You mention squadrons used Wrench, brings up a questoon...... do DLCs have individual squdronlist inis to add specific units for that plane, or are they universal? If he added units for the A-4L, gonna hafta readjust my ini (now upto 855 entries!) Example of what i'm askin, patch aftrr the swedish birds and F-4EJ came out, swedish and japanese units popped up in the late 300 block of the squadronlist. I only have the Phantom skinpacks, Zipper AI pack and F-4N for DLC, so not as well versed in what the other DLCs have

Buy the DLC. And thats from a guy who's cheap and bashes most DLC as being better here for free at CA. Just for decm on the model (not fake pilot added.) And slotted stabs its worth it. Add my skin pack and you have every tactical user including skin for the Marine squadron that were tsked to provide top cover for Eagle Claw

Your choice. However the N is not upgraded to J standard. It was upgraded under project BEELINE to strengthen the airframes, make common many upgrades applied to parts of the fleet here and there, and in general refurbish wear and tear caused by combat flying in Nam. The S was actually a similar program to extend the life of the Js when Tomcats werent being delivered as fast as they wanted

The F-4N was still in use also, mainly Reserves but also with VF-151 and 161, as it handled better flying off the Midway. The Thud was still in use with Georgia ANG (Weasels) and a Reserve unit at Hill AFB ( D models) I seem to recall skin packs for TMFs A-7D, Thud in ANG use, and the DLC F-4N released recently..... More shameless plugging, you'll want Some Hercs for eye candy round the ramp too

IMHO, DCS and Falcon simulate how the wars against the export versions of WarPac equipment have gone. SF2 simulates how it was expected to go, how NATO trained for about 40 years -
USAF Unit Insignia Decals - Cold War era TFS View File this is a batch of squadron, wing and other patches i've used in the last year to enhance some of my mods. all are named for the unit they represent, names will likely have to be changed in your own mods to fit what you're doing. feel free to use them on skins or tga. as the title implies, these are Cold War era markings. where i could find and or as applies, they will say TACTICAL Fighter Squadron. these are not just knockoffs from Wikipedia's title page for the different units. no readme, if i have copied someone elses file and not credited please let me know. however i am 99.9% certain this is all me phishing Google images over the course of a year. Gonna release part one of a DC-10 pack soon, plus there are a couple of other airliners in Gen 1 section that could get updated. Thinking of making an airliner nation for them, but how to make it so they fly single ship or in a spaced out stream? A mass formation of Fed Ex bird will likely only be cool the first time you see it...........

Mixed formation F-4G and F-16?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
generally the Vipers would carry CBU, being the more manueverable platform, while the Phantoms would carry the HARMs. they had the abiltiy to reprogram in flight IIRC,while the Vipers would carry HARMs preset for specific threats if they carried. also IIRC the Weasels were flying escort for BUFFs towards the end when the threats were negligible and it was time to pound on the Republican Gaurd -
Mixed formation F-4G and F-16?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
the 52d TFW integrated F-4E (as killers) and F-4G (as hunters) into a super "Weasel Wing" in the 80's. when the E model was swapped for Vipers, the practice continued. the G was better at finding the threats (some would say still is) but was limited on ordinance esp if it carried the bags of gas needed for useful range/loiter time. the Viper could carry more HARMs or other ordinance and go kill what the Weasel found. -
