My next terrain project
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
If you mean, wheter i will make the map to a naval map, so that modern chinese ships and carriers could appear, then the answer is Yes. -
I started writing during my studies at the University. There we had to write longer texts and i found out, that i liked it. During this time i visited the ILA airshow in Berlin and i came in contact with some exhibitors. I asked them questions over questions and someone asked back, wheter i'm a journalist. I denied. But an idea was born. I wrote a short article about the modernisation of the MiG-23 and sent it to an Air Magazin. Then i forgot the whole thing. But some weeks later the Air Magazing answered and published my article. Others followed. Then, some years later the german publishing house Motorbuchverlag Stuttgart started with a seria of small books called "Typenkompass". I liked this small dictionaries and so i wrote one about the combat aircrafts of the east german air force. Then i sent it to Stuttgart, with no much hope. But i was lucky, the lector who was responsible for aviation, read an article of me in the Air Magazin Fliegerrevue, when he got my proposal for a manuscript. So my name was not new for him and he saw my style to write. And he liked what he saw. The publishing house was interessted in this book and it was printed and published. Some books later the lector asked me, wheter i would like to write bigger books. And here we are! My ideas for you are: -start small. Write articles or small books in the way you want to read them. And send them to publishing houses. - Then pray and hope. But to be honest even if you has already a name in the branche, like me, you will have no certainty that the article or book will be published. I have written a lot of articles and some books which ended in the waste paper bin. Shit happens. It it happens more often that when you have success. - Never make the mistake of "self publishing"! There are publishing houses who offers "self publishing". What means you have to pay for that they print the book. They make no attempt to sell your book, this is your job. And selling a book is a very hard job. I dont know how it is in the country frome where you are, but in Germany "self publishers" are seen as "losers". No real publishing house will touch anything of them. Self publishing is like burn yourself.

Sit-report of China vs Vietnam terrain: City coast tiles reworked with smaller waves now. I think it looks better. And so it looks from higher flight level. In the right lower corner you see one original tile from Green Hell 3.5 -

Small progress also at my other terrain project "BoB 2 for the 1960th" RAF Thorney Island, added a concrete runway RAF Odiham, new positions for parking planes. Looks better now and more realistic. -
Yes. Its only in german language. Perhaps the publishing house will find an english publisher, as they did it with my Mi-24 book.

I doubt, that it is possible to make a F-15 stealthy. The design of the air intakes is so, that you get a perfect look on the fans of the engine. The fans are perfect radar reflectors, which increase the size of the radar cross section dramatically. IIRC the F-15 had had a frontal radar cross section of 15 - 20 m², what is a lot!

First attempts to make coast tiles. The buildings are TOD made, taken from Starys Green hell 3.5. The water and the port are new. I'm not really happy with it yet. But it is only a first step of a very long way.- 813 replies

limited nations in sf1
Gepard replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
IIRC the limited nation thing does not work for SF1, WoX world. Maybe with WOI Operation Kadesh addon it will work, but not with the basic games. -
Is a problem of the game. Sometimes it helps to give the command "BREAK", before you give the command "REJOIN". Then make sure, that you have not seleceted an enemy target by yourself.

Need Help... again
Gepard replied to Capt_McFly's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Okay. Lets go. I hope you has already created a mod folder. If not, then create one. How to do, you find in the Knowledgebase in this forum. In that folder you find the subfolder "objects" - Open it Then you find in this folder the subfolder "Aircraft" - Open it Then you find the subfolder "A-6E" - Open it So it looks: Unpack the cockpitfiles of both links (this from your first post and of my first post) into this folder. So the result should look: Double click on file A-6E and open it with Notepad Editor You find following lines: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=A-6E Intruder AircraftShortName=A-6 AircraftDataFile=A-6E_data.ini LoadoutFile=A-6E_loadout.ini UserList=A-6E_UserList.ini Now open file A-6A and look for the lines: CockpitDataFile=A-6A_cockpit.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=A-6A_avionics.ini Copy this lines and past it into file A-6E The result should looks so: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=A-6E Intruder AircraftShortName=A-6 AircraftDataFile=A-6E_data.ini LoadoutFile=A-6E_loadout.ini UserList=A-6E_UserList.ini CockpitDataFile=A-6A_cockpit.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=A-6A_avionics.ini Make sure that you paste the lines at the correct place Save the file. Start the game and it should run -

The A-6 cockpit in your link is only a repaint. No readme file. No wonder that you have problems. There are a lot of neccessary file missing. To get the A-6 running you need this download too: Tomorrow more. Its to late now for explanations. -

The problem is, that i have to choose between roads on all farmtiles or no roads on all farmtiles. And after a further look at Google Earth i think roads on all tiles are closer to reality than no roads. -

I did it again and this time the roads of two neighbor tiles fits much more better. Vietnam has now a dense street network. Next step it will be to paint some villages on the tiles.- 813 replies

My next terrain project
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
After long studies of sat images from Google Earth i realized what i disliked on Green Hell. Vietnam is highly populated. Nearly all 1000 meters is a village, while the Green hill is nearly empty of villages. Thatswhy i thought i should make roads on each Farm tile. This is what the first attempt looks like: Unfortunatly i was not carefull enough while painting the roads. When i marked the end of the roads on tileend i had a calculation error of 18 pixels. Thatswhy some tiles does not fit and the roads have a gap on tileend. What means, back to start. But the principle is confirmed. I must only adjust the positions more carefully. When the roads are good i will place villages on the map, so that the terrain will be heavily populated.- 813 replies

My next terrain project
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I had it in mind too, but i looked at Google Earth and found, that this terrain would consist of 95% forrest, some rivers and villages with small farmland.
