  1. Iceland is nothing special on anyones PC - would look just as good/bad running it on the Matrix. Pretty good rig youve got going there - dont skimp on the gfx card go higher end if possible.
  2. His analysis of the raids make good/funny reading - and he probably has some valid points - fuel usage - and the SHAR could deliver bombs more accurately - only needed to put 2 on the runway and it would have beaten the Vulcan! - still cant imagine that a single Iron bomb (or 2) would keep the runway out of action for long (and it didn't by the looks of things). Although there is the Strategic argument to justify the Black Buck raids - even if Mirages operated CAPs over the Islands I fail to see how that would have been a disaster. It would have made things more challenging certainly - but the Mirage IIIs did CAP on the first few days and were hopelessly outmatched - poor missiles, no countermeasures, and poor tactics (fighting/welded wing). Wiki (from the official FAA Magazine no less ) mentions that Mirage 3s were still used as decoys during strikes by the Argentine FAA so they were not all withdrawn after the raids if thats the case.
  3. Good luck with that WM - hope it goes well
  4. Using radar on F-14 http://www.thirdwire.com/man/sf2/Strike_Fighters_2.htm
  5. What are your graphics settings on Jug?
  6. Not sure that was ever admitted by the Argentinians - certainly they never bothered making Port Stanley runway long enough to allow jet ops - no Jet fighters were ever based on the Islands that I know of during their brief stay.
  7. A nice film - but it doesn't even mention there was more than 1 raid - think about 5 in total and 2 of them were anti radar strikes - on the second raid they forgot to arm the bombs according to Sharkey.
  8. SF2E needs a lot more resource than WOV - so suspect your system isnt up to it - do yo know what type of gfx card you have? Go to Start -> type dxdiag - run that, save the output to your desktop then post up here.
  9. Pah - and now you have reminded him - thanks a lot
  10. Hmmm - pretty sure the speech files must go in: ........\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\Speech
  11. Yep - was reported on TW also
  12. Pretty sure the cosmetic appearance in those screenshots does not show the limits of what can be done with this new terrain Engine!
  13. Was out of gas in an F-14 and tried to land their having no idea it was so short - had to eject before it went into the water
  14. Yak-38 data.ini has these entries: [MissionData] NationName=SOVIET ........ CarrierParkSpan=4.55 CarrierParkAnimationID=9 hmmm?? I wonder if they go for a stroll round the deck when you are off on a mission.
  15. Looks like the wing spoilers are deactivated when you hit ~M1 - thats whats causing the lack of roll - although not sure whether there is a final wing move past 57 degrees when M1 is hit - doesn't look like it So probably controlled by the var in the data.ini
  16. The control surfaces used to be limited and had no control over certain airspeeds on the MiG-17s FM - and you can probably still limit it using the same vars - but TK has spiced up the MiG-17s to make them more of a challenge I guess. As I understand it the evaluated captured MiG-17s had non powered ailerons - but other surfaces were powered. I seem to remember Grr viper pulling info out of manuals that suggested some Soviet MiG-17s actually had powered ailerons as well.
  17. Does the F-14A use only wing spoilers to roll in RL? Havent seen that - do you have the location to give to TK?
  18. Go start - then type "cleanup" into the search box - disk cleanup will appear (well it does on 7) if not there is a much longer way
  19. So you are deleting the stock folders but the game keeps putting them in each time you run it?
  20. Glad to have you here
  21. He must have seen the Red Tails trailer and got carried away
