  1. Indeed, bizarre is the right word. Windows likes to complicate things with strange issues, and SF2's mod system is also rather antiquated to deal with. Well, I'm glad it now works on your end! Be sure to tweak graphics options to your likings, and remember that the mod is much heavier on resources than stock SF2 (due to high poly 3d models, 2k textures, high quality sounds, tons of new effects, and so on).
  2. It's right to be so! Once the executable is run for the first time, it adds relevant data to the Options.ini (including the mod's path) and version.ini files. I cannot add those arbitrarily, because they depend on each user's system. It's just another SF2 executable with different name, it works the same! If the Options.ini has no such info, it means the executable is looking into another Saved Games subfolder. You definitely have another OperationDesertStorm folder somewhere else, and that one is automatically created by the executable, hence it's empty and brings up vanilla SF2. I already proposed a solution in my previous post for this. Do not overthink it. Again, that Module data is not necessary, it's right to be so.
  3. The installer automatically installs the mod folder in the Saved Games folder of your Windows OS. It works just like usual SF2 mod folders. If it brings up vanilla SF2, it means it's looking at the wrong path/disk letter, and creates an empty OperationDesertStorm mod folder where it's meant to be. Find the real mod folder (it should be 15GB or so in size), open the Options.ini file and check the path it references. The guy you quoted actually solved it, this is his message: Hopefully this is your case, and it's just a matter of moving the mod folder in its entirety where it should be. I have no clue as to why this happens and I cannot debug such occurrences since I cannot replicate them on my end where it all works fine. I believe this is more an issue with Windows itself, because the installer should point to the real Saved Games folder. If another one is created, it could be due to issues gently offered by MS.
  4. Of course you can. You probably missed my nations expansion package which fixes stock SF2 bugs with few nations and adds missing ones. If you wish to edit start and end dates, it's all clear and open inside the global nations.ini file.
  5. Mod package has been updated to Version 1.3; worthy improvements and additions, read the change log for further details.
  6. Previous version apparently allowed it. I just noticed this is no longer the case for the latest installer. All I can suggest at this stage is that you remove Strike Fighters 2 fully with Revo Uninstaller, so that all registry keys of SF2 are removed. A clean installation on the SSD should work okay then, the ODS installer would find the new SF2 folder automatically. I will try to update the package with a corrected installer in the coming days if possible.
  7. It seems your operating system has no priviliged access to the folder where you have installed SF2. Make sure to point the installation path to your newly installed SF2 directory (thus on your SSD). Try to execute the ODS installer as administrator in your Windows OS, and make sure that any anti-virus software you may have is not interfering with the installer itself. I cannot think of anything else, a hundred of users had no issues with the installer, it appears to be working as intended.
  8. Nothing to do with our mod, nor with Strike Fighters 2. The faulting module is part of the Nvidia drivers, so it's most likely an issue with Nvidia video drivers. Reinstall and/or update Nvidia drivers to the latest version. My system is an incredibly old Pentium Dual-Core 2.7 GHz, with a low-end Nvidia GeForce 710. No crashes ever experienced on my end, just very long loading times on Unlimited settings. The mod itself is incredibly stable; it was tested rather extensively, we do our best not to release anything broken. Any crashes are mostly dependant on the system of the end-user. Use third-party softwares such as Driver Booster to keep hardware drivers updated.
  9. The F-15E is tasked with defensive CAS over that staging base, so they aim at the Iraqi forces. If they hit a friendly target, nothing we can do. In the bigger picture, I think there are more important things to worry about.
  10. @torno Indeed, that is frustrating. Now we know for a fact there is a limit, you've just hit it, it seems. Your best chance is to remove entries to specific tiles for inland areas and use more generic ones where possible. That way you could find space for coastline tiles which are a must to the impressive work you're doing.
  11. There is no known limit other than the hardware limitations of our computers. The more tiles you add, the more video card memory is required, loading times become longer and terrains with too many tiles can be problematic when you also load dozens of custom aircraft with 4k textures.
  12. Thanks to you for playing it! We worked hard on the whole package, to find a compromise and a balance between quality and performance. We're glad to have achieved it.
  13. The most comprehensive Gulf War package has been updated to version 0.9.5! Be sure to read the official announcement here: Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition - v0.9.5 Announcement NOTE: If you have the previous 0.9.0 version installed, please use the uninstaller to remove it completely. Clean installation is mandatory for version 0.9.5. You might want to make a backup of the Controls folder, so that you can easily restore your controller settings afterwards.
  14. I'm proud to announce the second official release of Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition, now reaching version 0.9.5. Six months have passed since the first release (v0.9.0) of January 16th 2021, six months in which the development team did not rest, producing a wealth of tweaks, bug fixes and exclusive, brand new additions to this comprehensive package. Unwanted bugs found their way in the January release, due to time constraints and the team wanting to meet the deadline in time for the 30th anniversary of this historic operation. Now we offer a much more refined and expanded experience, with quality of life improvements and welcome bonuses. Be sure to read the massive (albeit summarized) change log (Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition - Early Access) to learn more about all of the efforts that went into this new release. The package is free for download to all official Modders and Subscribers of the site. Those whose 2021 6-month subscription plans expired have been granted access to the package at no extra cost. Users who acquired the mod via a 1-month subscription plan will have to renew it for access to this brand new release. CombatACE.com admins thank you for your support towards the monthly costs of the site.

I've heard there are bad fires in some parts of Turkey. I hope you're safe and away from them. It's great to see your interest on the M-84 tank I requested for the ODS 30AE total conversion mod. Kuwait only had a handful of them back then, still they are a worthy addition for this Gulf War anthology we've been working on for some 15 months. This Autumn I'm sure the ODS team will work on even greater things. It's my pleasure and privilege to be working with you, guys!
  16. Helicopters are going to be removed with the upcoming re-release of ODS 30AE. The previous release included them with countless bugs. A helo add-on is currently worked on for a future release, @guuruu has developed numerous work-arounds/formulas in order to get very decent flight models. That being said, the Strike Fighters 2 game engine does not support helicopters at all, they are treated as fixed-wing aircraft, so they take-off from runways and so on. Helicopter fans should look elsewhere for a helo game or simulator. Helo add-ons can be enjoyable within SF2 to an extent, but I would never recommend Strike Fighters for helicopters.
  17. @Icarus999 My answer to your question posted here: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/91363-strike-fighters-2-screenshots-thread/?page=117&tab=comments#comment-787626 Those NL terrains are just like common Strike Fighter terrains, they use the same tile based system. In theory, one could create custom TODs for each tileset, thus adding trees and buildings. However, given the lack of a proper tool for TOD creation (TW's Terrain Editor is a mess to work with) and due to these terrains featuring hundreds of custom tiles (maybe a thousand or more in total), TODs for them are out of question at this stage.
  18. @GKABS Enjoy the vacation, you deserve it! Thank you so much for this last addition, it will be added soon in time for the next release of ODS.
  19. Correction; those terrains were converted by gerwin, I just took design decisions on matters such as target areas, terrain surroundings, water maps, etc. Mandatory screen;
  20. @Wrench I'm so sorry to hear that. No worries, health comes first. Wish your family a full recovery and brighter days ahead.
  21. Just for fun, someone suggested Boeing sold the data of the X-32 to Russia. I find it so amusing if only it were true. Indeed the front intake gives smiley X-32 vibes.
  22. As far as I know, formation types for ships are only meant for cargo ships (ShipConvoy) and patrol boats, both types are used as random target objects during anti-ship missions. Warships such as Frigates have no formation type assigned, it's the game that automatically creates naval fleets depending on the terrain's nature (NavalMap=TRUE) and on the terrain's nations list. If you use the Mission Editor, you must go to the other tab which lets you create a naval fleet instead (it's that button with an aircraft carrier and other ships around).
  23. AFAIK there's no simple, single balloon object available, apart from the stock ones included with First Eagles. In the FE download section you'll find airships and Zeppelins by Stephen1918, they are much bigger than common balloons. It would be cool to have a simple balloon object for use as a target in training, or as observation balloons. Gepard's 3d model is good for the environment, but you cannot destroy each single balloon in it, as they are all part of the same 3d model. @Wrench We have a discussion on the matter in the restricted ODS forum, namely about FE2's stock balloon objects. I'd like to hear from you about it, see you there!
