  1. Burns Night here in Scotland haggis & whisky
  2. nice guy, signed my copy of "When Thunder Rolled"
  3. There is nothing wrong with having a different opinion or arguing that point of view as long as it is done intelligently, civilly & maturely. Indeed discussion is a good thing. Acting like a spoilt kid is not & we may just send offenders to stand in the corner ...
  4. that's always going to be subjective - those that have them seem to think that they are quite an improvement on the standard X52. Saitek have a new driver release due next week & it may also coincide with some more options in their programming software.
  5. well your choices for a combo will probably be TM Afterburner II - cheap if you can find 1, does the job OK but ultimately the most limited in programming Saitek of some sort - X45/X52/X52 Pro - more programmable than the AB II but not as much as the CH/Cougar CH products - very reliable, extremely programmable, TM Cougar - feels good (metal), extremely programmable, may not be the most reliable Having handled all 4 I would say that you can probably narrow it down to the Saitek & CH choices. Imo CH probably have the better stick but Saitek have the better throttle As you're in the US there may not be a massive difference in price between an X52 Pro & a CH setup but an X52 would probably come in well under that.
  6. http://wesleytech.com/plextor-exits-cd-dvd-markets/ Came as a surprise to me but as ODDs become commodities how they could justify the size of the premium over NEC/Samsung etc. drives I don't know. edit: apparently won't affect America http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=5826
  7. The X52 pretty much runs up to the red line in terms of power draw available from USB which is why it's not recommended to run from a non self-powered hub - usually the USB ports on the backplane are the best. If your PSU output is starting to decline (as they all do with age) it could possibly not be supplying enough power. Alternatively you could try to roll back to when it was working before or you could try an uninstall/re-install. if you've read www.saitekforum.com then you should be familiar with "First unplug your controllers, click Start>Run and type ny -7 (drivers newer than 4.3.3.1727 ) (case sensitive) and click OK. Now go to Control Panel and run the Add/Remove Programs icon. Remove all Saitek entries in the list of programs and then go to the C:\Program Files directory and delete the Saitek folder. Restart your computer and the files will all be uninstalled. Now browse to your C:\Windows\Inf folder (if you can't see an Inf folder then click Tools>Folder Options at the top of the window, then click View at the top of the window that comes up. In there click the dot next to the Show Hidden Files and Folders option and then click OK - you should now be able to find an Inf folder in the Windows directory) and look for the OEM0.inf file. Find the highest numbered OEMXX.inf file and double click on it - a Wordpad screen will open up with information in it. You're looking for any lines that refer to Saitek (usually at the top of the window). If you don't see any such info close that window and open the next OEMXX.inf file - so if you started on, say, OEM30.inf then you'd now open OEM29.inf. If you find any that refer to us then close the window and delete that OEMXX.inf file along with its accompanying OEMXX.pnf file. Go through all of them until you have deleted any files that mention us. Now do a search for files in Windows using the following search string: sai*.* Once it's finished finding any files delete them - files only though, don't delete any folders. Now restart the PC and then install the X52" Btw Vista drivers are due out next week & i wouldn't be at all surprised if there's an XP update to match.
  8. I may be wrong but iirc I did read that they were working on a follow up game.
  9. also supposedly a reworked/rereleased commercial version coming at the end of February http://play.com/Games/PC/4-/3250871/-/Prod...;searchsource=0
  10. have you installed the game in a non-default directory? If so can you guide the installer to where it is?

  12. 1) you've got 18 posts which would have let you download 2) we cancelled that requirement about a week ago ...
  13. Congrats to the lucky SOBs oops, I mean winners
  14. well the UK/GB is obviously 1 (well actually 4 or 3 ) unless you rule it out due to the Channel Isles (which are Crown dependencies & not actually part of the UK). Russia attacked Finland in the winter of 1939-40 & Finland ended up losing some land to Russia in the treaty that followed but the government stayed intact.
  15. I don't know exactly how accurate it is in the TW games but in real life deltas do bleed energy badly in turns.
  16. the SE.5A & SPAD XIII were both quicker than the DVII (SE.5A slightly but the SPAD noticeably so)
  17. I was just watching a programme last night about WWI aircraft/pilots. main things I took away from it were: their own aircraft were often just as dangerous to the pilots as the enemy were ... an aircraft that was top of the heap one month was often at the bottom a few months later such was the rate of change. In the case of the Albatros the main advantage that it seems to have had when it was introduced was that it carried 2xMG firing forward through the propeller & that it was the increased firepower that gave it the edge rather than any handling advantage.
  18. & then there's Renault, the BMW Sauber doesn't look bad, who knows what Williams will be like this year, Toyota have the ambition & the $$s ... Should be an interesting start to the season
  19. afaik we've dropped that requirement now
  20. anybody interested in making a concerted effort on this? I know quite a few on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th pages (as far as I've looked) ...
  21. other new aircraft http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/Skunworks1.html - you will have to email them for a password
  22. <nitpick>emm, the UK is actually 4 separate countries on it's own so the question is obviously wrong ... </nitpick> What's your classification of "involved"? e.g. neutral countries may not have been involved in the actual combat but still had some involvement e.g. Spain, Switzerland etc.
  23. options>controls>camera controls - click it & then move your hat
  24. Hi, I didn't make the Weapon Editor, that's a Third Wire tool. Unfortunately the software that CA uses labels the person that uploads a file as the author.
