What do you think about this: Base Aérea Militar Río Gallegos I dont know why the Argentinians need a 4.000 meters runway. Have they an own Shuttle to land it there or was it an emergency runway for the american Shuttle program, like Templin in East Germany was it for the soviet Buran?

I wrote in the ReadMe the links to Mues Toolbox and TK's Terraineditor. In the terrain you find the folder Tileset with the file IslandNATexturelist. Should help.

Short description: This terrain covers the south of South America and is focused on Tierra del Fuego. The timeframe of the terrain is from 1960 to 2030 It is a two nations map: Argentina and Chile. It is made as a NavalMap so that you can fly carrier missions against Chile. You can fly following missions: SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,SEAD,ANTI_SHIP,RECON,CAS,ARMED_RECON The terrain works best in a separate South America installation, otherwise you will find a lot of soviet planes and FLAK. How to do a separate installation please look in the SF2 Knowledgebase in CombatAce forum. It is a fast made terrain with some issues: I have not checked the coastline, so you will surely find "water climbing the hill". The very most target areas are only populated with 1 warehose and 1 Flak. The complete area north of Tierra del Fuego i have not touched. The tileset i took from IslandNA terrain, which is outdated by todays standards. (256x256 pixel tileset instead modern 1024x1024) ********************************************************************************************* Use the terrain for own improvements. Feel free to modify this terrain. If you want to release your own improvments include that ReadMe file in your package and give me proper credit. Planning Map: 3 argentinian airbases, 2 chilean airbases All target areas on Tierra del Fuego: Some screenshots of Porvenir Airport, Chile Here the small argentinian airfield Tolhuin (i hope that is correct) This base i made a little bit longer than in reality. Otherwise the planes were unable to take off from this base. I also had to be creative with the take off positions of the planes. I hope, that i can release it till tomorrow. At the moment i'm on testing the terrain. Known issues: I have not checked the coastline, so you will surely find "water climbing the hill". The very most target areas are only populated with 1 warehose and 1 Flak. The complete area north of Tierra del Fuego i have not touched. The tileset i took from IslandNA terrain, which is outdated by todays standards. (256x256 pixel tileset instead modern 1024x1024) It is a first and quick try to make the terrain. It is completly operational, but need a lot of work to finish it (New tileset, checking the long coastlines, populating the target areas .....)

Could be difficult. The AI can not really handle airfields situated in narrow valleys. The planes tend to crash into the mountains.

Ushuaia Airport (left) and Ushuaia Naval Air Station (right) Only the Airport is made operational in game. I doubt, that the AI can handle the mountains north of the Naval Air Station, thatwhy it is made only as eyecandy. The runway of the airport is shorter than in real life, but otherwise it would not fit.

Some target areas on Tierra del Fuego. Only placeholders with one warehouse and a Flak each, to test whether Strike, SEAD, RECON, INTERCEPT missions will work. You see the blue stripe in the middle. It is the place of a lake (name forgotten, sorry i'm not familiar with this part of our world). Here i must do still a lot of tiling and height setting by hand. Quick made terrain. Only 2 bases, one for each side, plus a argentinian carrier station. If there is an interesse on this Beta terrain i could release till end of the year. This could be a basic for others who could add more target areas and could create new tiles for towns or so.

A terrain could look so: While the east - west distances are more or less correct, the north south distances are to short. The reason is, that the DEM database, which covers the heightfield data of the world are warped. As closer you come to the poles the warp effect becomes bigger and bigger.

Never heared about that conflict. But no problem at all. My 2 cents about that idea: pro: there are enough airfields in that area to make a proper air war Planes and camos for that conflict are available Vehicles should not the big problem. contra: making the terrain would be enormous time consuming, because the coastline is formed by hundreds of firthes, which must mostly created by hand As basic tileset, the IslandNA tileset would fit, but it must increased by a lot of new made tiles, what needs a lot of time I guess it would need more than a year to make this terrain properly.

Take off for a strike mission at the coast of North Vietnam. Closing to the target. Was detected by a vietnamese junk boat, but they have no radio, so no problem at all. Target hit, avading Flak fire and set course to the carrier. Heading home. Touchdown, home again. Now a cold bottle of beer!

DRV 2.1.2 is released now Update DRV 2.1.2 added some fishing ports, with some junks, fuel drums and a little bit Flak added rocks some miles east of Hai Phong solved the "distant mountains" problem, which was graphic glitch that appeared in DRV 2.0 till 2.1.1 reworked the farm-rivermouth tile added Red Crown with CG-16 Leahy class cruiser reworked some Flak batteries Have fun!

I adjusted the number of Flak in a Flak Battery to 6 guns. And i tried to move the Flak so on the made, that they are not hide in houses anymore. I hope, that i got them all. If not, let me know. I uploaded DRV 2.1.2 some minutes ago. Waits for the okay of an admin. -

Update DRV 2.1.2 added some fishing ports, with some junks, fuel drums and a little bit Flak added rocks some miles east of Hai Phong solved the "distant mountains" problem, which was graphic glitch that appeared in DRV 2.0 till 2.1.1 reworked the farm-rivermouth tile added Red Crown with CG-16 Leahy class cruiser Red Crown in full action to smash down incoming MiG's. -

The placement of this shelters beside the concrete is a compromise. If i put it on the concrete the shelters begin to disappear if you fly in a certain altitude. I dont know, how to overcome this strange behaviour of the flat concrete areas. To have the shelters visible all the time i placed them beside the concrete. To explain the problem here 2 screenshots of my Michigan terrain. In the upper screenshot the parking area of the airfield seems to be empty. Neither the 2 ShelterA hangars and the parked aircrafts are visible. The Hangars, which i have placed beside the parking area are clearly visible. In the second screenshot planes and shelters are visible. I have no idea how to overcome this problem. -

For the Halong Bay rocks i use so far 3 different rocks, which were made by GKABS. I will check the other GKABS rocks whether they will fit or not into Halong Bay. -
