You're sure right about that although the BAF (and for that matter KLu) F 16's are getting quite rare.........

Suffered birdstrike yesterday during touch & goes at Kleine Brogel AB. Pilot (traning in the F16 OCU)ejected safely, though he had to be rescued out of a tree by the fire brigade, Plane crashed into a field about 4km from the base. No further victims Always a a dramatic occurrence.... saw it happening right in front of me during take off for the Airpower demo at KLu Open Days 2007 at Volkel. In this case some engine power remained after a restart and after dropping underwing fuel tanks thepilot could make an emergency landing. Demo was cancelled, little birdie vs. 16 F16's : 1-0 If you look carefully at 32 -33 seconds in te slow motion part of the second vid you see the bird being ingested....

Highlights of the top notch F-104G demo team of the German Navy , "THE VIKINGS" in their last year of operation, no less than 1h 16 min of fantastic flying, the Starfighter at its best......... :sohappy: Saw them many times, every show as thrilling as could be !!!! These guys, together with the BAF "Slivers", the RCAF "Canadian Starfighters" in their CF-104's and the legendary and amazing solo demo by our own KLu capt. Hans van der Werf (one must have seen it to believe it was possible in the F-104) really brought the best of the Starfighter. Those were the days my friends..........

Guess the police was waiting with wheelclamps and all to make sure the parking fees are paid.

The Korean 747 should have been forced to land, That's that, the other actions were criminal . Back in the '50's Aeroflot started fying from Moscow to Amsterdam with Tu- 104's, the absolute Badger lookalike,directly developed from it, including the bombers nose. In the north part of our country where we lived then, directly under the airway to the northeast from Schiphol, we regularly saw USAFE 32 FIS "Wolfhounds" F-100 C's from Soesterberg and our own Hunters doing practice intercepts (!) at 30.000 + feet on the Tupolev's (great to see what an afterburner does to a contrail). But on the other side I have seen the Tupolev's flying very much outside the airways at low altitude (a few thousand feet) ..... All our airbases and military installations were photographed, either from directly overhead or oblique. Usually there were "technical problems" in the Tu's, forcing it away from the airway ......... Definitely no question of shooting it down however....

Jaguar and Lightning had overwing stuff too.... (in other words véééry British) but less drag than this.....
