Avro Vulcan B.2 Skin Pack
dtmdragon replied to paulopanz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Here is an update approved by Paulopanz that adds a fuselage missile station for the Blue Steel nuclear missile. Included is the Blue Steel missile which you will need as it is a station specific weapon. Just un-zip and drop into your mods folder and let it over-ride the old data.ini files. Cheers, Dan. Gun kill by a Kiwi A-4K Skyhawk on an Indonesian F-16A during a fighter sweep over East Timor during INTERFET operations in 1999, his wingman nearly took me out with a sidewinder straight afterwards thanks to the great job my wingman did of watching my six lol -
Cheers guys. An updated Mirage Factory F-16A Block 15 OCU model is in the works so I've been asked not to release this but I probably will when the new F-16 is out. Here is a couple of Kiwi F-16 fighters conducting CAS near Kandahar in 2004/05 their weapons load is based on what the RNZAF had in its inventory and what RAF CAS Harrier pairs were using around that time. Iv'e put a targeting pod and two GBU-16 1000Ib laser guided bombs on one aircraft and a Targeting pod, two air burst Mk.82 Snakeye's (set to 4.572m) plus a LAU-3 rocket pod on the other aircraft.

Cheers guys, to be honest these F-16 are a mix match between the best parts of all the F-16 mods available with a few new/modified/enhanced skins of my own. Iv'e also re written most of the data .ini and avionics.ini files with updated data from the net especially when it comes to the performance of the radar after the MLU update. In terms of the game their broken down into 4 specific aircraft: -AircraftFullName=F-16A Blk 15 OCU RNZAF (What if?) -AircraftFullName=F-16B Blk 15 OCU RNZAF (What if?) -AircraftFullName=F-16AM Blk 15 MLU RNZAF (What if?) -AircraftFullName=F-16BM Blk 15 MLU RNZAF (What if?) I gave the A models the serial numbers NZ6301 through to NZ6313 and the B models NZ6314 through to NZ6322

When doing sum research about the proposed Kahu II upgade for the RNZAF A-4K fleet I found some good info on the New Zealand F-16 deal that nearly was in the late 1990s/early 2000s. I decided to make as accurate 'what if' version I could. Ive used the Mirage factory F-16A/B Block 15 OCU model which is the version we would have received as they were built for Pakistan but embargoed and put in storage. I added a A-4K style UHF antenna just behind the refueling receptical. I've left the weapons the same as used by the upgraded A-4K fleet except for the addition of the Litening targeting pod and Harpoon ASM which were going to be procured along side the aircraft. Since the RNZAFs primary role is close air support it was unlikely any extra money was going to be spent on any radar guided missile such as the AIM-120 as their air-to-air role was seen as one of primarily self defence. The terms of the deal included a Mid Life Upgrade at the end of the 10 year lease period when we would have purchased the aircraft. As part of the MLU I have included the integration of the AIM-9X as it stands to reason that the RNZAFs AIM-9L models would have been considered to be going out of date by 2009. Also on the MLU aircraft are ALQ-131 ECM pods which there were provisions for in the original terms of the lease but most likely would have been pushed out to the time of the MLU because of the extra costs. F-16A Block 15 OCU in the Pakistani camouflage scheme the aircraft were already painted in: All over grey paint job that is used on all current RNZAF aircraft since around 2003: F-16B Block 15 OCU: High- viz No. 75 Squadron Commanding Officers mount: F-16AM Block 15 OCU (After the Mid Life Upgrade 2009/10ish) Small 'M" on the top of the tail fin and 'F-16 Viper' logo on the intake are to differentiate the MLU aircraft from the un-upgraded aircraft during the upgrading phase. Pilot also now has Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) to go with the AIM-9X: Retro A-4K Skyhawk all over green paint job: High- viz No. 75 Squadron Commanding Officers mount: Pylon Intergrated Dispensing System (PIDS) included as part of the MLU: F-16BM Block 15 OCU- This is the first of the MLU aircraft and is in a special paint scheme: F-16BM Block 15 OCU line bird: F-16BM Block 15 OCU in special All Blacks supporters scheme for the 2011 Rugby World Cup- which we won might I add Spinners if your reading this lol F-16BM Block 15 OCU in A-4K style SEA retro scheme: F-16A/B Block 15 OCU cockpit: And F-16AM/BM Block 15 OCU cockpit after the Mid Life Upgrade:

Before New Zealand signed and subsequently cancelled the F-16 deal in the late 1990's/ early 2000's and then got rid of its air combat wing all together, the original plan for the RNZAF Skyhawks was for them to be in service till replacement around 2007-09. A second upgrade was planned for around the year 2000 to keep their teeth sharp until replacment. The Kahu II program would have added a GPS navigation system, long range anti ship missiles (most likely the Harpoon), a laser targeting pod (the Litening pod had been chosen) and the ejection seats were going to be replaced with rebuilt UPCO/Stencil SIIIS-3ER seats as used in the A-7. The signing of the F-16 deal meant the Kahu II project was not need, however it was briefly reinstated when the F-16 deal was cancelled before the new governments intentions to completely scrap the air combat wing become apparent. Stencil SIIIS-3ER seats and Harpoon ASM: Litening targeting pod and GBU-16, I have seen photos of Kiwi Skyhawks with 3 Mk83 bombs on a TER on the center station so I cant see why 3 GBU-16 couldn't be carried there as well: And who knows maybe If they had had the upgrade and a National Government was still in power they might have even ended up in Afghanistan: (Hay look a flying pig....)

Unit: No. 1 Squadron Royal Australian Airforce Mission: Strike against Doshan Tappeh AB (TAB12) Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F) Target: Runway Flight departed Kuwait International at 0641 Local time. Flight approached the target from the east. 4x AGM-145C-1 JSOW were launched at the runway from maximum range and destroyed the runway. The strike element then conducted SEAD around the air base. 2x Iranian F-5A Freedom Fighters were detected to the north by the flight leader and escorting section. Both F-5A fighters were quickly engaged and destroyed. Immediately after the destruction of the two F-5A 4x F-14A Tomcats engaged the entire flight by surprise in what become a large furball. SAM sites around the airbase took also this opportunity to turn on thier radars and engage us with radar and heat seeking surface to air missiles. The exact sequence of events is somewhat lost in the confustion but the superior manouverability and weapons of the Super Hornets gave us the edge and resulted in the four F-14A Tomcats being destroyed with no losses. However this was by no means an easy victory both sides launched a multitude of air-to-air missiles and engaged each other with cannon fire at very close range during the dog fight. During the SEAD 1x Hawk CWAR, 5x Tor-M1 SAM lauchers, 3x ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA vehicles were destroyed. During a straifing attack which destroyed 1x Saeqeh(“thunderbolt”) Fighter F/A-18F Block II Super Hornet A44-202 was hit and damaged by a MIM-23A Hawk SAM. Aircraft made it back to Kuwait International safly but will require a entirely new engine. Spare engine will leave Australia via a RAAF C-17 in the next 12 hours. Intell: -No less than 7x MIM-23A Hawk SAMs fired during our attack all but 1 were defeated with ECM, chaff and spoofing/ manovering. -No less than 52x SA-15 Gauntlet SAMs were fired from Tor-M1 launchers during our attack, as with previous engagements all were easily defeated with ECM, chaff and spoofing/ manovering. -The amount of air defence represents a high threat that should be followed up on with further SEAD operations.

Unit: No. 1 Squadron Royal Australian Airforce Mission: Strike against Tehran Command and Control Network Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F) Target: Government Office Buildings Flight departed Kuwait International at 2008 Local time. Flight approached the target from the east to break from previous attack patterns from the south. As the flight neared the launch point of its stand off weapons our RWR were lit up by an unknown air threat. Flight two consisting of FORD 2-1 and FORD 2-2 were ordered to engage the air threats while the rest of the flight continued on towards Tehran to attack the Government Office Buildings. FORD 2-1 engaged and destroyed the lead enemy fighter with an AIM-120C7. A second AIM-120C7 fired by FORD 2-1 damaged the second enemy aircraft which was identified as a J-10A, a third AIM-120C7 was fired and destroyed the damaged J-10A. Meanwhile the rest of the flight destroyed the primary target with 2x AGM-145C-1 JSOW. A second government Office Building was destroyed as a target of opportunity by an AGM-65G. 4x Tor-M1, 1x ZSU-23-4Shilka AAA, 2x Hawk CWAR and 1x Hawk PAR were destroyed by the rest of the strike force conducting SEAD over Tehran. An additional 1x Tor-M1 was damaged. A Civilian Grain Mill was accidently destroyed as collateral damage by 20mmM61A1 Vulcan fire. Unit: No. 1 Squadron Royal Australian Airforce Mission: Strike against Ghale Morghi AB (TAB11) outside Teharn Assets: 2 x Strike Aircraft (RAAF F/A-18F) and 6 x Escort/SEAD (RAAF F/A-18F) Target: Runway Flight departed Kuwait International at 1334 Local time. Radar emission and jamming were keept to a minimum during the ingress and no threats were encountered enroute to target. 2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW were fired at the target as soon as the flight cleared the mountain range to the south of the target. Both weapons struck and severely cratered the runway, effectively destroying it. The Flight then started to engaged air defence targets around the airbase destroying 1x ZSU-23 Shilka AAA vehicle and Hawk CWAR. However before any additional ground targets could be engaged Red Crown warned of bandits approaching from the North West. Four Iranian F-4E Phantom II fighters were picked up on radar and engaged at BVR with AIM-120C7 missiles. Two F-4E fighters were destroyed before the merge with AMRAAMs and another with an AIM-9X after a brief one sided dogfight. At this point our RWR were lit up by two Iranian F-14A Tomcats. The engagement immediately shifted from the remaining F-4E (that was trying to bug) out to the Higher threat F-14A Tomcats. As Plt Off Clare fired an AIM-120C7 at one of the Tomcats he was fired on with no less than two AIM-54 missiles! Fortunately Plt Off Clare was able to 'spoof' the missiles and at the same time return fire with multiple AMRAAMs which destroyed the attacking F-14A. The remaining F-14A and F-4E both attempted to bug out in different directions however Plt Off Mccarthy and Plt Off Simmonds were both in a position to bracket the remaining F-14A from above and destroyed it an AIM-9X from each aircraft after a brief chase. With the air threats neutralised the flight regrouped and made a single attack run on targets of opportunity around Ghale Morghi AB before heading home. An additional 3x Hawk CWAR, 2x ZSU-23 Shilka AAA vehicles & 1x M35A2 Truck were destroyed. During this final attack A44-208 flown by Flt Lt Betherton was hit and suffered engine damage from a 0.50 calibre machine gun but was able to return safetly. Air-to-Ground Kills: -Runway by Plt Off McCarthy with 2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW -ZSU-23 Shilka AAA vehicle by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x AGM-65G -Hawk CWAR by Plt Off Hillary with 1x GBU-12E/B Paveway IV -Hawk CWAR by Plt Off Hillary with 1x GBU-38(V)3/B JDAM -ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA by Plt Off Hillary with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA by Flt Lt Betherton with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon -M35A2 Truck by Plt Off Clare with 20mm M61A1 Vulcan Cannon Ait-to-Air Kills: -F-4E Phantom II by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x AIM-120C7 -F-4E Phantom II by Plt Off McCarthy with 1x AIM-9X -F-4E Phantom II by Plt Off Simmonds with 1x AIM-120C7 -F-14A Tomcat by Plt Off Clare with 2x AIM-120C7 -F-14A Tomcat by Plt Off Simmonds & Plt Off McCarthy with 1x AIM-9X each Losses/Damage: -F/A-18F Block II Super Hornet A44-208 suffered minor damage to starboard engine compressor blades from 0.50 calibre machine gun rounds. Will be repaired within 48 hours. Intell: -Iranian Airforce still has an unknown number of serviceable AIM-54 Phenix missiles. The Missiles are believed to be early models and appear to be effectively countered by modern ECM equipment. -2x AGM-154C-1 JSOW were fired and failed to track their target. This is believed to be because the launching aircraft was outside the firing limits of the weapon- ALL pilots must ensure they are within the launch parameters of the weapon they are attempting to deploy to avoid collateral damage. -No less than 6x SA-15 Gauntlet SAM missiles were fired from Tor-M1 launchers during our second attack on Gale Morgi AB, all were easily defeated with ECM, chaff and spoofing/ manovering. -Iranian Pilots appear inexperienced and undisciplined, F-4E pilots displayed no skill in interception or ACM tactics and were unable to achieve a firing solution or employ any air-to-air weapons.

*********************How to use the same pilot names mission after mission and have them show up in your after action reports.********************** 1, Extract the 'NAMESxxxx.LST file that your nation uses (you can see which one by looking in the NATIONS.INI file). 2, Delete all the names in the file exept for A; the amount of pilots in a squadron which is roughly 1.5 times the number of aircraft, or B; the amount of aircraft in your squadron if you want the same pilots flying all the time. There are two or three sections to the list: '[LastNames]', [MaleFirstNames]' and '[FemaleFirstNames]' You should have the same amount of names in the [LastNames] section as the [MaleFirstNames] and [FemaleFirstNames] combined (a lot of names.lst files have no female first names so you can have what ever number from each gender you want). 3, Put the file in your mods folder in the 'Flight' folder Every time you create a single mission the game engine randomly pairs a name from the [LastNames] section to one from the [MaleFirstNames] section or, if filled out, the [FemaleFirstNames] section. By limiting the names in the file to the number of pilots in your squadron you limit the names the game can chose from. In the roster screen you can pair the same pilot with a particular airframe. The last names will be probably be paired with a different first name each time you create a different single mission but since only the last names show up in the debrief screen that we are posting in the forum you should get a continuity of names and maybe create some aces *************EDIT:************* An alternative (which I think is better) is to replace the names in the [LastNames] section with a first and last name. Then replace the [MaleFirstNames] with the initials of your air force in brackets e.g. (RAAF), (RAF), (USAF) etc. You will need to have the same number of airforce initials as names in the [LastNames] section. By doing this you will avoid the issue of different matches of first and last names. Pilot names in game will appear as: "Plt Off (RAAF) Joe Smith" in the roster screen and as "Plt Off Joe Smith" in the debriefing screen. Dan. -

*********UPDATED template with J-10 added************************************************************************************************* *********UPDATED template with fixed Foxhound and a set of weapons at an angle like in EricJ's screen shots below ******************* If anyone's interested I've figured out away to add mission markings to a specific airframe. What I've done is created a set of blank numbered decals 'mmnum000.tga' through to 'mmnum024.tga' that basically act as serial numbers. The first one has kill markings on it as an example. Also included is a template with all sorts of kill and weapon markings on it. You will need to be comftable editing and placing decals to do this: Add the marking to the decals.ini file of your aircraft, you will need to figure out and use the correct coordinates for your aircraft as well as the appropriate mesh name. I've included mine from the F/A-18F as an example: [Decal027] MeshName=FwdFuselage DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=Left FilenameFormat=OpDarMissionMarkings\MMnum Position=5.9,0.30 Scale=0.95 DecalMaxLOD=3 After you fly a mission the Debriefing screens will tell you what pilots used what weapons and who shot down what. In the Roster screen each pilot is assigned a specific airframe. So now you can open the mmnumxxx.tga file that corresponds to that aircraft with a paint program and copy & paste the appropriate kill/weapon marking onto the decal. The mmnum.tga decals will match up with the corresponding serial number in the sequence e.g. mmnum003 will show up on the aircraft that uses the usnum003 serial number decal, which will be the fourth airframe listed in the numbers.lst file in the skin folder (003 is the fourth one because the decal numbering starts at 000). Now when ever that particular airframe fly's a mission it will have the kill/mission markings on it. This sounds complicated but it isn't lol and it may be to much effort to be worth it but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. MissionMarkings.7z updated template.7z
