I'm glad it's working! Thanks for uploading the updated campaign files, I'll put them to use. Always good to have an extra campaign for a terrain. Slainthe! -
Help with ICELAND02 Campaign
Baltika replied to madvad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Try replacing the [Frontline] position entries in the campaign DATA.INI file with these: Position[001]=100000,000 Position[002]=486000,564000 Position[003]=515000,570000 Position[004]=558000,565000 Position[005]=594000,570000 Position[006]=630000,540000 Position[007]=655000,500000 Position[008]=670000,501000 Position[009]=720000,510000 Position[010]=760000,496000 Position[011]=820000,510000 Position[012]=864000,554000 Position[013]=938000,562000 Position[014]=992000,617000 Position[015]=1003000,657000 Position[016]=1022000,708000 Position[017]=1018000,740000 Position[018]=970000,750000 Position[019]=960000,784000 Position[020]=1010000,810000 Position[021]=1042000,833000 Position[022]=1068000,828000 Position[023]=1060000,850000 Position[024]=1024000,866000 Position[025]=1030000,912000 Position[026]=995000,938000 Position[027]=938000,965000 Position[028]=877000,1005000 Position[029]=822000,1045000 Position[030]=771000,1007000 Position[031]=707000,953000 Position[032]=655000,971000 Position[033]=618000,934000 Position[034]=558000,980000 Position[035]=502000,1027000 Position[036]=428000,1020000 Position[037]=363000,948000 Position[038]=320000,860000 Position[039]=120000,900000 Position[040]=100000,1500000 I took these from the MOVEMENT.INI file from the Iceland02 terrain folder. That will get you up and running. There is till something bit odd going on with the unit entries. Unfortunately, I don't have time to look into it just now. Try using this as a template campaign for the Iceland02 terrain. You will need to swap out some of the unit types, as some of those old mods I used are no longer available for one reason or another, or have been superseded by updated versions. Help with ICELAND02 Campaign
Baltika replied to madvad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hi madvad, Have you changed the [Frontline] settings in the campaign DATA.INI file to match the Iceland02 map? Those are right at the end of the DATA.INI file. If you just used the same frontline settings from the stock Thirdwire Iceland map, then the campaign engine won't work properly on the Iceland02 map. That's one explanation for the immediate loss you are seeing. The frontline for a campaign has to be plotted using map co-ordinates for your campaign terrain, so that it runs from one side of the map to the other. All of the friendly strategic nodes have to be on one side of the frontline, and all of the enemy strategic nodes have to be on the other side. As ground units capture strategic nodes, the campaign engine will move the frontline dynamically. You may need to play around with the number and position of plotted points on your frontline to get the campaign engine to work properly. I hope that helps. Anyway, I'm glad to see you are enjoying my little Iceland terrain! That takes me back a few years.... Slainthe! -
Full-Scale Iceland Terrain
Baltika posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File Full-Scale Iceland Terrain *********************************** Iceland 02 Full-Scale Terrain v2.0 by Baltika *********************************** This is a major upgrade to my little Iceland terrain. New features:- Forest tiles and trees - yup, there are now some forests on Iceland, just as in reality. Extensive targetisation upgrade, with many newly targetised areas. Several new terrain tile types. Network of NATO radar stations, with accurate operational dates. Re-tiling of some coastal areas to fix tsunamis. Some terrain HFD work for greater accuracy. Custom environment file to create snowstorm conditions for inclement weather. Cheers to Stary for that one ;-) No substitute for SF2:NA, I know, but Merry Christmas everybody ;-) This will likely be the final version of this terrain. But, if anybody spots any show-stopping bugs, please drop me a line at Combatace and I'll try to sort them out. Slainthe! Baltika 21 December 2011 *********************************** Thanks to:- Gepard for his terrain tutorials, which started this adventure off all those years ago. Also for his WoE European style runways which are included here. JSFAggie for his Highway runway Mod, which has been altered and modded for use as glacier-based FARPs. Brain32 for sound advice on creating terrain tiles. Cheers mate;-) Your hi-res lava tile has not been used here, but may see the light of day if I ever manage a hi-res set for this little terrain. CA_Stary for being terrain guru extraordinaire. Also, thanks to Stary for his Heavy Snowfall mod for WoX series. I have included this for Iceland terrain and updated it for SF2 shaders, so you will get near-whiteout blizzard conditions for inclement weather setting. Happy flying ;-) Thanks also to Brain32 and CA_Stary for their forest tiles and trees, which I have adapted for use as Iceland's sparse forests. Cheers guys ;-) GrimViper, for pointing out that Iceland does actually have trees and forests. . . Cheers mate, hope you like it ;-) Wrench, Dave & all the gang at CA for invaluable advice on how to make things work, garnered over the years and hopefully put to good effect here. MajorLee, Deuces, Edward and anyone else who made a terrain mod and posted about how to do it. Thanks! TK for making the whole bag of bolts hang together. *********************************** Installation instructions:- Delete your old "ICELAND02" folder. This version is a complete replacement for any previous version. Unzip the package to your desktop, or wherever is convenient. Drop the "ICELAND02" folder into your Username\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\Terrains folder. If there is no terrains folder in your mod folder, create one and drop the ICELAND02 folder into it. Drop the "Effects" folder into your Username\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\ folder. That's it! Go fly, and fight for the liberation of Iceland. This terrain has been completed using SF2 November 2011 patch. It is not supported on WoX series or earlier patch levels. But, if you really must try, use the files included in the "Use_in_WoX" folder for SF1 series. Your mileage may vary. If you use a custom environmental mod, bear in mind that any changes must be made to the ICELAND02_ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI file included here. Just make sure your new file includes the following line:- InclementEffect=BlizzardEffect Or else, you will lose the snowfall weather conditions. It is set up this way so as not to interfere with any other environmental mod you may use. *********************************** Submitter Baltika Submitted 12/21/2011 Category Full Terrains -
My next terrain project

Incredible work, as always. Many thanks -
Tomahawk by Digital Integration, on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. 48K bytes of RAM, two-tone wireframe graphics, and a Kempston Joystick. It even had a dynamic campaign. Well, kind of. And you had to save your progress on a cassette tape. 1985. Happy Days.

Version 2.0

Kamchatka Peninsula v2.0 by Baltika For Strike Fighters 2 Series This is an upgrade of my original Kamchatka Peninsula Terrain to bring it up to the latest SF2 standard (September 2011 patch). I was motivated to bring it up to speed to provide a native combat environment for TK's excellent JASDF Phantom F-4EJ, available at the Thirdwire DLC Store. What's new over version 1.0: -Fully compatible with SF2 -Winter and Summer tilesets -Fully operational in Thirdwire Mission Editor (Cheers Crusader!) This terrain includes a base tileset by Deuces, together with Stary's forests and farms mod adapted for use on this terrain. I have also created a large number of additional transition tiles based on Deuce's tiles, which may be of interest to terrain builders. This version 2.0 release also includes a full winter tileset, which is based on Major Lee's DBS terrain tileset. Thanks also to Wrench for creating the water effect .TGA tiles used here which bring the water to life. The tile naming format is compatible with the stock GermanyCE tileset for ease of expansion, but be aware that the excellent hi-res and seasoned tilesets by Brain32 and Stary in particular will not have all the necessary transition tiles, so use them with caution. Should you wish to use the included transitioned tileset for your own terrain mods, copy all the terrain .bmp files and .tga files into the "Tileset" folder and convert the .tga tiles to .bmp format. See Gepard's excellent terrain tutorials in the KB at CA for more info. All mission types are activated, for both red and blue side flyable. The Americans have their existing bases on the Aleutian Islands. I have handed the northern Kuril Islands to the Japanese for the sake of this scenario. Take it as read that the Soviets were sufficiently distracted by the ground war in central Europe that they lost their hold on the Kurils to Japan. Now, the Soviets are engaged in a fierce battle for control of the strategically important Kamchatka Peninsula. This is a target-rich, fictionalised version of the RUssian Far East. There are many installations and industrial zones in the Kamchatkai Krai that you will not find in real life. Equally, as much real-life stuff as I could discover went into the mix. Also, this is a showcase of a fully-transitioned tileset, so there is much more agriculture than you would get at these latitudes. Just kick back and enjoy the scenery. Finally, there is a monstrous presence lurking at the heart of the Peninsula who has risen from aeons of deathless sleep to trouble the affairs of men once more. Bragging rights to the first person to take a recon photo of this horror and make it back to base alive, and with their sanity intact ;-) INSTALLATION:- Simply unzip and drop the "KAMCHATKA" folder into your User\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\Terrains folder. It is highly recommended that you install the files listed below or you will not get the full intended Kamchatka Krai experience. The original readme file is included. Thanks grumpapotamus ;-) WW2 Subpens from WW2 Europe Terrain by Edward et al, modded for Soviet use. Thanks to the original creator. As ever, feedback, comments, bug-reports and general griping are most welcome. Slainthe! Baltika September 2011 -
Wrench Note: I retitled and am going to sticky this thread, so we can have a Works In Progress Thread of our very own! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to Dave & Eric for setting up a little home from home for us propheads. To celebrate, I thought I would make a WIP list of my current stuff so everyone knows what to expect from the Baltika production line. These are listed in no particular order, and just don't ask me when they'll be done, OK Terrain WIPs: -Kursk -WW2 Malaysia (covering Malay Peninsula, Singapore, Java, Borneo, Celebes, Flores, Timor, Siam, French Indo-China, and the Philippines) -Full-scale Philippines and Formosa (completely new build) -Full-scale Burma/Indian Frontier (again a new build, this is a long ways off, and is really only necessary because Edward's existing map doesn't cover the Indian frontier properly for mid-war campaigns covering the last-ditch British defence of India) Campaign WIPs: North Africa 1940-42 (nearly done) Operation Zitadel - Kursk '43 Battle of the Mareth Line Secret Weapons Over California Burning Sands 1940 The Battle for Guadalcanal - Operation Watchtower 1942 Channel Front 1940-1944 I will also continue to update the old Battle of Britain campaign - there is a new version very close to release right now. I also have a notion to make a "BoB2 - Secret Weapons Over Blighty" campaign to use a WW2 version of my British Isles map, featuring a full-scale Nazi invasion of the UK, but that is really just a gleam in my eye right now. Suggestions, requests, ideas, are all welcome. Also any feedback on my previously released campaigns would be gratefully received, as I don't have time to thoroughly playtest them from every possible perspective. Tally-Ho! Baltika
