View File F6F-5 Hellcat F6F-5 Hellcat mod for SF/WoV/WoE - WW2 PTO Installs This is a modifcation of Razor/Geo's F6F-3 'Hellcat' into the -5 used by the US Navy and Marine Corps in the Pacific during 1943-45. I call this a 'representative' -5, as it is based on the -3, and still has the rear cockpit windows, which would not be present on the later -5 'represented' here. This is a semi-complete aircraft mod, including all the necessary parts, =excepting= the aircraft LOD, to recreate the standard -5 day fighter-bomber . You =WILL= have to copy the "F6F.LOD" from your original Hellcat's folder to this one. It's highly reccomened you have the original, plus any weapons it adds, in you PTO install. The cockpit is also NOT included, but a new gunsight and cockpit ini is, so you'll need to copy over the -3's cockpit as well. See 'Installation" below... The skin is brand new, from a template created by me, based off the original tri-color that came with the -3 Hellcat. It represents's Hellcats from VF-3 aboard USS YORKTOWN circa early 1945. Weapons stations have been added for the wing-mounted HVARs, as well as the usual bombs and drop tank original built into the -3. My Hellcat Hangar and Loading screens have been included. It is also NOT designed to be used in a WW2 style install of WoI, as WoI handles propeller aircraft -completely- differently, and they do NOT fly properly. You've been warned.... I'm not entirely sure of this....but I think you'll need to have the hud infor for the gunsight; or the gunsight is part of the HUD, at least on the Eagle. Double checke F-16/F-15's cockpit and avionics ini, just to be sure. But I think it's part of the HUD's display Wrench kevin stein

Shooot....it's possible to place ANYTHING, ANYWHERE on the map!!! That's a easy ini edit!! Adding airfields is the beee-atch....and don't I know it!!!! It's doable, you need to add the wanted landing strips, create (or in these cases, recreate) the citylist ini, 'flatten airfields', "smooth airfield texture" (or something like that), and see if it worked. Unfortunately, no. 6 groups is the max. You can have multible stations, in multiple (if I can spelll) places, but only 6 groups. The Skyraider has something like 12-14 stations, but all in 1 group - the HVAR stations, iirc. Wrench kevin stein

Be advised on the Harvard/Texan...you can't assign decals to the vertical tail...it seems it's only mapped 1=sidded, and there many alignment issues (as well as one having the one side), also keep a close eye on the alerions -- both sides MAY still be mapped to the same part of the skin map (lod issue). Learned some of this the hard way on the T-6G "Mosquito" version I was fiddling with for korea. Somwhere around here I should have PSD templates; they'll probably need some cleanup work, as I made them a few years ago... Wrench kevinstein

Searching new Nations.ini and loadout fixes

I went looking for the fix, and I couldn't find it...and I KNOW I wrote it up in there somewhere..... I'm assuming this is for some of the earlier Fisheads?, like Madcaddies pak?? Basically, it's the pilot postion, afterburner emitter position, and the decal positions in the decals ini for pre-patch 4 Fishbeds. (it actually has nothing to do with the installed cockpits...a completely seperate model and NOT related to the aircraft's LOD file, where the fault actually lies -- lods were changed in patch 5) Easiest fix is to extract the data ini from a post patch 5 Fishead (most recent version of whatever game you're using) and just use that data to fix the older, prepatch versions As to decals ini, you can copy/paste the info in, or just copy the entire decals ini. backing up the originals would be a super idea, though... Because the Super Echos, being 'agressor' aircraft are considered an enemy nation (ie: they're assinged an enemy nationality). If you'll all open your "A-4ese_data.ini" to page one (sorry, couldn't resit 'teacher mode'), you'll see this at the top, for the aircraft's mission statment: so, they're not actually US Navy. They're just painted that way -- bonus points for naming that reference! Wrench kevin stein

The cockpit ini treats the IRM and AHM ranging circles thingys as 'gunsights'. That's how I tweeked them for the F-104S-ASA-M. 'midnight velvet?' I don't recognize that one... and I don't think 'bit'o lace' is mine..where'd you get it?? to answer the release quesiton, yes, Include a link to Dr. Wherner's site for the Vark pit. You can, however, inclued modified cockpit inis and any other parts the end user will need to add to it; put 'em in a seperate folder called "add to vark pit" or something llike that. Go back into your cockpit ini, and resize your gunsight spec, definatley a little too large... try this one: GunsightMilSize=50 if it's still too small, go up in increments of 5. You're missing the mirror textures, too it looks like. I"ll need to original names, so I can find them in their various aircrafts, to repaint the letters. It's only the matter of a few seconds to paint the RGB layers, just need to know which ones Wrench kevin stein

You can't change the scale (or size you're asking) with a hex editor. That can only be done in 3dMax with the original file. What the hex editor will do, is allow you to repaint the rotodome's skin bmp, rename it, and use the dome on other things. I'm assuming you're trying to replicate the height above the fusealge? That's easy You're wanting something like this??? I did that like 3 years ago for the Airbus.... Try this for the rotodome positioning: That comes right from the unreleased mod. You might want to double check the weaponsdata entry for the rotodome, making sure it's zero strength jammer. It's seems to find it's way onto several other aircraft, as well. Damn thing is just like an English swallow, migrating hither and yon... No one is safe from the RotoDome!!! I agree, it does need some 'rearranging'...even I found it a little difficult to navigate. It's still a work-in-progress, so things can always be changed to ease the brain-strain We'd thought that breaking it down into the various sections, Beginngers, Intermeaditate (sp?) and Advanced would be better...obviously it's not working as well as we'd hoped... So let's hear some iders guys!! How do you think in should be set up, to make if easy for someone just coming into the sim to find things??? Seperate threads like we had before, or something similiar to now, but with easier navigation?? Direct Links? Give us some direction, and that's the road we'll try to follow WRench kevin stein

Not having GIMP (since I have Photoshops 5, 6, 7), I can't tell you how that program would handle it... but it PS, I'd open the tga in question, going to the channels tab, so it opens the 4 channels - R,G,B, alpha. You can to into the RGB channel, and just paint over the letters with a lighter color. Since the alpha is just basically a 'hold-out matte' like they used to use in movie special effects, what ever is under it will show right through. You know, of course, General MacLanahan dosn't allow art ... in fact, as I recall, the HAWC bird dont' have ANY markings at all!!!... ah, my Kingdon for a MegaFortress...!!!! (still have the DOS game!!) As to your dual missile laucher, don't there be one in the Bunyap pak??? Like for the CAF Hornets??? WRench kevin stein
