Still Work in Progress, the carrierborne MiG-23K.
  4. I remember reading a british battle report of fighter activities in WW2. The author wrote, that the warningcall "109 on your tail" forced all british fighter pilots in range to break. Same thing i read in russian reports of MiG-15 activity in Korea.
  5. I have never had problems with landing the F-1. Landing speed around 250 km/h. At higher speeds the landing becomes a little bit difficult.
  6. Every terrain has an "invisible" wall around, so that you cant go out of the terrain. Maybe the MiG's run against this wall.
  7. If planes are set on the same place on airfields, the reason is, that there is no desert_airfield.ini file available. I guess 12ams plays WOE or WOV. BoB terrain is written for SFP1. It use desert_airfield3.ini file for plane location on airfields. The older versions of WOE and WOV does not include desert_airfield3.ini. With the latest patch TK included the SFP1 airfield files into WOE and WOV. The simplest solution of 12ams problem is to download the latest patch.

  11. View File Battle of Britain terrain version 1.4 Version 1.4 After a long periode of silence i thought, that BoB terrain was dead. BoB was forgotten. But then i found the BoB Campaign at www.combatace.com and it was a great campaign for my forgotten terrain. Then the campaign builders contacted me and this was the kickstart for me to improve BoB terrain again. - I updated some terraintiles. Mostly the cities, the villages and the airfields. -Then i invested some time in making target areas in France. You find now industrial targets in Paris and other french towns. Some new airfields i added and i made the Port of Brest. - The Convoys are made by Steven for his BoB Campaign. I added them in my terrain too, after a very small modification. - there are now 229 target areas, this are 65 more as in Version 1.3. - german fighter bases (Fliegerhorst) also got a new face. I tested the terrain as intensive as i could and found no bugs. If you find bugs, then please contact me via PM at SIMHQ Forum or at COMBATACE Forum. Finally i want to say thank you to all guys who supported me in building this terrain with files and hints. Submitter Gepard Submitted 09/08/2007 Category Terrains

View File 10 new airbases for SFP1/WOE New Airbases for SFP1 / WOE v. 3.0 ************************* 1: This is an update of version 2.0 to make the airfields compatible with the October 08 patch. The other rason to make a new version is that Capun requested to remove his files from this mod. Thats pity, because his static aircrafts were a nice feature of my airfields. **************************************** 2. This is the release of the 10 new airbases for WOE. The bases are: GDR (East Germany) Drewitz Holzdorf Marxwalde Preschen Trollenhagen Zerbst FRG (West Germany) Ahlhorn Büchel Hopsten Pferdsfeld All bases i made by using satellite pictures to place the groundobjects to become a look that is similar to the original airbases. *************************************** 3. INSTALLATION instruction: Be carefull! Backup of your _targets.ini and _types first! 1. Unzip all files into your Terrain/GermanyCE folder. Thats all ***************************************** 4. A word to modders In the folder "Airfields raw files" you find 10 txt files. Each file containes the lines of one airbase. So it is easier for you to copy this unique airbases for use in other terrains target_data.ini file.. ****************************************** 5. Final words. I want to say thank you to Enrico Gennari who made the runway, parking areas and taxiway files. I also want to say thank you to the unkown guy who made the basic file for the GFD-12 shelters which i have taken from EuroWW2 terrain. ***************************************************** This airbases are freeware and are not allowed for commercial use. 21. The effect of the guns, especially of the light machine guns is overmoddeled. This is true. But with adding armour on the planes you can change this and you can harden them against light Flak. By the way, it is not only the soviet way to trust more on the big caliber guns. All european airplanebuilding contries(Sweden, France, GB, Germany) use caliber 27 to 30 mm.
  22. The major quality improvement step was from MiG-23MF to ML. The ML was lighter and stronger. The engine was much more efficent, so that the aft tank could be removed. The weapon system was also improved. You must understand, that the MiG-23 was developed as counterpart to the planned F-111 fighter versions. But when entered the service they had to face the F-15 and F-16. The developed MiG-23 tactic against this planes was hit and run. Avoid close combat at all costs, hold the speed high, fire the medium range missiles and run away with full burner. The syrians claim some (if i remember right 10) F-16 kills in 1982 due MiG-23MF while using medium range missiles and using hit and run tactics. One or two years later they claime one F-15 kill due MiG-23ML. There is no official confirmation by israeli sources. The MiG-23 was not the loved plane. In the east german airforce LSK/LV it was originally intended to build up a big MiG-23 force. When the MiG-23 was available in 1977 and the first service experiences came in it was decided in 1980 to wait till the MiG-29 was exported by the soviets. Flight tests in Manching after the reunification of Germany showed that the MiG-23 was underestimated by western services. It proved better than expected. 12 MiG-23ML were exported to the USA in early 1991 to give them a chance to find out the real weak points of this bird before the Gulf War began. If you ask from where i have my knowledge. I served out my military time from 1988 to 1990 in the LSK/LV.
  23. In real combat the Strela-2 missile was not unsuccesfull. A lot of A-4 Skyhawk were hit in Yom Kippur War by this missile. The weakpoint of the weapon was the small warhead, so that the majority of hitten planes survived the missile hit. The Strela 2 is today outdated and was replaced by the Igla missile. Igla is comparable with Stinger, but had a much wider field of view.
  24. Jaguar in landing approach at Hopsten air base.
