In a country where peoples demonstrate as easy as they think, nothing is surprising anymore... they should be dumped from a "Vautour" bombs bay wearing IAF colors, just to show them the meaning of "cooperation". But on the other side it's a bit funny to see the horseshoe theory being confirmed. I remember during my highschool time on mainland that the majority of these demonstrations were made by extreme right as left wingers.

  9. I found nothing about the aicraft today's status. However rummaging through my books about the BUFF, an article mentions the accident. "On January 10, 1964 the unit is engaged in operations far along an "Olive Branch" road in the Rockies. The B-52 is heavy loaded (two Hound Dog and full fuel) and operates at high speed (between 240 and 405 kts) and at less than 500 ft. Turbulences being too violent, the crew decided to climb to 13000 ft. The vertical stabilizer, already weakened, broke due to strong winds. Demonstrating remarkable control, both pilots succeed, after three-hour of flight, to land their flying wing, bringing with them precious datas. On January 13, just three days after, a B-52D (55-0060) from the 484 BW suffered a break in flight and crashed in Maryland. "

  13. Honestly this race does not impress me any more than the other "at its scale." I live with four cats, a "Cocotiere" (one Caribbean bastard, 100% pure BBQ oil) and a little Bulldog, they have received a strong education and I never had any troublse with them . For them, once out in the streets leash is mandatory and barking is prohibited. However I have to confess that some dogs, such as Rottweilers and Dobermanns got an aggressive aparence to me. A friend of mine had a Dober' (wisely called Bismarck) and he wasn't a care bear...

  15. Nice one ! As some, here, say, there was at first the legendary "aviators", great adventurers of the skies, then air regulations cut them one of their wings. They became what was called "pilots", trying to carry out their glorious mission with passion. Alas the air rules cut their last wing and they became "aircrews", unable to fly.
  16. Seems a bit logical. Why would they paid for a twin engines aircraft to replace their single engine ones. I especially wonder what the Marinha will choose to replace its old Skyhawk, here on sea, the single jet engines are not really more on the agenda.
  17. I don't know if it would help, but this one was taken in August 96. Here AC-102 left vertical stab is visible Once back home tomorrow I'll try to find all pictures taken onboard the Roosevelt, 101 is probably on one of them.

  21. Why not put two small turbojets at the wingtip, empty the engines housing and use them as fuel tanks or rocket launchers (like with the F-94 middle wings rocket pods ?)
  22. What if: to ensure greater survivability of its recon F-5G over Indochina, the French Air Force fitted them with two Turbomeca Palas under the wings.
  23. Agree with SayWhatt, to me it couldn't be anything else than a Bird Dog. Edit: the dual pod seems to be for 2.75 inch WP rockets.
  24. Too bad they did not install the refueling boom like on Sentry units. If there is no USAF KC-135 or KC-10 to support them in their ops area they will probably not have their feet long enough (mainly to reach the South Atlantic sector).
  25. I can't remember precisely... but it seems to me the Sea Vixen and Gloster Javelin cockpits were similar.
