  1. have just tried downloading from http://www.column5.us/miragef.shtml - but my AV software screams blue murder and tells me its "Adware.win32.eshopper.p" as soon as I save it to the desktop. It may be okay - but because its coming down as an .exe - it may just be a false positve - though best if C5 checks it out I reakon
  2. Happy Birthday to ya!
  3. Yep taking an interest in the Nam air war certainly gives WOV that immersive factor that wouldnt be there otherwise - More I read the more I mod it I suppose - even 4 years later I havnt even began to cover some of the aircraft used in it in that much detail - the EB-66C/Es spend 99% of their time as AI recon or transport craft for example.
  4. Now that looks like the type of thing that would appear in a Dale Brown fantasy!

  8. B-52 Airborne Electronic Attack Technical Maturation Contract awarded Written on June 27, 2008 – 9:25 pm | by FIDSNS | The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] has been awarded a $14.9 million contract by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to develop and mature technologies required to enable airborne electronic attack from long distances, filling the stand-off electronic attack role. The contract includes systems engineering studies focusing on potential pod installation on the B-52H aircraft, as the designated demonstration airframe. This effort will advance the technology required for the planned Core Component Jammer (CCJ). “We look forward to maturing the planned CCJ technology, which will keep our warfighters safer as they complete missions in the air and on the ground,” said Scot Oathout, director of B-52 Programs for Boeing. “This is the first step in getting this capability fielded, and the B-52H is the right platform to mature this technology.” The multi-mission B-52H is the only platform in the Air Force inventory that accommodates all necessary attributes for jamming electronic attacks while delivering its full complement of weapons, including responsiveness, range, loiter time, size and power. “Adding this capability to the B-52H will strengthen its position as the most versatile aircraft in the U.S. inventory,” said Jeff Weis, CCJ program manager for Boeing. “The B-52 will still be able to deliver precision weapons on target while protecting other allied forces in theater.” The Boeing-led team will employ the electronic-attack expertise of Bethpage, N.Y.-based Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems. After successful completion of this initial three-year effort, a follow-on effort to demonstrate in-flight, stand-off jamming on the B-52 is scheduled for 2011-2012. from Article

  10. Have seen plenty of Navy F-16 camo schemes over the years - but I only saw this F-15 one a few months back
  11. Wasnt sure there were that many over here - now I know! WASHINGTON: The United States has removed its nuclear arsenal in Britain, ending its half-century deployment there and reducing its European nuclear deployment to six locations in five countries, a report said. The withdrawal follows the removal of nuclear weapons from the Ramstein Air Base in Germany in 2005 and Greece in 2001, according to the The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) Strategic Security Blog, citing unidentified sources. The United States now has an estimated 150 to 240 B61 nuclear bombs scattered in Europe -- at the US Air Force bases at Aviano AB in Italy and Incirlik in Turkey, and at four European bases, in Belgium, Germany, Holland and Italy, the blog said. In November 2000, then president Bill Clinton authorized the Pentagon to deploy 110 nuclear bombs at the Royal Air Force Lakenheath air base, 113 miles (70 miles) northeast of London, the report said. There were 480 atomic bombs in Europe at the time, it said. President George W. Bush updated the authorization in May 2004 with an apparent order to remove the nuclear weapons from Ramstein, the blog said. The directive might have also authorized the pullout from Lakenheath, it said. Asked by reporters Thursday if the reported withdrawal was true, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said: "I haven't gotten that question since I've been secretary of defense, but I think I'm not supposed to talk about that." 12. You need to install the skin pack installer from the gamers tools for the skins - and I think there is a mod pack installer too - However they both come with good instructions in pdfs so just follow them. (Download the skins you want (.skn files) to a single folder IMO) You really need to get the Terrain HiTiles for AF if you can - so worth it http://www.hitiles.com/indexF4AF.htm If you want a 3D pit upgrade then Zerk has done a free pit - see some old threads below
  13. Not unless he can reach over to the other side I guess
  14. The bbc have an article on that today - its made of Carbon Fibre which reduces its weight a lot apparently
  15. One problem is that if you have to go guns on a large flight - you don't always have the time to take out enough of them by setting up proper attacks - so its easy to get shot down panicking because you are trying to rush things! The AI wingmen are hopeless - they attack straight from behind - with the normal results!
  16. My moneys on Spain - probably because Im a Liverpool fan - and the fact that they actually play good football. They will be against a German team that play a solid and well organised system - but dont have players that are anywhere near what they used to be IMO and have been riding their luck so far.
  17. Even the IL-28 is lethal if you approach from behind it with guns only - you need to fly level to one side of it then turn into its side (easier with a trackir) or attack from the front. TU-16s are a nightmare - so its usually a mixture of things including diving down or climbing from below them at high speed!

Think 24 posts classifies you as being a newbie still :beta1: Good old days! - I dont think so - the dark ages more like - its alright being nostagic but I really dont want to go back to things like that ever!!
  19. Here are some shots from Allied Force in 1280x1024 on a GeForce7600 - You must remember that AFAIK the game uses a slightly enhanced version of the original Falcon 4 graphics engine from 1998 If you have seen better graphics than these then you have been looking at shots from Red Viper I imagine
  20. If you are talking about AF screenshots - To improve the ground Most people use Hitiles which is a payware add on - basically a high resolution with 4 different seasons for Korea and the Balkans - well worth it The graphics on the planes/weapons themselves can be improved by changing the skins - for F-16 skins try Redbirds (from the gamers tools) or from Janhas- you need to get the skin pack installer - also at gamers tools. Not many of the other jets have been done - if you look in the downloads section here there are some for some of the jets that have missing skins. There is a free 3d pit from zerk to replace the stock one If you already have these - then you may need to change the Anti Aliasing /Anis Filtering etc settings on your graphics card in the advanced settings. The best resolution for AF is probably around 1600x1200 - but most people probably dont have a monitor to support that.
  21. If you mean the black and white scheme - its not that new because I was asked to do a skin for it about 7 months ago - and f-16 net had a few good pics back then
  22. Although its old WOV should be brought to the same level as WOI with the next patch - so you will still have an up to date game which is unique in being the SEA theatre. You could get either or both WOI/WOE for the different stock jets/cockpits/terrains/campaigns - or you could just mod multiple versions of WOV (a lot). At the mo WOI is the most advanced and well worth getting IMO
  23. 3) Has been an issue since the original Strike Fighters was released - if the plane still rolls to one side after releasing all your bombs then a way to trim it out again is to jettison the bomb racks.
  24. Watched it for a bit - Turkey are doing better than expected!
