  1. HMMMM! Looks good. Soup and salad. Ate too much the last couple of weeks on the road. That's the bad part of travelling. Too much restaurant food.
  2. Absolutely agree. I am very proud to be even remotely associated with a group such as this.
  3. Not exactly lo-vis.......
  4. Yup. I have definitely moved over here from SimHQ for matters Thirdwire. One of the friendliest download sites on the net. Keep up the good work!!
  5. Fun! "Do not TOUCH switches or levers." Always good advice.
  6. Yeah, OK, but think about it. I have years of experience flying aircraft via a monitor screen. I would be a GREAT predator pilot. Good toon.
  7. How much more resource intensive is this going to be? I will still get it but I am a LONG, LONG way from updating my 2.6 Ghz - 2Gb RAM - Gforce 6800GT 256M system. I assume we will have the usual controls for graphics quality, etc. Does look very nice, though....
  8. I think it's legit... I was on a flight once where the flight attendent did a very similar routine plus he asked us all to lower our heads so the pilot could see to back out the plane..... "If you have not used a seat belt since you rode in a 1964 Ford Falcon you will need some instructions on how to use these" or something. It was a riot.
  9. Forever War would be good. I think it's in progress but "Rendevous with Rama" has been on my list for a while. "Ringworld" by Larry Niven comes to mind. It could be a bi*ch to do but Roger Zelazny's "Amber" series would be interesting to see.
  10. I am a wannabe. If I had it to do over again I would have seriously considered commercial aviation. (Eyes would keep me out of military flying.) I ended up going with IT (25+ years) and have done OK but since I was very young I have always had a passion for aircraft. I always looked up when an airplane flew over. I have gotten some stick time in C172s and had the pleasure of doing an hour in a T-6 Texan. I have also crewed for and flown in a hot air balloon. I still have aspirations of getting a private pilots license. But as they say, "If God had meant Man to fly, He would have given him more money."

    Finally!

    Sweet ride..... Thanks for sharing.
  12. Strategic Air Command - I've always been a huge Jimmy Stewart fan and June Allyson was a cutie. I now live in Omaha so it's very real. Spirit of St. Louis - Not a big fan of Lindbergh but (again) Jimmy does the pilot very well. Interesting point about this movie is that Stewart is YEARS older than Lindbergh was when the event actually took place. Flight of the Phoenix (original) Did anyone mention Memphis Belle?
  13. Not sure about multiple language support buy Microsoft Speech SDK has a decent text-to-speech function. It was free the last time I downloaded it.
  14. Am I to assume this is not on vacation? Sorry, I really can't help much. I have always wanted to visit the Far East, but the closest I have gotten so far is Alaska.
  15. Seriously. I don't think the kid had been keeping up with the news. "Overpowering the flight crew" is nigh on impossible these days. You could threaten the flight attendents, I suppose, but I suspect the airlines have thought that scenario out and have contigencies to protect aircraft and passengers.
  16. Thanks! Yes, I saw those, too, and was actually in the process of ordering when I stumbled across the compatibility issue.
  17. I'm not sure how many of you are fellow Battlefield fans. This was a British series produced in the late 90s that in my opinion is some of the best WWII documentaries I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot.) They did a good job of mixing maps, biographical sketches of national and military leaders with decent amounts of contemporary footage. In any event, since I first saw them on PBS I have been trying to find the series on DVD (or VHS even) and have not had a lot of luck. There are numerous UK stores that sell them but then you are dealing with DVD format issues, etc. I had about given up when I received a recent copy of the catalog from Historic Aviation.com and they had a couple of the episodes for sale. Further searches on bestbuy.com and suncoast.com had several of the episodes available and more coming. Anyway, not sure if anyone really cares, but good fortune should be shared......
  18. Looks like a sweet ride, dude! Bring it on!
  19. It is very hard to lose a pet. I don't know why. I have had friends and family die and it never makes me feel the way I do when I lose a pet. Maybe I am wired wrong. I don't cry much. I'm real close right now. RIP Igor.
  20. I still have a perfectly good Voodoo 3 PCI card that I run on a Windows 98 partition specifically for running EAW, RB3D and Jane's F-15. Now, can you BUY one now? That's a different question. Maybe Amazon or eBay...... You'll have to pry mine out of my cold, dead hands.
  21. Welcome! There are several sticky topics in the General Discussion forum designed to keep folks up-to-date on Works In Progress. Here is one.... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=18809
  22. I am done with LOMAC. It is off my system. I will leave it at that. I get my Russian fix from Flanker 2.5 and my Eagle and Warthog fix from WOE. I fly a lot of RBII, EAW and Jane's F-15. I have also recently gotten back into F-22 Total Air War. I like IL-2 for the variety of interesting historical aircraft. F4AF gives me the Falcon and Jane's F/A-18 gives me the Hornet. I fly FS2004 for serious training and touring the world. As a simmer, life is pretty good these days. EDIT: Dangit! I did post to this once already...... Oh well.....
  23. This is terrible. I think the only game I bought in 2007 was First Eagles. And then the expansion. I have been so busy with real life that I just have not been my usual game consuming self. No, wait. I did buy Harpoon Commander's Edition and I like it so far but, again, have not had a lot of time with it.
  24. God, Hello Kitty........... When my daughter was a toddler she had a Hello Kitty walk-behind toy that was probably just a little louder than an assault rifle. DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING. I should have saved it to give to HER kids. Nice paint job on the rifle, though......
  25. And then I need a volunteer to do a Nebraska Air National Guard skin for it......
