You can store a backup of the folder maybe, but running two won't work as the same registry keys etc are used by both. Please see KNOWN ISSUES sticky for fuel/ammo. http://forum.combatace.com/topic/50795-off-hat-in-the-ring-cpu-and-gpu-loads-and-known-issues/

Multiple controllers are also covered in the FAQ, tips in there may help.

This is the problem, everyone has different experience because they fly variations of 1) different locations (some areas have more/less AA batteries) 2) different dates (later dates more AA batteries) 3) at times when battles are going on = more activity more AA. 4) different altitudes There are many techniques. AA got more accurate like anything, armies are usually very good at working out by repeated experience. One known is the AA battery already has the altitude test fired and set. For example it can be measured via friendly aircraft flying nearby at the same altitude to note. Then with this known a trap could be set, aircraft would lure an enemy into the area and at the specific known altitude and the AA let the enemy have it as they pass. And as been said above, it CAN be deadly, and if you don't like it, don't agree, just want to fly whatever, simply set it to 'easy' that's what the options are for. No one will report you for slacking - don't worry there's no "phone home" in there

Serious issues install Hat in the Ring
Polovski replied to wsmwsm's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You should not get runtime errors, could be down to anything including previous corruption on files, etc. Maybw you need to totally remove BH&H, then reinstall, then patch BH&H to 1.32 superpatch, THEN patch to the BH&H 1.32G MINI PATCH, then install HitR. When you are installing the patches make sure each one completes successfully. -
Indeed. There are also settings for AA fire in Workshops btw - if you make it less accurate it's also less useful to spot enemies with.

You then need to provide the drivers on for your controller via a FLOPPY DISK, that's the sucker with XP. Check your motherboard manufacturer's site, there's usualyl drivers and some are to be put on a Floppy disk for initial setup. Also often a USB floppy disk drive will work there the first time it looks, and read it, then later on in the install it looks again then cannot see the USB floppy disk drive :( (in that case you need a real old floppy disk drive LOL). So you can slipstream drivers into the XP install CD (basically build a new XP CD with the disk controller drivers in already (plenty of websites for that out there). That's why I like Windows 7 now it's either built in or can even read drivers from USB stick during install.

Flying low is not a great idea over any ground fire, and you still have to weave some. It also matters what year you fly. 1918 there's a lot more of it and by then they had got the skills sorted to nail you easier ;)

Sounds like you have some spyware. Get AdAware (free version) or SpyBot (free) and kill the little bleeders.

PCGamer Review of BOBII Version 2.10
Polovski replied to buddye's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Great news Buddye! You deserve some publicity for all the hard work. Hope it gives you a good boost too - look forward to reading it. OFF P1 was in PC Gamer US some time ago, in a short review (can be found on our website), maybe one day we'll get in there again. All the best! -
Thanks Shred indeed I did As I said, no need to keep pounding away BH, we got it already.

Missions too long & trouble with warping
Polovski replied to Crockett12's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just stick it on 2x or 4x time etc. ctrl+shift+e ctrl+shift+r Just make sure you are flying high enough and straight enough if you go faster than that you can lose control easily. (no you can't change these keys they are hidden ones in CFS3). -
One tip, make sure you use half screen resolution setting in Fraps, and start and stop recording often as the videos become HUGE (you need lots of free space). You can delete and compress later with movie maker or something.

Yep we have to test.

Please don't mess around with the files would hate more problems to occur, hang in there until we release the official update.

For the record DH5 is quoted in many places as 102 MPH max speed (not Knots). But that is at 10K. Therefore at SL although it should be faster it cannot be faster if we believe those quotes (or SL speed would be quoted as the max speed ;)) so it could be incorrect stats, or some oddities that caused it to under perform at low alt. At 6500 there are quotes of 104 for the prototype which differed in performance to later versions anyway. btw in one test the Plywood version was 97 MPH @10k. not even 102, and that was tested with a lighter pilot, and less load than other tests so may have been even worse. "Technical Details The D.H.5 was a single seat fighter that first flew in combat in 1917. It was powered by a 110 hp (80 kW) Le Rhone 9 cylinder rotary engine. This unit provided only 100 mph (160 km/H)," "...the aircraft required a vast deal of knowledge and experience to be able to handle effectively in a firefight and the DH.5 was in operational service for no longer than 8 months on any front. By 1918, the DH.5 was no longer an option." Jane's suggests performance cause was the back-stagger. Speed at 10000ft. 102 m.p.h. Speed at 15000ft. 89 m.p.h. (other comments suggest performance was affected after weight was added to strengthen the fuselage). Above 10k it was a dog. It was normally restricted to 9,000ft in the 3rd group for obvious reasons (very poor altitide) lowest of a stagger -even Pups above LOL. Several of the official tests were in the prototype which seemed to perform better, (and often wildly differing!) there are several climb charts and with the plywood covered fuselage (modelled in HitR) that do not show climb tests to 16K I suspect they gave up ;). Anyway I will check it some when I have time. No need to keep hammering home it's not good. It wasn't good, but maybe there's something not working right I can tweak.

You do have effects slider on 5 btw ?
-
It should already be there when you fly the first time, but otherwise press F4 a few times to cycle views until it appears. If you get one view with no aircraft to be seen then you also pressed F3 by mistake. Press it once again, then the cockpit should appear. (This is assuming you are not flying a mission made by someone else).
-
Or you are trying to fly an AI aircraft in a 3rd part mission (AI aircraft have no cockpit). Try flying another aircraft in QC.

OFF was acting quirky so...
Polovski replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
I'm glad you are kidding :) -
Hit full throttle and fly straight ;) See FAQ :).

Try setting OFF and CFS3.exe to run as administrator too, also OFFLOG will show nothing as your sim is crashing out inside CFS3 itself not the OFF manager. Warp usually eats texture memory for breakfast if you leave it running, and often high end cards are using lots of power and cooks some anyway. Break warp up more often, i.e come out sooner. Reduce sliders a notch for terrain and scenery. If you have ground density up high reduce by 1. Close background tasks etc. Try checking settings in NVidia panel too, I remember some settings for the type of AA used used to cause issues before, try setting up as per the FAQ tips.

Yeah great film with a good story. Also good for male or female viewers for a change :)

We often have these threads I usually bring up the "where is <insert my favourite craft here> ?" ;) Love to have a Fok DII or whatever just time, and what else is more important and so on but who knows we like to surprise people too :)
