  1. also while not well versed in aerodynamics or FM's i do believe both of those aircraft have fixed inlets and therefore limited top speeds. with exception to the next generation bomber that is still in the designers brain pans, the worlds airforces seem to have traded max top speed for range, stealth, manueverability and precision capability(a2a and a2g). while it is fun in game to take the F-23 upto Mach 2.35 at 800 ft AGL it is not terribly realistic.(for those askin what im doin that for, ya then zoom to 101,000 ft , flip, dive and JDAM yer target like in Stealth. good times!)
  2. any word back from the big man Dave?
  3. ace888 Gimp is a good program for what you seem to want to do. I have used it to transfer the old USAF Green skin from Gen 1 to Gen 2. but as has been said earlier you will need to do a buncha comparision and cut and paste in it. also it will let you work with tga files that are used for decals. it will take time (i;ve been workin it for a year and just figured out how to work layers!) but is worth it esp for the price. oh and get the tutorial for Gimp dont be stubbborn with the trail and error like me:grin:
  4. interesting note marcfighters Mi-8, the SA-341 Gazelle from SF2 and Mi-24 i kitbashed from d/l here at CA all work good, only the Mi-8 seems to have slowed in the rotor a bit and looks really dark when looking at the ground thru the disc.
  5. i hate texting period, in proper english or modern abbreviated gibberish. only reason i willingly get text on a cell phone plan is because several people from work (junior and senior) can't say two words vocally, but can wear out a keypad texting. i say willingly beacause my wife thought it would be great to get me a phone with windows and internet neither of which i have used in 5 months of havin em. as to the kids, they will always find a way to speak around adults. my middle daughter was in spanish immersion for the 1st 3 years of school and she was teaching her sisters spanish to have conversations around my wife and i! if they cannot communicate anyother way than that text language then there are serious issues but if they can then they are talking round your head. and finally.... anyone wants to comment on my use of english in here tell me who ee cummings was first!
  6. next he'll say he read a Playboy for the articles!
  7. sorry no screenies realized afterwards i havent readjusted my screenshot button after installing EXP2. however of the props i currently have installed IL-10 and Pe-2 go square, Tempest II and V, Typhoon VB and A-26C all seem to act ok and Yak-9U just slowed down to where you can see the 3 props in the spinning disc. odd thing is the square prop doesn't come out except in high FPS situations tho once out it stays thru the flight. only got the Pe-2 to do it with extreme acrobatics right over the hardstand. weird
  8. IL-10 starts fine but goes square when action gets heavy, ie in flak or over enemy tanks. gonna try the P-51 fix on it and Tempests/Typhoon after dinner
  9. for IRM if you dont want to hit anything without being at 0.0 range go AIM-9B! also alot has to do with what your looking for in game play. i am quite sure that Erich Hartmann, Gunther Rall or Galland would call dogfighting fun. much like the Red Baron himself they would advise to come up behind while the enemy is unaware blast him where your weapons cant fail to kill him and get out of there macht schnell! personally i like air to mud with the option of self defense, it's why Phantoms are so phabulous! but if ya gotta turn and burn then go for props or Sabres and Mig-15. everything between there and the Teen Series fighters wasn't designed for dogfighting and if they could use BVR weapons the pilots of the era most certainly would have
  10. they can move fast tho when they wanna, like the time i say one take off right at the start of a mortar attack. heard later the tower told him to hold and the pilot said F@<* youuuuuu......................... and away they went.
  11. i don't know why but the first pic reminds me of something from Gumby!
  12. virtual L-39 costs SF2 19.99-24.99 USD depending on version at TW online store L-39 free at CA hours spent flying on your computer variable depending on mood of your signifigant other!
  13. never mind it was the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor! i have played three sims before WOE and SF2 series, Yeager Air Combat, IAF and at my buddy's room in the barracks i would sometimes play his copy of Commanche. the difference between what used to be and now is pretty amazing, esp thinking back to Yeager!
  14. far as i've been able to find all weather intercection in USAFE was handled by Dog Sabres. as for the CF-100 i thought i heard bout someone working on it like 8-9 months ago then story went cold. and for the NF Meteors, as well as Soviet prop Yaks those are outta reach for these purposes, tho again Pasko's Yak-9 is closer than a Spit if he is reachable and agreeable. for a 56 campaign upgrade tho the is quite a bit that can be used off the shelf (TW and CA/TMF) most would just need skins after the Korea release. even Berlin airlift is possible, just keep it early in the lift to minize the lack of C-54
  15. funny tactical take off for the week i was in Bagram was a Strike Eagle racin upto the top of the mountain. Kandahar was mostly European AF's(Dutch Viper, Mirage, GR7) in and out plus cargo so not so much hot doggin there. tho it did get intersting when the RAF Harrier force was swapped by the Marines!
  16. the Phantom holds the name Double Ugly due to its upturned wing and down turned tail. It is also known as the St Louis Slugger(home of McDonnel) the Rhino(self explainitory) and the worlds largest distributor of Mig parts. The F-4 wasn't designed to look good it was designed to do a job. However in something the function is the beauty.
  17. Erik this is the USG we're talking about. although a person is smarter than that, the US government will not let common sense get in the way of 234 years of tradition!
  18. told you not to buy that copy of Catcher in the Rye. haven't you watched Conspiracy Theory:lol:
  19. doin some research into what was avail. USAFE was mostly F-84F and F-86D/F at the time. also had B-57B in black and B-26B Invaders for light bomb wings. F-100A/C is concievable as stateside reinforcement but D was just gettin operational in September and Hungarian invasion was Oct thru Nov. as an interest poss RF-100A Slick Chick was operational starting in 55, until around mid 56. seems not much on F-89 or 94 and by 1956 F-80 and props were mostly phased out. B-45 played a role too (arrgh!) though mostly based in England. if there's any thoughts of doing a 48 Berlin Airlift gone hot bit may wanna look at Pasko's Yak-9 for Sov and Yak-3 for Poland and Czech. more to follow as i get time to read up.
  20. F-16C block 50/52 here in SF1 d/l section converts fairly well although you will have to disable the shadows and there is small white squares in the tailplane where the pivot is. otherwise it works fairly decent. but like many i am eagerly awaiting a professionally converted Viper. maybe 3 weeks on that one.
  21. yes sir all patched up for the moment. whole buncha commentary this weekend on the good and bad
  22. check ya PM and open the file Dave. done(with isreali's ) done(without isreali's) and done (with my Phantom Phlyer's!)
  23. Teen series didn't replace the Phantom, the young pups just stole the older mans job:rofl:
  24. why blasphemy?? McAir did studies on a Seagle variant, just wouldnt have worked as well as the Tomcat.
  25. no ideas i'm afraid. with out much messing to the stock install so far ran 3 antiship missions, one against kitty hawk, one against an essex class and one against 12 destroyers! they are royal pains to kill though (all of the above)
