  1. TWA 517, do you want to report a UFO? Over. Negative. We don't want to report.
  2. He's not a miscreant. He's just a plain old creant.
  3. Yeah, great bit. Don't know if anyone recognized him, but he usually plays a bad guy in other films of the 80s/early 90s, including the original Beverly Hills Cop. "Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it." "Buddy couldn't handle it? Was Buddy one of your crew?" "Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces." "Andy went to pieces?" "No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued." "Howie came unglued?" "Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued." "And he bailed out?" "No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle." "Then Howie survived?" "No, 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day."
  4. Heck if I can remember, but it seems to be all of them from what I remember (I don't fly either very much anymore). Although these planes were renowned for their ground attack abilities, I find I couldn't use them for that because of the snap-roll to inversion (never 90 degrees or 270 degrees, ALWAYS 180) when I pulled back on the stick. I'd be in a say 20-30 degree dive, pull on the stick, and before I was level it would roll over inverted so I was still pointing at the ground and I would then hit before I could roll over 180 again and pull back. :( I also noticed then if I tried to turn at altitude, but there it was rarely fatal. The funny thing is I never noticed this tendency in any of the other planes unless I REALLY yanked the stick back. It's like you can make a Hellcat do it if you try to pull say 6g's, but the P-47/Fw190 did it to me when pulling like 2-3!
  5. C'mon, FC, let them know how you REALLY feel.
  6. Wraith, eh? No Charlie Sheen pilot model??
  7. I can't think of "Spectre" without thinking "Blofeld."
  8. I just got it myself on Friday but I've not had a chance to try it out as I've been busy flying instead! However, I plan on giving it a thorough shakedown this week.
  9. LOMAC is for people who want to fly the planes included in that game, not others. Best sim of an Su-25 ever, plus the A-10 and MiG-29 and Su-27. The F-15 is ok. Falcon is for people who want the best F-16 sim ever. WoX is for people who want to fly EVERYTHING and get to blow it up, unlike MSFS where you can fly but not fight.
  10. IIRC, one of the things the USN loves about the Super Bug vs the old Hornet is the bring back payload. The legacy bird had such a low payload bring back margin that yes, they generally had to dump any unused bombs before landing. The Super Bug can bring them back to use another day.
  11. Hurt was from "The Downward Spiral," an album that came out over 10 yrs ago now. It's not unusual for a cover of a song to be more popular than the original, though. Just look at Whitney Houston's cover of that Dolly Parton song for "The Bodyguard." I didn't think they'd ever stop playing it!!
  12. He's my favorite Mawg.
  13. Yet somehow the next 2 in the series were 10x worse. As soon as you have people standing up in cockpit to fire a rocket out the back, you've REALLY jumped the shark.
  14. I don't know about that, but I do take issue with the back-flipping the 190s and P-47s do in Il-2. Doesn't matter how gently you pull back on the stick, they do it once the angle of attack exceeds far too small a value. You can watch combat footage of them strafing and pulling out, but don't try it in Il-2 or you'll wind up inverted and hitting dirt.
  15. Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked, in the head, with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. It's a dumb question, Ted. Skip it.
  16. How many Su-25Ts were there? Less than a dozen, and they're out of production. The Ka-50 is upcoming, so the logic there matches the wave of F-22 sims we saw in the late 90s. I love helos but have had nothing but EECH to fly in the 21st century. I remember Rick Hawley had started on an AH-64 sim a few years back, but that just disappeared.
  17. I fondly remember the infantry charges in RB.
  18. Another thing to consider is the speed with which you initiate the turn. Pull it back too abruptly and the rapid onset creates a huge amount of drag. A more measured pull back will keep the speed from bleeding off as fast.
  19. Well, Russia has had serious funding trouble and India hasn't been making very fast progress with their plane developments. How many years now? Maybe, just maybe, the two working together will be the impetus to get one made in a timely fashion.
  20. Sighting a fan of John Tesh is one of the signs of the apocalypse.
  21. It's not really an option here, but in Il-2 I perfected the "meat grinder" method of chopping off a tail with my prop.
  22. Looks like I picked the wrong thread to quit taking amphetamines!
  23. The F-14's wing sweep IS automatic and in only 3 positions...I don't get it.
  24. Yeah, I also noted the demo was pretty short. The amazing thing to me was it didn't look anything like the previous CoD games...yet you could instantly tell it was CoD when you played it!
