  2. C-64 SID Music for SFP1/WOV

    Because the stock music sucks, here's a pack that replaces it with catchy old-school SID tunes from the following games/composers:

    LightForce - Rob Hubbard
    X-Out - Michael Hendriks
    Turrican - Stefan Hartwig/Ramiro Vaca
    Rambo II - Martin Galway
    Bionic Commando - Tim Follin

    Be sure to back up your original files as these tunes might be an "acquired taste".

    Cheers,

  4. JetPit

    A replacement for the default "wind loop" sound in SF/WoV/WoE. This is the speed-dependent sound that one hears in the cockpit, during flight above 150 knots IAS. The supplied sound is closer to what one might hear in-cockpit during flight in a real jet aircraft.

  5. Polak's SpeechMod V1.0

    This is replacement of entire content of SPEECH folder for the above and replacement slightly altered of SPEECHSYSTEM.ini to be placed in FLIGHT folder.
    Basically, I have altered each of the sounds changing them slightly to add some kind of authentic feel of VHF radio transmission. You be the judge if it sounds better. Few (30) real sound clips were added:
    In the future installments I ... and you can add more of the clips when and if found. So for the time being I hope you enjoy what you find here.

  7. Ejection Audio

    These files will replace the "I've been hit" or "Taking damage" audio. I at first replaced the "I'm ejecting" audio but found that those files are almost never heard (I purposefully lost dozens of 8 ship flights and never heard that audio clip". These were taken from Vietnam dogfight audio sequences, they work perfectly for me, so here's hoping they do for y'all too.

  11. MI-24 Sound

    This sound file is a beefier version of the file that comes with mi-24 from combatace.

    It is the same file but has been adjusted in WinXP Sound Recorder - used effects option to slow sound speed by 100%.

    Thanks to Capun, Charles & Kesselbrut.

    You can use the Sound Recorder to enhance any sound file to make it louder, meaner - try adding echo to afterburners.

  12. USN_Sounds.zip (Replacements for F/A-18A)

    Recent post by USAFMTL pointed to the sound files listed in the _data.ini for the (Mirage Factory) F/A-18A as a possible source of CTDs in WoE.

    I'd been getting the dreaded black screen and CTD when hitting ESC to exit an F-18 mission. It didn't happen every time, but enough...

    Rather than just point the _data.ini to other sound files, I opened them in a sound editor and reformated them to 16bit/11kHz, matching the default sound files in the game.

    (Other add-on sound files are in other formats, and don't seem to cause a problem, but none of them match up with the F-18 sound file formats.)

    Tested these sound files... haven't had a CTD yet. Can't guarantee it's "the answer", but here are for testing.

    Just unzip and put them in \Sounds folder, replacing the files that are already there.

  13. Gramps Russian Speech Pack

    Here is the only third party speech pack for Strike Fighters to date: it includes files that will turn your Strike Fighters experience "Red"! The files are freeware from the EECH Helicopter Sim, converted by me for use in Strike Fighters.

    The Russian Speech Pack will replace all stock speech files, so it is highly recommended that a clean install of Strike Fighters is used for your "Soviet Strike Fighters Project" experience.

    Now be warned - this Speech Pack is for immersion only. Whilst the phrases are actual Russian, and actual combat/flight phrases, the probably will not make much sense to an actual Russian speaker. Due to the different way SF builds a sentance compared to EECH, and my limited Russian, many phrases will be gramatically incorrect. No complaints from Russian speakers, ok! They sure sound good when you're flying a MiG though!

    Also, the sound quality is not as good as stock SF speech, must be those Russki radios! And you'll have to read the radio chatter to know what's going on....

    Installation:

    1/ Back up your Speech Folder - or preferably do a clean install of SF for the Soviet Strike Fighters Project.

    2/ Unzip the Gramps Speech Pack file. Copy the files from the Speech Pack folder and paste them into the Speech Folder.

    3/ Go on a mission and defend The Rodina!

    Also in the file is a new Russian mainscreen wav file:

    The Soviet National Anthem (recently re-introduced by Putin as the Russian National Anthem). The file was a MP3 file from Timaham's Funet Russian Archive site, converted into WAV format for use in Strike Fighters.

    This version is music only, I personally use a version by The Red Army Choir (also from Timaham's site), which was a 3.5MEG MP3 file I again converted to WAV for use in Strike Fighters. I had hoped to have this version available for download, but the MP3 came to 19MEG when converted to WAV - too big for me to upload unfortunately. If you have a sound editor and can convert files yourself, go to Timaham's site:

    http://www.funet.fi/pub/culture/russian/ht...ges/soviet.html

    and download this MP3 file and convert it yourself. There are also other version available but The Red Army Choir's version is the best, IMHO. As stated, SF uses WAV format files, and they need to be 8 bit stereo, and unsigned.

    Installation:

    1/ Back up your Mainscreen WAV found in the Menu Folder. The Mainscreen BMP is in a cat file, so no need to back up.

    2/ Copy and paste both Mainscreen files from my zip into the Menu Folder, and you're good to go.

    3/ I have made this WAV file to replace the stock mainscreen WAV file, if you like my file and would like it to play in other screens, just copy and rename to whatever screen you want the music to play in (such as BaseScreen, CreditsScreen, SingleMissionScreen etc.)

    Enjoy!

  14. Inflight Radio Chatter Final

    Final: Changed sequence and cleaned up a bit (removed various tone sounds to lessen confusion with ingame tones). Now includes Stock Soundlist.ini with adjustments to it for this mod. Already in proper folders so unzip-drag and drop and it will overwrite.

    2.0 UPDATE: Longer 23 minutes worth

    This replaces stock windloop with 23 minutes of actual vietnam/modern era communications. Gives the game a really cool feel while in flight.

    Changes needed in respective aircraft data.ini which need to be extracted via SFP1 extractor located in D/l utilities section.

    EXAMPLE: A-4B Data.ini
    [sound]
    EngineSoundName=A4Engine
    AfterburnerSoundName=
    DamagedEngineSoundName=Planefire
    FlapsSoundName=Flaps
    AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes
    GearsSoundName=Gear
    WindSoundName=windloop <----- This line needs to be added in aircraft data.ini

    NOTE: Engine noise may overshadow this sound...you will need to decrease volume level for all engine sounds including afterburner.

    This can be done with sound recorder which is included in windows...it can be found under start/programs/accessories/entertainment. Open the engine sound and decrease volume level to your liking then save.

    As always backup originals in case you don't like it.

    http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?download=1788

    You must change any/all carrier addons or stock as per below in the respective carrier data.ini

    [sound]
    EngineSoundName=CVNAmbient
    MovementSoundName=CVNMovement

    Stock data.ini can be extracted via SFP1 extract utility.

    CVNAmbient.WAV Goes into sounds folder

    Soundlist.ini Goes into flight folder

    MUCH THANKS TO DIGITAL OVERLOAD!!!

  17. Soviet Comms

    This file represents 2 minutes and 33 seconds of chatter between a flight of Soviet fighters and their controller as they are vectored in to engage a flight of enemy aircraft (dodging SAMs in the process ). It should add a least a smidgen of immersion to your SF experience while you're out tearing around in your favorite MiG or Sukhoi product.

  20. IR_Growl_Lock

    This is a re worked IR Growl Lock sound file. It will allow you to hear when you are locked on to an enemy plane with IR missles much easier. Works MUCH better than the original (in my opinion). It has increased my kill ratio in game.

  22. SFP1_WoV_SPV3

    11/26/2004

    This soundpack is meant to supersede my previous soundpacks (sfp1_spv1 & sfp1_spv2), and is specifically tailored for, and was tested on, Wings Over Vietnam with Service Pack 1, and Strike Fighters with Service Pack 3.

    What's new in this version? Correct tracer colors for WoV, new tracer colors for Nato MG's, more intense flak effects, adjusted volumes (hoooray!), new sounds for: all stock MiGs, A-4s, NR-30 cannon.

    Installation Notes: Before you begin, I strongly suggest that you have Skypat's SFP1E extraction utility (available at http://www.checksix-fr.com/ ), and familiarize yourself with its operation. You're going to find it indispensable!

    TO INSTALL: simply extract the contents of this zip file into your Strike Fighters or WoV folder. That's all!

    Warning: It will overwrite the following files (if you have them). Please back up the following, by dragging them to a safe place on your system:

    1) Your entire "sounds" folder.
    2) In your flight folder, backup your "soundlist.ini"
    3) In your objects folder, backup your "gundata.ini"

    If you don't find the last two, don't worry, you're just running a default installation
