  1. for the less OCD, you set up installs per what your doing with em (all naval war stuff into the SF2NA folder, all NATO stuff into SF2E etc). even then you often go back and say "oh, wow i forgot that was in there"
  2. i turned it off awhile back for some reason. back on now, so long as nothing pops up to remind me why i killed that feature. i usually save work after major changes, thats why it came as a suprise that this vanished. lets say the baseline column and row template with 5 units added that was left is considerably less than the 42 units for 1972 through 1994 alone not the worst thing to happen, not the best
  3. this one originated from recent experience so there i was, three days of research on KC-135 units timelines in Excel. its beeee-yooo-teee-ful. a master list for 72 through 94 and 94 through now. start dates, stop dates, conversion dates and types. all bar graphed out. THEN i make a copy of hte master and can set up a visual representation of entry or exit dates for a given model. units getting lined up in order of whatever date i need (conversion to E, A retirement etc) All this so i can make one huge numbers list then control what the skin looks for in the textureset ini. again, bee yoo tee ful set up. Guess which excel spreadsheet disappeared when my system shut itself down last night to update? sad part is i truly thought i had saved the damn thing Back up your stuff folks. and verify that ya did
  4. Arkhamuk, having read your question again, no not really. NF5 in the campaigns will have a lot for Europe but it boils down to what are you interested in for what mods you want to get
  5. on top of all that, some aircraft call on parts (pits or damage models for starters) from the stock game, which can come from different games. also skins are for the aircraft they are for; I made a skin set for the F-4N for both DLC version and STORMs version here (same skins and decals, different ini entries due to model). if you dont have Thirdwire's F-4N, you'll have to get STORMs. 95% of the mods in here will state what version of the game you need, if you need somebody elses mod, or if it will work in any version. of that 5%, 90% or those will work in any version. Read the descriptions prior to download and readmes after download and you should be ok if you cant afford, will take time to get or just dont want all the titles, look at what interests you the most, then get other titles to supplement that. my main interest is Europe 1948-1994. I started with SF2E, got Vietnam to have carriers, Isreal to add some aircraft, the expansion sets to add some aircraft..... you get the idea although i did eventually get to full 5 merged +2 (all the major titles and expansion sets). Additional titles will automatically merge together. hope all these answers help, and good luck finding what you are looking for
  6. oh, and anyone remember what gas station used this logo? i mean besides the ones assigned to the only unit to drop an atomic bomb in anger
  7. again with the obscure 80s markings Wurtsmith Blythesville (or Eaker) old models, when we used tech to burn water but this isnt smoky enough. do we have a VERYdirtyExhaust out there? i want a VW, Phantom and coal plant to look and say DAMN
  8. very nice. your own or did i miss something in the downloads? my ODS install right now is strictly what eburger68 did, original and updates
  9. as far as i can tell its only Nevada ANG, not Alabama in ODS. unless its in one of the skinpacks or redux's out there. it's on the todo list to make an ODS skin, one apiece for Alabama, Nevada, Zweibrucken and Bergstrom units. just not until current tanker project and Buffs at a minimum. at least unlike the Weasels, all the recce birds were gray by then
  10. well why were ya hiding it amariani ? on a serious note, the tail hook warning should come off the low viz versions (including wraparound), but nice catch on teh style of the dark grey on the nose (most units just did a anti glare on the top, not wrapped) you wouldnt have some Alabama ANG hiding too would ya?
  11. should be similar to the C iirc, i remember reading about the QRF-4s being faster due to lack of slats but the QF-4E/Gs pulling more G (due to slats). could the stock F-4C serve as a good guideline? Rusty, how are you at making decals? the biggest issue i could see with the mississippi skin is to remove the markings on the tail. the easiest cheatenist way is to take the part from the psd template (just a square of the area around the tail) and over lay on top of the offending part in the skins jpg. basic cut and paste. the rest of the jpgs seem to be ok for a low viz skin without unit specific markings. will try to whip one up, but real life and the honey do list are giving me trouble getting to my own projects easy parts, so giving it a try may be faster. beyond that, decals for unit markings and serial numbers and you got what you want. good luck and looking forward to seeing what you come up with
  12. Gen 1, with Zweibrucken in Hill 2, a Euro One and SEA Wraparound (Mississipi ANG marking on skin). Its a copy from column 5s site and an executable rather than file based. suggest loading into a holding folder if you go this route and making the adjustments to the files to adjust from gen 1 to gen2 you may want to hunt around the D/L section for the templates that will suit your needs there is this one by Sundowner, excellent templates but will need tweeking around the nose. It will however allow you to blank out the markings on the tail for the wraparound there is a thread in the knowledge base concerning changing Gen1 birds to Gen 2 hope this helps
  13. hold one, theres a Gen one bird with this, checking if available on here or only in my files
  14. bear with me, the following is a bit i did to Dels OLD C-130 to remove the chaff/flare dispensers he had. i did it a while ago so had to look around abit. in the data ini after last component entry in [AircraftData] //moves// Component[010]=BigBlade1<--------- just the name of the "part you are creating to remove the offending piece. i call it bigBlade when do this as im cutting the peice off Component[011]=BigBlade2 [BigBlade1] ParentComponentName=Nose<------- just as it says, whats the main part the node is attached to? ModelNodeName=CM_Fwd_L<------------ name of the node itself youre removing DestroyedNodeName=CM_Fwd_L DetachWhenDestroyed=TRUE HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE someone can give a better explanation but basically it turns the part you want gone into a part of the damage model, and it disappears until you do something bad and break teh plane on a mission. over simple desciption, but its how i understand it ok real life example, crusader beat me to it on the what
  15. caution about that: check that removing the node wont leave a hole. the slime lights are generally luminescent parts of the model not lights that can be turned off. found that out the hard way with the RF-4B
  16. boss bird not at the march tho..
  17. as i first heard it, replace Army guy with 2LT and Air Force guy with First Sergeant oddly brings back memories of Balad in Iraq 2005. AF rotated every 4 months, while Army was waiting to hear if they would be extended from a year to 15 months. for this story the newest batch of AF arrived around mid Aug, and we (Army) were on month 10. See, EOD would do a command detonation of all the items found that go boom every day at 1100. People would gather waiting for chow starting at around 1050. So about 50 new AF guys are waiting early as they arent settled into their new jobs yet. me and my buddy are talking and BOOM!!!! Glance at watch, its 1059. Alls well. we keep talking four 10 more seconds and realize all the AF guys are gone. ?!?!?!?!? then, some senior airman (lotta stripes on sleeve) peeks out of the bunker and yells that we need to get in the bunker. "Why, its just a command det" my buddy yells back Big Chief Airman says " you dont know that! Policy is to get in the bunker!" 5 seconds after he says this, camp loudspeakers come on and announce "This is Big Voice, Controlled Det is complete. Big Voice out" Interestingly, they moved faster than the Vipers taking off to get in the bunker, but slower than molasses to get out, and weren't in country long enough to be that red yet!
  18. well, after three kids, i can attest through watching my wife that those that are pregnant can move VERY fast when full of piss
  19. bit off topic, but Gepard reminds me of something. i noticed one of my last times through Germany (Leipzig airport 2011 to be exact) that the younger crowd was not to friendly to Americans, even though most we tried interacting with were working cash registers (ie working customer service) and several of us who had been stationed there years before spoke enough Deutsche to ask how much for a coke or cigarettes. Acted positively deaf to that. 5 minutes later, i go outside and find an older lady smoking and ask "hast du ein zigaretten bitte?" (its been a few years, my spelling is probably off). She was quite happy that i could ask auf Deutsche and hooked me up and tried to have a conversation. again, hadnt lived there in over eight years at that point so conversation didnt go far but the older crowd seems friendlier to Americans in general, even the osties. and no, this isnt to open a political can of worms. when i was stationed there in late 90s, early 00s there was a marked difference between the politics between nations and the interactions between people. seems the new generations are not keeping it separate back on topic: haven't you watched the news the last year Dave? its a trap!
  20. are skin templates part of your specification for the project? good luck and i hope this works out for you and the contractor. if it works out and is good , said contractor may want to consider a side business like Razbam had and yunped tried
  21. well, if we were happy with the established answer the download section would be alot smaller
  22. a site that banned me and wont accept any more requests for membership.thank you so much for bringing up a painful subject, and while youre at it, just give me a nice papercut and pour some lemon juice in it why dont you
  23. Well this is interesting. Not to mention name any other AF flying Vipers and Rooks (F-16, Su-25) http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/20330/iraqs-an-32-cargo-planes-turned-bombers-flew-nearly-twice-as-many-strikes-as-its-f-16s

  24. only USAF anti ship action anywhere around that time was the Mayaguez incident (May 75) and F-111s and A-7s out of Thailand used mainly 20 mm and regular bombs, although it was a hostage situation as well and they were trying not to kill the folks they were trying to rescue (most was fired in fromt of the boats to get tehm to stop). AC-130s were used as well, and a 105mm cannon in direct fire mode will stop pretty much anything smaller than a frigate and unable to fire back. Maverick would have been able to be used against smaller ships, although getting in range of the missile and out of range of air defences could be an issue. i recall reading something in a book years ago talking about the Navy's part of the SIOP being to take out soviet ports,on account of professional associates doing business with each other. i would think the same principle would apply to most anti ship missions. that is "let the Navy handle that, we'll help with the ground war." All else fails, in game i prefere to go against the Soviet battle groups off Iceland with a pair of Buffs lugging SRAMs. tends to work without losing any of my own guys!
  25. frankly this is anything but (Easy Money) but i guess its a different perspective when your a (Jersey Girl)
