  1. It should work just fine. I was using a gameport yoke with CH USB throttles and pedals with no problems. You will need the Control Manager software to configure the pedals.
  2. Nice summary. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in on your experiences.
  3. Yes, Control Manager will definitely be need to do this.
  4. I'll look when I get home but I think the theory that you can map the pedal rotation axis to a key is correct.
  5. 13 years!! 13 years!! This guy is a baby. I've flown them all and have ambitions of becoming a pilot. I've also flown real airplanes and could give a mouse's behind about decimal point accuracy. I have FS2004 if I want to do a little flight training. For the rest I just don't have time to spend pointing and clicking every switch in the cockpit. The bottom line is when I fly a Phantom in WOV it performs pretty much the way the pilots say it would. That's good enough for me. The sims look good on my paltry (for these days) rig. Whatever. No one forces anyone to purchase the sim. I also barely have time to post on THIS website much less too many others. If you have that much time to worry about a flight sim you need to take a serious look at your priorities. Write your own or work on mods or do SOMETHING useful.
  6. My experience is that graphics drivers are a good place to start. Also make sure you have the latest version of directx. It might help to post your system specs.
  7. Ok. I am really sorry if I missed this somewhere........... Just for giggles after the recent patches I tried putting the WOI and SFP terrains into FE (mainly due to my reading about the Anglo-Turkish war of 1918). They seem to work where I did not think they did pre-patch. Whether I work on a Anglo-Turkish campaign is another issue.
  8. 1.02 also removes the CD check. We've all just faced the fact that LOMAC was not designed to be modded to any degree. No new planes, etc. It's why I eventally lost interest in it and fly my Thirdwire sims exclusively these days. Flaming Cliffs is OK but the DRM just ticks me off. I don't trust it and I've got plenty of other simming to do.
  9. "Dogfights". I knew his name sounded familiar. Stand down, Marine!
  10. avast and spybot are my two primary tools for this sort of thing and I have yet to run into an issue. As a techie the first question I ask is: "Did anything change?"
  11. The other thing that trips payware folks up is that the market DOES NOT CARE A WHIT what it cost you to create the product. If someone complains about the cost it will do you no good to talk about how many hours you put in, etc., etc. You are entering a whole new world when you start charging for the product. You are no longer doing the community a favor. You are asking the community to shell out their hard earned dollars for what is effectively a luxury. Luxuries are the first thing to go when the economy goes south. That is exactly my case. I have very few simming dollars to spend these days and while OFF3 may have cost these guys hours and hours of work I can't afford to care. I am on the fence right now with YAP2. I had to pass on SF2.
  12. Heck, no, man! You need to find a rich Cougar!
  13. Dude........ I feel your pain (sort of...) I live somewhere in the middle but we have offices on both coasts. Guess which one I would rather visit. I had an anti-bummer. New job back in my field of choice.
  14. http://i.gizmodo.com/5134226/flight-simula...er-waterlanding Not sure what sim they used (if it was even a commercial product) but it does bring the thing to life.
  15. My daughter got a lemon I guess. She had one of these and it ended up crapping out after about year. Power it up and it just sits and clicks and never connects. Not sure what happened. I've had very good luck with WD internal drives.
  16. No. No. No. No. A HOVERCRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. WOE. I have more interest in these planes and theaters than any others. That being said, WOV, WOI and FE come in at a very close second. But if I was stuck on a desert island with only one sim to play it would be WOE.
  18. Welcome Home!
  19. "We're not confident the name he's telling us is accurate," Staretz said. Gee, ya think? Kind of scary, though.....
  20. Oh, yes, very sweet! You are talking to the original Mustang junkie here.....
  21. I have not been in the military but I do have an odd relationship with SAC. I am a big Jimmy Stewart fan and one of my favorite movies since childhood is "Strategic Air Command". (The fact that June Allyson is a real cutie doesn't hurt either.....) The "landing in crappy WX with his arm going out" is STILL a compelling piece of film. My folks moved to Omaha in the late 60s while SAC was still in it's prime and that and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom was what put Omaha on the map for most people. I actually had the honor and priviledge of visiting the command center once. The local air museum was associated (and located) at Offutt AFB for many, many years but has since been moved to a beautiful facility about 25 miles south of town. (Seriously, if you ever get on I-80 between Lincoln and Omaha you should take a couple of hours to check it out. It has one of the nicest SR-71 displays in the world and one of the few RAF Vulcan bombers in the US.) I actually helped restore the B-17 on display there. I still attend the annual Offutt Air Show/Open House fairly regularly (maybe every other year these days.) I have always the greatest admiration for the Officers and Enlisted folks (and THEIR FAMILIES) that work in SAC. A gawd-awful thankless job by all accounts but one that was necessary to keep the rest of us safe.
  22. Incredible story. Still catching up on details.
  23. Agreed. OFF1 was ok but I let it go when FE came out. I know these guys work their butts off on this stuff but $50 is $50 and YAP2 will be out soon (I hope). I need to watch my simming dollars these days. I will at least wait for a review.
