    Been Out

Thinking back to the E-9's that I knew in the Corps, most would just barely tolerate any rank below Lt/Col. Sorry would be the 2nd or 1st Lieuy that got in their way. Most guys look at their Dad's like their made of iron. It's tough to see them sick. I hope all goes well with him.
  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you have many, many more. I kind of remember when I was 19. I had 3 things on my mind:flying, girls and cars. Not necessarily in that order(raging hormones often prevailed).
  3. Yahoo! Sports Experts Bob Arum refuses Pacquiao-Bradley rematch, wants investigation into scoring controversy. Here is the latest headline for that fiasco! Arum is the promoter and he doesn't believe the scoring. He wants Nevada AttyGen to investigate the fight.
  4. Here's a couple links with data and pics. www.steelnavy.com/essex_data.htm www.fineartmodels.com/fineartmodels.com/Essex_Class.html The models are real models, but they show really good detail.
  5. According to the websites I looked at,the F-15E can be configured to carry the AGM-88. The USAF does not want to put that aircraft in that precarious position. It has the F-16 (block 50-52) configured for the SEAD role. It uses that aircraft in conjunction with the F-15E for air to ground strike missions in high SAM/AAA threat environments.

    Back up

OOOOHHHHRRRRAAAAHHHH!!!! as they say in the Corps when things finally go right. Many,Many Thanks to all who worked hard to resolve the problem. Congrats to you,Stary! I am also finished with SimHQ! I took the link off my machine. Almost everyone chipped in when AvSim got hacked. I guess the Trolls at SimHQ don't believe in helping out.
  8. OOOHHHRRRAAAHHH!!! The Judge says it all. 'Nuff said!
  9. They need to get the controllers that handle Oshkosh every year. Those guys are amazing!
  10. I'd like to see that interview. When he starts asking the 'Big Man' upstairs those thought provoking questions. A great journalist! There aren't many left, anymore. RIP!
  11. I agree, I mean I know its rough being a Lions fan but being a Cubs fan? I would rather get genital warts. Hey guys: A little slack for us die hard Cub fans. It's been over a hunert years. OH,I Never had the warts. Staubach to Drew Pearson. A thing of beauty(The Hail Mary). Plus, they also had Bob Hayes(The fastest man alive,at the time)as the other wide receiver. The only thing wrong with the Cowboys now is the owner. He still thinks he's smarter about football than any coach or GM. He's definitely NOT! As for Rhuzio and Stiglr: I hope their assh*l*s grow shut!
  12. 55: That makes you an official SENIOR CITIZEN!! You can start eating dinner at 4:30-5:00 with all the rest of the bald heads, white hairs and blue hairs. Order off of the SENIOR's menu, don't forget the discount. AAANNNDDD:Don't forget the doctors appointment to get your Viagra. HAVE A GREAT DAY,Kev! You deserve it.
  13. "Don't call me,Shirley." Great flick!!! A true classic!
  14. WTF! What's next,a Legion of Merit for keeping the chow line moving. Oh,that's right. That's only for O-5's and above. I'm with Dave: She must have been servicing more than paychecks. What a crock! That means that the minimum combat award should be a Silver Star.
  15. A few more: "I'll take the fat chick." "It's my turn to buy a round." "You many motor drivers are the best!" "No,seriously, you don't need to take my picture." "Sure, you can borrow my shades anytime." If you have known or know any fighter drivers, you know none of these are true. ezlead Former Attack Driver

    Holy Frak!

Hey Dave: You are no longer "wet behind the ears",running around in short pants or too young to know better. It's the big FOUR OHHH! Have a GREAT day. Cold beer and pulled pork samiches for everyone. A couple shots of Crown Royal washed down with some Miller Genuine are in order since you are now an official ol' timer.

    For Stary.

    Looks like "JackAsski,The Movie"
  18. Which F-18? By whom? What are you using for engine control? Joystick throttle or keyboard. Check Keyboard commands or joystick throttle in options menu at beginning of game. Check joystick calibration. I had a stick that I had to calibrate everyday because I turned my computer off at night.
  19. That's the best explanation of armed force I have ever heard. Thanks for sharing it. exhausted: You Served!! That serving in itself is enough to be proud of. Veteran-(definition):A veteran is a person who made out a blank check payable to the United States of America(or whatever country you served)for the amount of "up to and including my life" to be cashed at any time.
  20. OOOHHHRRRAAAHHH,lady. Right on the money!
  21. Sounds like a good time for Argentina to take back the Falklands. I suppose The US Marines could lease the Royal Navy a carrier and some Harriers. Of course,The world being such a safe place, the politicians don't see a need for anything like that. Let's cut defense spending, not my pet projects. When is Britain going to learn from several times in history that a strong military not long winded politicians save you from being taken over.
  22. Fascinating discussion gentlemen! FC as usual you are a vast wealth of knowledge. IMHO too much automation was part of the problem. I can see the need for less crew workload, but is too much emphasis put on the computers. Even with an all glass instrument panel,do you have the good old needle, ball, airspeed(AOA) and altimeter to give you correct readings? Back when I was trained in the 70's(US Navy flight school) we were trained in "partial panel". Normal flight and emergencies were learned flying this way. When all else is haywire,go to the backup gauges. If you're nose high, full power and still going down,we were trained to drop the nose. Watch the altimeter,it will slow down, then very carefully raise the nose until the altimeter stops. If you're not alone(in formation or more than one seat aircraft) and you experience vertigo,TELL SOMEONE. They can talk you out of it while you are on the gauges. The 'leans' is a very unnerving thing when in the clag. My instructor afterward told me"Always raise the nose to avoid a bird strike" I pushed nose down once and took a buzzard through the front side window of a TA-4j. The instructor was in the back seat covered with buzzard parts and feathers. It took him almost an hour to get around to this part of the debrief. Yes,I had no A$$ left when he was done. Great discussion! It's unfortunate that many of the lessons learned in aviation have to come from accidents.
  23. If you're gonna fly a fighter, you better learn to use rudder. All Attack pilots and Fighter pilots use rudder to help the turn(roll) rate. You will notice that on all more modern jet attack and fighter aircraft the rudder/rudders are above the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. Instead of a severe yaw,you get a yaw with a roll.
  24. In the campaign.ini you find the UnitID=?. In the campaigndata.ini you will find the [AirUnit00?]at the top of each squadron. The UnitID number should be the same as the AirUnit number. You can change the numbers, but I believe that you have to keep the[AirUnit00?]numbers in numerical order as you go down the page of the campaigndata.ini. AirUnit001,AirUnit002,.......AirUnit069 with no gaps in numbering or you will have trouble loading the campaign.
  25. I have edited a few .STR files with a hex editor. It usually works out. I got lots of practice by editing EAW files in the old days. HOWEVER!!! As Mister WRENCH says "Always, repeat Always back up your work by keeping a copy of the original somewhere else just in case it doesn't." You can then delete the messed up file and put the original back. This sage advice has saved me several total re-installs.
