The Marines operate Harrier IIs out of a FOB in Eastern Germany. -
I was 15 at the time. I was in school leaving my shop class when I heard 1 plane had crashed, and I'm not gonna lie, the thought of all that destruction was pretty awesome to watch. When I got to my classroom we watched after the 2nd one hit. I knew which events would soon follow that day, like choreography. That strange thing is that with all my 15 year old wisdom I had told my parents 2 days before that if I wanted to make an attack that would be hard to foresee and stop, then flying an airliner into a target would probably work. I was trying to emphasize that I saw people being very complacent with what they thought we had.

Erhm, but not me. Every time I saw it coming I was was thinking to myself "oh well, here come the sisters," and I knew I just had to wait it out and go through the script...."aye aye, sir....yada.........ok, those bastards are gone now." But as you know Dave, not cracking the nut always attracts the instructor's curiosity so they keep coming back at the challenge.

Yep, That's when you investigate your intel situation so you can know when ya got some especially capable baddies out there. It's no fun to assume you have -29s out there and are getting ready to fight a close range battle after the first 2 radar missiles, only to realize that you can expect 6 more to fly at ya!
-
Heh, just 3 years ago I went through that about every day.... It's nothing but really funny when you realize that it just looks like a bunch of idiots hollering out at ya. Ahhh.... memories and good times!

WWI explained as a bar fight.
exhausted replied to Ryan H's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
....Afterward Germany wakes up in a gutter behind the bar, and he is pissed off as hell. He vows to take it out on his neighbor, Poland. He hits Poland with his left fist and saves his dominate hand for France and the Low Countries. Germany swings and knocks France clean out, but in his follow through he clips Russia. Britain tries to deliver and as powerful blows as it can from a corner while Germany pummels through Russia. Though Russia and Germany both started to fight drunk, the fight's lasted so long that Russia is sobering up while Germany is continuing to tire. America comes up behind Germany while Russia is beating Germany back and kicks Germany in the kidneys. Russia follows Germany to the ground and delivers a knock out while Britain throws a beer glass at Germany. America reaches out to shake Russia's hand but ends up getting stared down instead.... Actually, Almaleki probably has a better understanding of the pending consequences of Desert Storm had the plan gone wrong and Israel not been able to control it's impulses. Shock and Awe definitely wouldn't have succeeded for long in that case. The political consequences of a long drawn out war in the Persian Gulf would have been an extremely displeased American public. The borders in the Persian Gulf would be smaller around Syria, Iran, and Iraq when it's over, but Israeli security would become an even worse burden on the USA. Don't forget the increase of forces we would have had to deploy to the region right during one of the climaxes of the Cold War.

Screw it man, arms Lebanon with nukes to keep Israel in check. That's the only reason Israel keeps screwing with them - because they can't fight back really.

Cool.

That's looking really good! Have you thought about sending that to the Il-2 modding crowd? It would surely make a decent splash there! Try www.sas1946.com or www.allaircraftsimulations.com Thanks! -

What unit of measurement do you use to make 272 equal 500 knots? -
Eh, being stationed in Arizona kind of sucks. Everywhere I see a political ad, all I see is what makes this state so sleazy...
-
It also is empty with a low fuel load...

That's actually the best pit for a MiG-17/19 conversion so far.... -
Never left the drawing board that we know of, that is.... It really looks like some Area 51 stuff...

I'm a fellow Civ player, but IV is my version. If I had models to give you then I'd give them all to you. Fellow CombatACE members, the Civ community has a lot in common with us: our love of history, our drive to know how stuff works, and war strategy. It is my sincere hope that people do not feel like their talents should only be shared with the Strike Fighters community. If you have models that you don't mind posting up to CA for free, then maybe you should consider them for Civilization.

Part of the struggle of making the A-105 (which it should really have been called) a fighter would be giving it a powerful enough engine with lower fuel consumption. This plane couldn't have strolled into N. Vietnam escorting B-52s with two ridiculously huge drop tanks, only to tangle and burn the rest of it's meager fuel supply. The kills the F-105 got almost always lead to nearly empty tanks. The F-105 might have been able to serve as an effective fighter if the following conditions were met: - Larger wings for low speed (below 300 kts) handling and larger fuel load - More fuel efficient engine

EDIT: I've rescinded ALL of my comment here, and I wish you a good night. With that said, I leave with you with this: When Marines start to get jumpy in a war, it may be time to pull out, cuz you ain't got nothing better out there....
