  1. Normally, I'm not a reality hound...but that nose is simply too large. You don't have an aircraft that is even plausible at this point as an airbreather. Asthetics count, but the aircraft should at least look like it could really exist... FC
  2. In other words you made a rocket plane. Because that's the only way your engine is going to get any oxygen! FC
  3. Well, I figured that! I would hope it's pretty good! Haven't had any of Rudy's BBQ....done the Bill Miller thing. Liked Tom's Ribs...was bummed when they shut down. FC
  4. Isn't Rudy's tagline 'The Worst BBQ in TX'? Yep, they got a 5B burgers coming near us at the 281/1604 interchange...looking forward to checking it out! FC
  5. I don't...I'm in Marina Del Rey this weekend... FC
  6. Yea man...my Captain who I was paired with last week made 2000 dollars from 50 bucks at Reno because he bet on the underdogs...who'd have thunk it! FC
  7. FastCargo

That looks pretty decent on the surface of it. FC
  8. Except it only works in the pitch up direction, not pitch down. FC
  9. Actually, that's Deborah Gibson...and she's kind of hot now... Wired Magazine had a very interesting article on The Asylum, their business model is different to say the least... FC
  10. Most of the sounds are actual sounds, but are usually from a database of sounds for other things. Usually, they've been tweaked for applications (I'm not sure exactly if TK has done it this way, but I've seen this for other things). The problem is that typical amateur recordings of actual aircraft engines tend to turn out bad because the microphone recording them doesn't have the range for the volume and frequencies. And even if you have the proper sound file, a lot of speakers won't be able to reproduce the frequency for the same reason...combination of volume and frequencies. I honestly haven't found a sound mod yet that quite reproduces that deep bass effect your are looking for. There may be others who can recommend something for you. FC
  11. It's his right to say what he wants about soldiers. But it's also people's rights to say what they want about him. And if it drives him out of business because of bad publicity? Free speech means you can say what you want without government intervention...doesn't say you can avoid consequences from the private sector. Never pass up an opportunity to shut the hell up. FC
  12. This shouldn't surprise anyone really. We become emotional about fictional characters in a novel, a play, in movies. It's only logical that this would happen in a sim...even more so because our virtual lives have been directly affected by their presence vs by proxy in a story. FC
  13. You proceed under a false assumption. That everything must be either classified or totally open and said to everyone everywhere. That's not the way intel works. There are many things I could tell you about various operations that are not classified at all. However, that doesn't mean I should tell you, for the simple reason that although my information may not be useful by itself, my info combined with other information could be used to 'build a picture' for threat forces to use. Could threat forces build a picture without my info? Probably, but I'm not going to help either. FC
  14. Also folks, for stuff you consider important, you may want to consider an online service. We use one that's 55 dollars a year for unlimited. You can set it up for all sorts of options (things like timed backup so bandwidth doesn't get used when you're online, certain directories, etc). So in addition to on site backups of critical files, we have offsite...so even if the house burns down, our critical files are not lost. It's pretty cheap insurance...but it does assume you have a high speed (not dialup) connection with no bandwidth limits. FC
  15. Alright, settle down. Storm, I would agree with SaE on this one. Taking pics at a stateside base isn't a big deal (otherwise, it would all be at night or expressly forbidden). However, deployment/redeployment info including routes and schedules might be more sensitive. If af.mil wants to post it openly, let them make that call. No big deal...just folks lookin' out for each other. FC
  16. That herringbone pattern is a bit big on that deck... FC
  17. Or that part of my brain needs to be burned out... FC
  18. Dude, I can't unsee that statement...ever! FC
  19. It's funny, no matter how many times I see that movie, I keep finding something new to laugh at. Listening to the commentary, apparently with this movie, they tried sticking in everything they could think of for laughs...basically using the shotgun effect. "I say, let 'em crash!" FC
  20. Okay, THAT is disturbing! FC
  21. Totally different aircraft. FC
  22. Roger, Roger. Got that vector, Victor? How about the clearance, Clarence? Thanks for the secrets and the laughs. FC
  23. They would have to restart the line for An-124s. The restart cost is so high that any An-124s you get would be more expensive than buying more C-17s. That's why several other countries have bought C-17s for their heavy airlift needs. There isn't a single military type (drive on/drive off, high wing, short field capable) transport in production that has the overall capability (combination of range, payload, short field performance) that the C-17 has. FC
  24. If an engine catches fire, you have to shut it off. Once you do that, that engine is done. You cannot restart it...either in the sim or in real life. Or I should say, you can restart it...but it's not a good idea. Think about it this way...if your car engine caught fire and the fire went out, would you restart it?? FC
