    A must see!

there's a fair amount of petroleum in there for effect - explosives on there own normally don't have flames like that
  2. Try not to shoot into the sun. Shooting in RAW will let you adjust/recover images in post-processing where you got your exposure wrong. As already said it's better to underexpose slightly than overexpose as if a highlight burns out there is nothing to recover. For flying shots you probably want to use shutter speed priority (does the D40 have that?) where the camera will adjust the aperture for correct exposure according to what shutter speed that you have chosen. Faster speeds will freeze the action better but if shooting props you don't want it too high, say~1/200, as you will freeze the props & it will look static - you want a nice prop blur. Become very familiar with your camera & it's settings so that you can change to what you want really without thinking. Practice, practice, practice - that's where I often fall down in that I don't get enough practice for my panning. You are lucky in both the access that you can get & lots of nice, bright light unlike the grey UK. & welcome to a new money pit for your hard-earned cash - lens addiction! I know that you don't like it overall but SimHQ has a small, friendly aviation photo forum plus of course you have places like fence-check & UKAR.

Is, uh,... Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?
  6. it depends upon what you consider that it needs to be more realistic. Interestingly enough it seems that real pilots rarely complain but see PC games/sims for what they are which is pretty divorced from the real thing. Indeed it seems that those with real experience of the particular aircraft in the jet games (as there aren't too many people with real SE5/DVII/SPAD experience) often comment favourably on the overall feel of the FMs whereas many of the doubting Thomas' have never flown 1 in real life As Sag say trees, buildings etc. are not real objects. TK says that having 100% collision detection would increase the computer load & hence necessary system spec. considerably. It is however, definitely possible to suffer considerable damage by flying into other aircraft & indeed the ground ... At the end of the day these games are about having fun in a fairly believable setting - neither arcade nor "full real".
  7. yes, it's easily done as you just need to add the relevant systems. there should be something on it in the knowledge base.
  8. flying what? 85% would normally put you in burner & autopilot doesn't normally fly in burner ... btw you might want to get that caps key checked out
  9. but what if a Marine General orders you to? Semper Fi ...
  10. same as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lYxrANbKUk...ted&search= Fighter Pilot
  11. apparently it's had some severe limitations applied as to it's use though
  12. it's a simple question of weight ratios ...

    Check This out

& at the ranges that RPGs operate at that usually isn't a problem ... At similar ranges a heavy machine gun would do more damage to a Comanche than an Apache. Remember that it's role was a reconnaisance chopper with the ability to attack targets of opportunity not a dedicated attack chopper.
  14. Got it all on DVD ...
  15. & often their own aircraft were as deadly to the pilot as the enemy's. These weren't highly stable aircraft with precise handling & the speed of progress was such that what was top of the heap 1 month was a sitting duck 3 months later ...
  16. Gogamer carry it as an import afaik. Just to let you know that in Europe at least there is a new value bundle coming out including 4 games: Battle of Britain II Wings of Victory F/A-18 Operation Desert Storm First Eagles The Great War: 1918 Strike Fighters Gold http://www.amazon.co.uk/Combat-Flight-Coll...9321&sr=8-1 http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/3250872/-/...;searchsource=0 http://www.startupsoftware.co.uk/cgi-bin/s...tml%23a406#a406 £14 ($27) incl. worldwide postage
  17. anyone tried using the wayback machine? http://www.archive.org/index.php
  18. iirc the next Third Wire installment is meant to have an RE-8
  19. v.5.25.06 was a hotfix - if you download v5.15.06 from Thirdwire now what you get is SFP1_sp051506b.exe which combines the original v5.15.06 & the v5.25.06 hotfix
  20. because Third Wire calls some of them Service Packs (i.e more than just patches as they include additional functionality as well as fixes). then there are patches & hotfixes ... & the previous packs are still available in the downloads section here.
  21. The late tranche 1 Typhoons already have an air-to-ground capability using paveway. Anyway, it looks like this is probably where they got their info from before adding their own unique spin http://www.raf.mod.uk/news/index.cfm?story...E38C1F1E8385517 Also, more at http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2007/...t-contract.html
  22. That's really rather cool.
  23. why don't you ask TK if it could be made so ( obviously not just for WOV)?
  24. Thing is that the cost of remanufacturing a CH-47D (i.e. a 20 year old bird) to CH-47Fs is reportedly $8.5 million & that incl. new engines etc. so why are we paying ~$12 million per aircraft just for downgraded avionics ...?
  25. well, the latest news is that the MoD is going to spend £60m to get these 8 or 9 airframes operational - by downgrading their avionics ...
