Top Gun A-4F 'Super Fox/ Mongoose' for Strike Fighters 2 (Mk.II) This an update and replacement of the A-4 Super Fox I have previously released: http://combatace.com...updated-270111/ HOWEVER, this mod uses the DLC A-4G as the base model as it is an F model Skyhawk but without the avionics hump which is what the Super Fox is. So this means if you don't have the DLC A-4G this will not work and you should stick to the previous version in the above link. If you do have the DLC A-4G delete the old Super Fox from your mods folder and use this one instead. This aircraft is the modified A-4 Super Fox/ Mongoose used as an Aggressor aircraft by the US Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) from 74 till 94. The Super Fox was the ultimate adversary Skyhawk as it was equipped with updated J52-P-408 engine giving 11,200 pounds of thrust. The Super Fox also had its avionics hump and associated equipment stripped reducing its weight and giving it an impressive, better than 1:1, thrust to weight ratio. Other modifications included the wing slats being bolted closed and removal of the cannons.I have retained the countermeasure dispensers as I couldn’t find any information indicating they were removed but with no ECM or RWR I would advise you to avoid being engaged at beyond visual range.Best way to enjoy this bird is to set up a guns only dogfight with the mission editor and go head to head with a few Tomcats. Additional Features: - 9 different Aggressor skins including US Navy and USMC versions. - Cannon barrels have been removed from the 3D model. However the cannons will still fire and I have modified the cannons to be more accurate and more reliable in an effort to more accurately simulate combat with an aggressor aircraft. By this I mean all you needed to do in real life was to get the 'enemy' aircraft in your gun sight and call "Guns kill" so jamming guns or inaccurate cannons weren't an issue so I've stoped it happening in the game. - Top Gun Pilot Skin INSTILLATION: 1, Delete previous A-4F_Super_Fox from your mods folder. 2, Drop the extracted files in to the appropriate folders. 3, If you have an extracted and modified NATIONS.INI file than add the following to it if you haven't already: (If you haven't, a modified NATIONS.INI file is included) [NationXXX] Name=AGRS DisplayName=Aggressors (Red) Alignment=ENEMY PlayerFlyable=TRUE Mercenary=FALSE PilotNameList=NamesUS.lst RankList=RanksUSAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=USFighter Formation.Attack=USFighter Formation.Bomber=USBomber Formation.Transport=USBomber Formation.Tank=USTank Formation.MobileAD=USAD PilotTrainingStandard=EXCELLENT GenderRatio=0 CampaignWinMusic= DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.cat Medals=MedalsUSAF.ini MedalTextFile=MedalsUSAF.str Mod Has only been tested/used in a merged install of ALL SF2 titles with the DLC A-4G installed. Third Wire DLC A-4G available here: https://store.thirdw...e_dlc.htm Credit goes to column5 for their A-4E Super Echo which gave me the idea and various skins which I updated to work in SF2. Enjoy, Dan. -

A-4 Gun Barrel Model Node Name/ Parent Component Name?
dtmdragon replied to dtmdragon's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
That worked a treat removing the gun barrels from the stock A-4G/E but it didn't work on the 'A-4H Ahit 73' any idea what the node names are for that one? (Need it for an ATSI A-4N Aggressor) -
A-4 Gun Barrel Model Node Name/ Parent Component Name?

Thanks mate -
There in the SF1 section somewhere but I am in the process of updating them for the SF2 model Skyhawk as it has slightly different texture mapping than the SF1 version. I already have done a A-4F Super Fox for SF2 with a few aggressor skins: http://combatace.com/files/file/11597-top-gun-a-4f-super-fox-for-strike-fighters-2-updated-270111/ I plan to add these skins and have an alternate version for those with the DLC A-4G as it is the right 3D model, how ever the stock A-4E 3D model with the angled refuelling probe I have already used is 99.9% accurate.

I've been busy updated all the A-4 Aggressor SF1 skins I can find for my SF2 A-4F Super Fox/ Mongoose. I've also switched the 3D model from the A-4E to the DLC A-4G which is externally 100% accurate as the G model was the F model without the avionics hump, which is exactly what the A-4F Super Fox /Mongoose is (plus the more powerful engine and stripped out avionics etc). I love how nimble and quick this stripped out and over powered little A-4 can be -it must have been a true 'sports car of the sky' to fly in real life. Here is a link to a bit of a description on flying and fighting with it at Top Gun: http://a4skyhawk.org...se-superfox.htm The last image is the stock Ausie Navy camo with the blue colour levels enhanced.

Try cycling through the visual ground targets in the 'padlock view' (F4 key), that way you will look at each target you select -so when you’re looking at the target you want your wing man to attack use the 'attack my target' command

You might want to consider creating some year specific aircraft to include the modernisation programs the CF-188 went through in recent years. Personally I have split it into three separate aircraft: ‘AircraftFullName=CF-18 Hornet’ -which is the initial aircraft and covers the period from delivery up till 2006. ‘AircraftFullName=CF-18 Hornet IMP Phase I (03)’ -Which replaces the AN/APG-65 radar with the AN/APG-73 radar (you can use the avionics from the 'C' model Hornet for this), ability to use JDAMs and AMRAAMs. This covers the period from 2003 to 2007 ‘AircraftFullName=CF-18 Hornet IMP Phase II (07)’ – Integration of the Joint Hemet Mounted Cuing System, ability to carry the Sniper XR targeting pod and an upgrade of the aircrafts ECM jammers. This aircraft covers the period from 2007 till 2017+. There are overlaps in the operational dates due to the time each upgrade program took to do the entire fleet of hornets. If you interested in including these later upgraded versions let me know and I’ll email a copy of mine to you. The mod I used as the base for all these versions is the CF-18 that came with the SF2 NATO fighters mod. CF-18 Hornet IMP Phase II (07) Over Lybia in 2011:

Converting F-4 radar scope to DSCG style
dtmdragon replied to nabele68's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
The radar backgrounds did more than just give it a worn look, they changed the whole look and shape to what it should be for the DSCG system but it's up to you. I haven't been able to fix the other issues unfortunately... -
Converting F-4 radar scope to DSCG style
dtmdragon replied to nabele68's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
Here is the mod updated to SF2 standards for you to test. In the read me is says he wasn't able to deactivate the lookdown shootdown capability of the radar but from what I can figure out from the net this radar had a limited lookdown ability anyway? EDIT: Still trying to figure out a way to get the roll tabs on the gun sight to show up with an air-to-air missile or air-to-ground weapon selected.... F-4E_Kurnass_73.7z -
Converting F-4 radar scope to DSCG style
dtmdragon replied to nabele68's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
I wouldn't mind having a crack at it, personally I find the Kurnass one of the most SF2 aircraft interesting to fly. Do you have any reference info, details or web sites about the Digital Scan Converter Group radar scope and AN/APQ-120 as they were used on the Kurnass?
