splash is ... well, tiny. i am looking for some thunderous white splashes like in real life, when bombs or shells arise huge columns of water. anyone ? anywhere ? cheers sokol
  19. something from the east good flight sokol
