  1. Thanks. Looking forward to these screens. No doubt they will look better than this: Well, at least the decal positions seem to be alright. Also, who came up with the design of VFP-206's tailcode? That design drives me crazy...
  2. Arrrgh, those decals drive me nuts. I don't know what's worse, their color or their positions... But I guess were it not for C5's templates I would have never got that far to bitch about them in the first place. EDIT: One more. I think the decal color is okay now, but I'll probably have to do some of the decals again. WIP or not, that's one good looking skin. Well, at least in my opinion. And yes, I'm well aware that the reserve VFP squadrons did not fly any fighter versions with such a color scheme. Lalalala, I'm not listening.
  3. Yeah. They even made a big-time Hollywood film about it.
  4. I guess that's another reason why the insignia are painted on the skins...and not placed on the model through the decal.ini And before anybody asks, that's not a new skin. It can be found on Paul Nortness' site and has been there for quite some time. Since it was made for the Gunfighter's model it didn't take much work to adapt it for the MF version. All I had to do was change the Node names in the decal.ini. (The fin decal on the other hand belongs to the WOV Crusader's VF-84 skin. I'm still working on this position.) Anyway, it seems to me that it seems impossible to place a decal on the refuel pod door. Or is there a workaround I haven't thought of yet?
  5. That's a great pack, Cork. Btw, who's doing VMFA-122, 323 and 333? After all, the WOV Crusader has some extra unit decals that are in fact not needed for the campaigns.
  6. I agree. Using guided missiles is not that challenging here, since I'm not aware of that the game engine does understand the concept of missile defence anyway. Not to mention the problems with those intercept missions... Just to make this clear, I'm really interested in this blue water operations project, but I'm rather thinking of the WWII era here. Who would not be interested in 'fake' carrier battles ala Coral Sea or Midway of Convoy defense missions using CAMs and MACs against shore based attackers?
  7. Just a stupid question: Would it change anything if those stationary ships are labeled as 'STATIC_AAA'? Because that's the typical target the AI wingmen tend to engage when tasked with air to mud....
  8. Was it a stock (read: WOV) carrier or a third party carrier?
  9. Congrats Sparky! You have taken the interservice rivalry to a new level.
  10. IMHO such a terrain would be great and a 'must have' addon for the SFP1/WOV/WOE series. And it should have plenty of carrier stations...
  11. You'll find the P-38 in WOLF257's aircraft pack.
  12. Is it not in the downloads section?
  13. It does. Another rather unimportant issue solved. I hope C5 doesn't mind that I messed around with his skin. Also, excellcent skins, Cork.
  14. Looks like bucklehead was right about the nose VF51 on a F-8D. VF111 skin on a F-8E. Notice that the hump between the wings isn't textured. But I do think that this should be fixable, as long as the creators of the skins don't mind and one really needs to transfer a skin to another Crusader version.
  15. I'm not sure whether the nose is the problem, but the hump of F-8E caused some glitches when you put a skin made for the F-8D on it...at least that was the case with previous Crusader versions. Also, I really like the F-8J. It looks perfect.
  16. Good to know that the reserve units aren't forgotten. Btw, are the skins for the F-8D and F-8E interchangeable?
  17. Well, this idea isn't really that new. The new USMC Bell UH-1Y and AH-1Z are based on the same concept.
  18. IMHO "F-5E Lightning" is a quite confusing title...for a moment I had thought (and hoped for) that someone had made the recon version of the P-38 Lightning. The skin looks nice, though.
  19. Also known as 'WWII New Guinea Full Scale Terrain'. Check the Terrain downloads.
  20. Well, about twenty years of further development should have lead to some improvement with regard to its capabilities. There are worlds between the AIM-9B and the AIM-9M. AIM-9Bs do hit...but only under certain conditions, most of which have been already mentioned here. But in my opinion the most vital aspect is to get as close as possible, let's say 1-2 nm, not more. Unfortunately you seldom find yourself in such a favorable position.
  21. Badfrank and some other said that the stock Sundowners tailcode refers to deployments with CVW 10 in 1967 and 68 and I pointed out that with regard to the deployment of the Sundowners in the stock Rollling Thunder campaign (1965 with CVW 2) a different tailcode ('NE') would have been more accurate. But I guess that C5 is quite close to the truth when he says that certain decal designs are not determined by historical accuracy, but rather by aesthetic considerations.
