  1. I'm doing a Pacific World War 2 install, and i kind of wanted to do it in the old school hard way (without HUDs). The instrument gauges are a bit problematic since some world war 2 cockpits have lower details in them so they are hard to spot but the even harder bit is actually locating the enemy aircraft since there are no search radars to compensate for the lack of HUDs. I always call the tactical air control center and ask then the location of nearby bandits every few dozen nautical miles but they just always give me the all-clear (even at the mission waypoint) so I try to manually locate enemies but still just spend minutes circling round and round without action. (having read a few books, i know this is actually quite realistic, world war 2 wise but meh ) I'm just curious how do you guys do it? am i missing something? please share some bits to me as I am a Sukhoi Flanker dude who's having way too much fun flying P-40s and Zeroes.
  2. View File Partial Phillipines44 campaign - help! Help! This has been an attempt to make a fictional 1944 campaign around Wrench's very nice Phillipines terrain. https://combatace.com/files/file/14171-phillipines-islands-1944-ww2-pto-terrain-for-sf2/ After reading 'Race of Aces' (great book - get it) I wanted to fly and fight many types of aircraft on that terrain. This is my first try at a campaign, and it uses a lot of gutting and reverse engineering from: Regula50's https://combatace.com/files/file/16491-tainan-kokutai-new-guinea-1942-campaignpart-1/ and -2 Pcpilot's https://combatace.com/files/file/13709-solomons-campaign/ Hope you guys don't mind - it's how I learn. Also much thanks to all the various aircraft downloads from this site I've used. This is a great community. If you don't have the various aircraft, just edit the ini's I tossed various planes around on the bases. Again, no attempt at historical accuracy. Problem: The US aircraft all seem there and working, but only two groups of Japanese are working. A6M7/Lahug Field and J2M1/La Carlotta Field. I can't get the rest of the Japanese aircraft to appear. No idea what's wrong.... -I've tried moving aircraft around on the various airbases -lengthened the runways in the terrain folder in case the planes needed longer ones -increased the max number of squadrons allowed on the airbases in the terrain folder -various other hail mary attempts I've forgotten about. There are a lot of values and parameters I still don't understand in the ini's. If anyone wants to try to fix this and repost it I'd appreciate it. 4. If you look closely at Mustang in the Foreground, mounted dorsally behind the normally included antenna you should note the inclusion of a directional loop antenna. Other pics have the loop installed on other CBI/PTO 'Stangs. Its unusual but I believe had downloaded files where a pic in the 'outer' opackage had the mod, but inside the pack at the 'plane level the 'loadnig' or 'hanger' screen (of the same plane) does not have the loop. Obviously, the pic could be 'modded.' Maybe the fake pilot method was utilized. If anyone could clear up the mystery, thanks. An double thnks if you know how to get this mod. I finally bit the bullet and got me some YAP. I wanted to fly from le Shima escorting the YAP B-29 to the home islands with skinned TW P-51D/Ks etc 5th Air Force Mustang ReadMe.txt
  5. Major overhaul of P-40 markings and theater bands etc. Serial numbers are different to aircraft numbers on the cowling as the cowling number was given in theater depending on the servicing unit the aircraft was assigned to. P-40E Home Defense Squadrons (including Tonga and Fiji) P-40K Operational Squadrons (Guadalcanal/ Solomon Islands etc) P-40M Operational Squadrons (Guadalcanal/ Solomon Islands etc) Single P-40L delivered to the RNZAF by mistake, however it was assembled in New Zealand and flown briefly before it was shipped back to the USA. P-40N Operational Squadrons (Guadalcanal/ Solomon Islands etc) and OTU (Operational Training Unit) Squadrons 488 (NZ) Squadron Buffalo Mk.I defending Singapore (in vain) 488 (NZ) Squadron Hurricane Mk.IIb (Buffalo loss replacments) defending Singapore at the bitter end PBY-5

  8. File Name: StrikeFighter2 World War II PTO Hi-Res Alternate 1024x768 Menu Screens and Music! File Submitter: viper63a File Submitted: 29 July 2015 File Category: Menus StrikeFighter2 World War II PTO Hi-Res Alternate 1024x768 Menu Screens and Music! By Viper I recently downloaded the "All inclusive SF2 Pacific Theater of Operations" (PTO) package from the A-Team site. Excellent package, but the menus were not to my liking...soooo...I upgraded them. These menu screens are tailored for that package, but it should work for any SF2 game with a Pacific WWII theme! Note: These are new Menu Screens for the A-Team PTO Package - NOT THE A-TEAM PTO PACKAGE. If you want the SF2 Pacific Theater of Operations package, you will have to download it from the A-Team site. A little tricky getting registered, but I recommend it! You should unzip the file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better. If you choose to install these screens, I recommend that you back up (make a copy of) your FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders in the SF2 Mod folder you're installing this mod into. Just in case you want to go back to your original setup. To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder. To remove, simply delete the FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders and rename the copies you made to FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders. My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97 64-bit would be something like... C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\<Name of your PTO mod folder>\ Enjoy! PS. Check out my Init Screen mod in the "InitScreen Extra" folder... Click here to download this file

File Name: P-40S SuperHawk SF2 ('What If') File Submitter: dtmdragon File Submitted: 26 October 2014 File Category: What If Hangar P-40S SuperHawk This is a fictional upgrade of the P-40N Warhawk. Background: With the XP-40Q project failing to get of the ground Curtiss came up with an upgrade to the existing late model P-40 airframes that would give them performance on par with the XP-40Q and the P-51D. The resulting P-40S SuperHawk performs so well it rapidly becomes one of the front line fighters of choice. It will even go on to serve in the Korean War alongside the P-51D. The upgrade: - 2200HP Packard V-2250 engine (Packard built Merlin 1710 upgraded to 2200HP). - Four-bladed Rotol propeller. - 4 x 20mm Hispano Mk II cannons. - K-14 gyro gunsight. - Range: 650 mi (560 nmi, 1,100 km400 nmi (459 mi, 740 km). - Service ceiling: 43,500 ft (13,258 m). - Rate of climb: 3,650 ft/min (18.5 m/s). I have included skins for every late war WWII theatre the P-40 operated in as well as a ‘what if’ USAF WWII ETO and Korea skin. There are skins for the RAAF, RAF, RNZAF, USAF and Soviet Airforce. 12. File Name: SF2 WW2 PTO RNZAF P-40E/K/M/N Kittyhawk Pack File Submitter: dtmdragon File Submitted: 06 October 2014 File Category: P-40 SF2 WW2 PTO RNZAF P-40E/K/M/N Kittyhawk Pack A total of 301 P-40s were allocated to the RNZAF under Lend-Lease, for use in the Pacific Theater, although four of these were lost in transit. The aircraft equipped 14 Squadron, 15 Squadron, 16 Squadron, 17 Squadron, 18 Squadron, 19 Squadron and 20 Squadron. RNZAF P-40K/N/M squadrons were successful in air combat against the Japanese between 1943 and 1944 (RNZAF P-40E never saw combat). Their pilots claimed 100 aerial victories in P-40, whilst losing 20 aircraft in combat. Geoff Fisken, the highest scoring British Commonwealth ace in the Pacific, flew P-40s with 14 Squadron, although half of his victories were claimed with the Brewster Buffalo. The overwhelming majority of RNZAF P-40 victories were scored against Japanese fighters, mostly Zeroes. Other victories included Aichi D3A "Val" dive bombers. The only confirmed twin engine claim, a Ki-21 "Sally" (misidentified as a G4M "Betty") fell to Fisken in July 1943 From late 1943 and 1944, RNZAF P-40s were increasingly used against ground targets, including the innovative use of naval depth charges as improvised high-capacity bombs. The last front line RNZAF P-40s were replaced by Vought F4U Corsairs in 1944. The ex combat P-40s joined the P-40E in New Zealand OCU Squadrons relegated to use as advanced pilot trainers. The name Kittyhawk was generally retained throughout the aircraft's' service with the RNZAF, even when the later models' official name was Warhawk. Included are 4 Royal New Zealand Air Force specific aircraft with a total of 11 skins. - P-40E Kittyhawk RNZAF - P-40K Kittyhawk (Warhawk) RNZAF - P-40M Kittyhawk (Warhawk) RNZAF - P-40N Kittyhawk (Warhawk) RNZAF INSTILATION: Drop files into your mods folders, override when prompted.
