So my other computer will not power up at all...have taken it to like 3 different people/shops and no one can figure it out. Changed out the power switch, tested the PSU, nada. A Japanese computer store even took the components out and tested them separately and things work...they took a resistance-thingy to it and found no bad wires. So what could be wrong? Tried a different motherboard, nada. I know what the effects of bad ram looks like, not it. Bad HDD, not it. Suggestions?

Well, when was the last time you updated your video drivers? If you have not changed them in a while, it may help. I do that funky thing they tell you not to do, whereas I sometimes do not delete the old drivers...have done the remove everything, install freshest driver and had odd things happen...re-install old drivers with new ones on top and things panned out better (may have to do with the mix of ancient programs and new that I like to use, maybe imagination). It shouldnt work, but so far it does for me...one really has to just tweak stuff until it bends into submission
