  1. Buon anno!
  2. A hotfix has just been uploaded, it is available at the end of the mod's description page. Manual installation knowledge is required.
  3. Whichever one Gepard will choose in the end, I will always be grateful. Many end-users underestimate the amount of work that is required to create a quality terrain addon. As a terrain modder myself, I know of all the time and efforts required to make one with detail, especially from scratch. It's no easy feat, it's a very long process that can be easily exhausting sometimes. If I'd have to choose, I'd say Diego Garcia. It would be a very original addition, with a tileset made entirely from satellite imagery, much like the Midway Atoll terrain I was working on. That kind of texture work pays off in the terrain engine of Strike Fighters. I wish all modders of CombatACE a productive and happy 2022!
  4. Then you should avoid Unlimited and use Medium to High settings. Only very high-end computers can run Unlimited without encountering CTDs. The crashes happen because you run out of memory, the campaign features the highest number of aircraft and ground units ever seen in a SF2 campaign. Nothing else we can do, the campaign data is bug free, it's all a matter of the settings and system on which you run the mod. It's also advised to set Sound Channels to 32 instead of 16, due to higher quality sounds of the mod, but your experience may vary.
  5. Do you meet minimum requirements? The mod obviously is not for low-end computers. It works fine for others on High settings.
  6. No, that mod is totally unrelated to ours, it was made by other authors and it's entirely different. There are no other means. In the download page there is a description of how to use the installer. The path for installation needs to be your Strike Fighters 2 game directory, where you have the required SF2 games installed. The mod will be installed automatically in a proper mod folder in the correct path on your system disk. We cannot provide more help than this. I just explained it and more details for installation are in the download page. If you do not know how to use the installer, nothing we can do.
  7. @Icarus999 Thanks to you! Not everyone bothers to say a simple thank you. I also want to stress out that this was all possible to teamwork and to all the support I got from awesome and talented modders. I found myself in some sort of lead role during the project, but without them the mod would have been a mere shadow of what it is now. My thanks go to @yakarov79, @guuruu, @GKABS, @Viper63a, @paulopanz, @daddyairplanes, @1977Frenchie, @dtmdragon, @Crusader, @baffmeister, @Jimbib, @ravenclaw_007, @Nyghtfall, @Veltro2k, @Dels, @RustyKurnass, @Stick. Other previous modders are also credited in the Thanks screen of the mod; many of them did contribute indirectly with their amazing past creations, still used to this day.
  8. There's no other source I know of. Please tell me where you got it from.
  9. @orsin Hi, Orsin! Yes, I know that's Centurion-1's cockpit, sadly it was left somewhat unfinished. Contact me via PM, I'd be glad to include a newer version in a future release with due credits to you. Cheers!
  10. @alecsandru1990 Why did you give the mod a 3-star review? The problem is definitely on your end, the mod works fine for pretty much everyone else. You must be doing something wrong. Do you have all required TW games installed? Are they all patched to the latest July 2013 version? Have you pointed the ODS installer to the correct location of your Strike Fighters 2 games? If you need support, this is the correct topic. You shouldn't be reviewing it badly only because it seemingly does not work on your system. It's just disrespectful, childish behavior overall. We put months if not an entire year of much hard work into this project. Most download it, some complain but few actually show gratitude for such efforts, done all for free and passion. The development team deserves more respect.
  11. Yes, you need all three. The mod makes use of many stock ground objects, aircraft and cockpits from those games. I'm actually surprised campaigns worked on your end so far, but you were also lucky not to encounter those units requiring stock assets from those games. No worries! We're here to help. Take care. @VVitchaven BTW, can you remove or delist the video you made on YT? Right now it's visible to anyone if you happen to search Strike Fighters 2 videos on YT. The issue has been addressed, I don't want others to believe the mod is broken, that's all. Thanks.
  12. No. Please let's not make wrong assumptions that only cause more confusion. The Options.ini included with the ODS mod works as is. It's obvious that if you change aircraft name to Scramble it crashes, because the game wouldn't find the required default aircraft for that game mode, that is the F-15C. You're not meeting minimum requirements. ODS requires three games: Strike Fighters 2, Strike Fighters 2 Israel and Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic. You need to install them all, and it's better that you download the latest installers from the ThirdWire store. Without any more clues, I cannot provide more help than this. It works fine for everybody else on a clean installation.
  13. There's no need of a video, I understood it in your previous post. This has nothing to do with graphics options. It seems the game fails to initialize the proper DLL library for the single missions screen. The mod has no relation to this issue, this has more to do with your Strike Fighters 2 installation. EDIT: post by Wilches below could be a good hint. Most likely your audio driver needs an update and/or different settings.
  14. Never had such an issue. I cannot replicate it on my end, it works fine on a fresh installation on my laptop. So basically it crashes to desktop once you press Missions in the main menu screen? The only plausible reason for this is that your Strike Fighters 2 installation is not up to date or is somewhat broken. ODS 30AE is built to work on the latest July 2013 patch, it has not been tested on older patches featuring outdated .DLL libraries. You should reinstall the required Strike Fighters 2 games, and make sure they are updated to the latest July 2013 patch. It's explained in the mod's download page. The installer should automatically detect your Strike Fighters 2 installation folder. Make sure that the installation path points to your Strike Fighters 2 game folder, not to a custom mod folder. The installer does not allow you to choose a custom mod folder path at this time. The mod folder will be installed automatically in the proper "X:\Users\YourName\Saved Games\ThirdWire\" path, like any other mod folder created by TW's stock Strike Fighters 2 games. After installation is over, simply run the mod by using the created Desktop and/or Start Menu links. Make sure that you run the installer with admin rights, and that no third-party antivirus programs interfere with it.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS

LOL, of course not. That is an amateur print I made for myself, though it might look very professional. However, you can do it too! If you download the ODS 30AE package, inside the Goodies folder you'll find a high resolution PDF of the DVD cover I created, the very same one I showed. You can print it and add it to a blank DVD case. You can even burn the package, which is an .ISO disk image, to a DVD!
  16. Fans of ThirdWire's Strike Fighters, I'm glad to announce the Christmas release of Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition. This huge and quality total conversion has seen two Early Access releases this year, one back in January 16th and the other on August 2nd. Once available to site subscribers only, now we offer an updated version of the package to all CombatACE users as our Christmas gift, regardless of a subscription. There have been usual bug fixes and important improvements since the last release. Make sure to read the change log and all the details in the mod's download page once it's approved. You are not required to own a subscription, but keep in mind that the mod is distributed in a hefty, yet highly compressed 3GB installer which contains 15GB of contents. You will need a stable internet connection in order to download it. The mod cannot and will not be offered in a different form. A subscription grants you unlimited number of downloads for its duration and will support the site's hosting costs. The Operation Desert Storm: 30th Anniversary Edition modification does NOT comply with CombatACE's Freeware Licensing. Various contents of this modification are exclusive, as such you are NOT allowed to share, redistribute and/or make use of the mod and/or its contents for other purposes, without the consent of the mod's developers. Contents of the modification are the copyright of their respective authors. My personal thanks to the ODS 30AE Development Team, you guys keep inspiring me with your great works and continuous support! And special thanks to @Erik and to all admins and moderators of this great place that is CombatACE. Happy Holidays, pilots of the virtual skies!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Happy Holidays! A surprise is coming soon here on CombatACE, for everyone. Take care, people.
  18. Likewise. It's not hard to imagine how difficult life has been for many others in all corners of the planet. RL and health come first. Wish you all the best for the upcoming 2022. Take care and stay safe!
  19. There is no update. Again, I just changed the page's description, but the site makes it look like the package was updated. Please don't ask again, I had already explained it here: https://combatace.com/files/file/17485-hawaii-central-pacific-1959-2028/?tab=comments#comment-12480 If there are true updates, the version number would increase and there would be a change log. Thank you.
  20. View File Ethiopia, African Horn (1993-2028) Ethiopia, African Horn (1993-2028) Terrain December 13th, 2021 (1st Release) by Menrva >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged I am proud to present a brand new terrain made from scratch! Initially proposed in private by tiopilotos, I later decided to create it in order to offer an accurate playground for different conflicts never recreated in Strike Fighters. The terrain completely covers Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti, and a great portion of Somalia and Yemen. The tileset, based on JSF_Aggie's Desert repaint and Centurion-1's Desert 4 add-on, has been greatly expanded with necessary transition tiles. Expect long and very accurate river courses and all major lakes, the reddish deserts of the Horn of Africa and the green highlands of Ethiopia. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and airstrips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range. This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look. The terrain spans from April 27, 1993 (the day Eritrea declared independence from Ethiopia) to December 31, 2028. This terrain is adapt for historical scenarios such as the Eritrean–Ethiopian War and for territorial disputes between Eritrea, Yemen and Djibouti. Somaliland is still considered as Somalia since Somaliland is not officially recognized, though you can spot the Somaliland flag over some of its cities. Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields will appear at a given date, cities change their name at a specific year and so on, all according to Real World changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops; if your mod folder contains American, British and French aircraft carriers, sometimes you'll see fleets being generated in single missions. Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed ones from Wrench's old Eritrea/Ethiopia terrain release. >Credits (in no particular order): -Wrench, for working on Wingwiner's original Eritrea terrain, producing new target area layouts. -swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs. -gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too. -mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding. -luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting! -JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included, and for the hi-res desert tileset. -Centurion-1, for expanding JSF_Aggie's tileset with more variety for the Desert4 terrain by Piecemeal. -tiopilotos, for his continuous support in all my terrain modding efforts. Thank you very much! -Stary, for old .TOD files which add trees and buildings on some tiles of this terrain. -Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine! -krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much! -comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included. Although scratch-made, the terrain makes use of most objects and target layouts from Wrench's Eritrea terrain; because of this, I included the ReadMe file from that package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not. >Disclaimer: This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
