      KA-6D Skins Readme

To install just extract the skin to your Objects/Aircraft/KA-6D folder, load up your sim and then go fly! The skin should be available in the drop down menu of the KA-6D Hangar Screen loadout section.

Thanks must go to the following:

Paul Nortness for his work in creating the skins (I just converted them for use with the KA-6D) and for his kind permission in allowing me to bring the skins to the SF community

The creators of the A-6 and KA-6 for bringing us these planes to play with.

TK for SF, WOV, WOE, FE and who knows what else.

      Have fun, and good hunting...

    3. MiG-23 "Flogger" fighter series-ini tweaks

This is an "ultimate" tweak of .ini files for entire MiG-23 "Flogger" fighter series (M, MS, MF, ML, MLD) originally made by Rafael in order to bring them closer to real-life performance&behavior in SFP1/WOE (including some avionics tweaks). It also solves the main problem of too low sea-level speed and "jumpy" landing gear (and many bad AI landings, but not all :))

Information is gathered from MiG-23ML/UB manuals, books, writings of former Flogger pilots on forums... should be pretty close to original(s).

There is also a folder containing "spinoff" MiG-23P .ini files, for which use you will need some files from MiG-23ML directory copied (and renamed) there. If you don't wish to use it, simply don't copy the folder and/or pertaining .ini files.

Credits to original authors: Rafael, BPAo, Armourdave, Sal, Gramps, Pasko, Column5, USAFMTL, Crab_02, Sony Tuckson, Phantuam, Marcell, and other authors of original files.

      Special thanks to Fubar!

    5. Suez 2 terrain

      SUEZ 2 TERRAIN Version 2.0
      *************************

Suez 2 terrain is a version of my Israel2 terrain with the borders pre 1967 Six Days War and with enhanced tilesset. The main difference between Suez 2 and Suez terrain is, that Suez 2 is now sized nearly correct, while Suez terrain size was only 60% of real. The number of target areas is increased from 94 to 346. New areas with targets are the Golan heights and the Westbank.
In Suez 2 terrain you will find Lebanon as neutral contry, Syria is holding the Golan heights, Jordan is owner of the Westbank and Egypt rules the Sinai and the Gaza strip.
The SAM fence along the Suez Canal is not installed, because it was built between 1970 and 1972. Only some point defence SAM you will face over the Sinai, close to Kairo and near Beni Suef Airbase.
Suez2 terrain is more smooth than Israel2 terrain. If you want to have the same roughness like in Israel2 terrain simply copy files Israel2.hfd into Suez2 folder and rename it into Suez2.hfd.

      ***************************************
      Suez 2 Terrain INSTALLATION instruction:

Unzip all files into your Terrain folder. Thats it.

    8. New Summer Euro WW2 tiles for Edward & Charles' "War over Europe" terrain

This is a replacement set of tiles and INI files to bring Edward & Charles' EAW-derived "War over Europe" WW2 Euro terrain up to the latest patch standards (3-D clouds, animated water and terrain noisemap). Included is Polak's water noisemap from his DesertPR tiles and the correct FX files to get the animated water etc. Also included is a modified Environmentalsys INI based on that from Nato Fighters for WoE.

Thanks Polak, Column 5 & TK.

My tiles are largely based on Edward's FE Flanders Terrain tiles (themselves partly derived from modified Flight Simulator 2004 tiles & Thirdwire tiles), with elements of tiles from Thirdwire's/Deuces enhanced WoE tileset and Paul Wilson's (?) Summer EAW tiles.

      Thanks Edward, Deuce & Paul.

The tiles will also work with the EAW Euro Cold war terrain available at Combat Ace.

      Enjoy!

    14. 488 Sqdn RNZAF Hurricane IIB

488 Squadron, RNZAF, Hurricane IIB Skin, for SF/WoV/WoE PTO installs ONLY

New skin for the Dev A-Team's Hawker Hurrican IIB.

This is just a little something I've had laying around for a lloooong time, and never got around to finishing. After looking at the skin bmp itself, I decieded to re-do the entire thing. So, you've got new panel & rivet lines, new scuffing and wear, and I tried to get some 'dirt' along the underside.

Speaking of the number decals, I don't know exactly (other than BM899) if these aircraft were actually used in the defense of Singapore, and during the retreat to Sumatra. I've also given you 12 serial numbers, although historically, only 9 Hurricanes were assigned to 488, before they were either destroyed by enemy action, or by their crews to prevent capture

Just something for use in those early, dark days of WW2 in the Pacific....

Please see the enclosed readme for more information and Install instructions

    15. 3 Soviet MiG-15 Red Nose Korea War Skins

This are 3 skins for Paskos MiG-15bis and are basing on the original skins of Pasko.
They represent 3 soviet Fighter Divisions who operated in 1951 over the MiG-Alley. In 1951 all MiG-15 units painted their MiG-15 with red high visibility markings to avoid misidentifications with F-86 Sabre. The markings of the units were different. All common was the red nose, but the size of the red area was different. Also the paintings on the tail were different. Some units had, other had not red tails.
The bord numbers were first 4 digit , later 3 digit. The color of the bord number was black, but also blue and red numbers were seen over Korea.
I used the black in this package, but if you want to have red numbers, feel free to change it.
      The Units:
The 151. IAD fought only 4 weeks in February, lost 6 MiG's and shot down 36 US planes.
The 324.IAD was commanded by Col. Iwan Koshedub. Fough from March 1951 to January 1952. Lost 24 MiG's and shot down 215 enemy planes. Top ace was Jewgeni Pepeljajew with 19 Kills (16 confirmend by US sources).
303.IAD fought from April 1951 to February 1952. It was commanded by Col. Lobow. Top ace was Nikolai Sutjagin with 21 kills (14 confirmend by US sources). The 303.IAD shot down 302 enemy planes and lost 49 MiG-15.

This is an F-100A brought to D standards. i.e. AN/APR-26(v)/AN/APS-54 tail-warning radar rearward radar warning antenna.(You will have a audible only RWR in the pit) GAR-8/AIM-9B capability. However it still lacked flaps and the refuel probe of the D model.

Skins JSF Aggie based on Boscoe's old work from 4 years ago. Original high res temps by Sundonwer. Thanks for the assist Brian. Had more Hun's to skin than I could keep up with. Thanks to Ant for the excellent temps. Thanks to Sag and MJ for the know how to remove the probe, fix the flaps and the RWR. I did a lot of updating the ini to A standards. And finally you cant have a Hun without Galanti's pit. Drop into you aircraft folder and go fly.

She flies like a wet noddle. But hey, its an A model.

Skins are 2048x2048, not for wimpy crates.

      Version 1.1
Updated ini's by MJ and starfighter. With wing fences removed, LAU-105 pylons used to hold the Winders. FM tweaks. A much more complete Taiwan F-100A Rehab. Thanks you two for your help.

    19. Siberian Sky -- The VOLCANO MOD (for strategic air warfare)

<< "I spotted an afterburner plume at twenty miles." >>

This is the only quote I recall from a Vietnam War air combat book I read back in hi~school and I forgot the title and author. The author spotted the afterburner at night, against the stars if I recall, and said it was a MiG-21. They (F-4 crew) locked it up and downed it with a Sparrow.

The VOLCANO MOD attempts to address, or bring attention to, a long missing feature in all combat jetsims: long distance visibility of afterburners especially at night. To do this, we oversize the afterburners as the sim, along with every jetsim it seems, does not model the brightness intensity of afterburner plumes. The same philosophy was used in sizing the recent 3D Rocket Exhaust effects, making larger flame plumes optional for missiles on a sliding scale of selectable effects sizes.

With the smaller of two oversized afterburner systems here, I can just see a MiG-21's pixel sized R-13 afterburner flickering from a little over 20 miles using 30 degree field of view (FOV) and 1280x1024 screen resolution. I believe that higher resolution would allow longer visible distance for any given FOV. The full size screenshot shows very late twilight F-106 AI squadron takeoff to the South, using the smaller size afterburner system. The yellow arrows point to aircraft in full afterburner following the AI leader.

The VOLCANO MOD uses specific engine names in aircraft DATA files. Any engine afterburner can be done at any time with a simple calculation. A list of engines currently modelled here and simple formulae for calculating their afterburner data are in the instruction file. These are some of the engines that will be of use in a mythological strategic strike/intercept campaign (Siberian Sky), and include engines that were used, or could be used, by Strategic Air Command (SAC) and manned Soviet Air Defense (IA-PVO) from the 1940s to the 1960s.

ThirdWire thread discussing grafix for classical era strategic air warfare: Volcanos erupt on page 3 ~> http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4964

"VOLCANO" was a name used by one or two of our Old Timer SF simmers some time ago who poked fun at an early experimental closeup cameo screenshot that I poasted (it looked pretty bad). The name stuck.

      v1.01--------------------------------------
*** ADDED TO INSTRUCTION FILE, but the replacement Zip file does not seem to upload here. So...

Grafix position of the afterburner may need to be changed to taste. This is done by changing the vector ExhaustPosition=[x,y,z], where...
-x is left, x is right.
-y is back, y is forward.
-z is down, z is up.
The numbers are in meters. I prefer the burner flame as close to the nozzle as possible, but without interacting to cause flickering of nozzle/flame.

    21. F-104G Euro Tip-Tank Fix

Replacement Euro Green 170 gallon F-104G wing-tip drop tanks.

This little package is designed to eliminate the 'upside/sideways/backwards/or whatever is wrong with the "Tank_F104G" that we've all been experiencing.

Using a repainted bmp, and the stock 3rd Wire 104G tank lods, this should correct the problem of having the fins pointed in the right direction
The only problem that still exists, is that I haven't been able to quite figure out the bmp mapping to have the '2 tone', euro green upper and neutral gray unders. To that end, I've enclosed a PhotoShop psd template, that I created, so someone with a little more skill at that can finish it perfectly.

This will update the latest Weapons Pak, circa 6/2006

These tanks can be used on BOTH the stock 3rd Wire F-104G, and the one build by Ajundair. Designed for use with German, Italian or Dutch Euro camo schemes.

Full, detailed instructions in the enclosed readme -- PLEASE read and follow them, as you'll be using the weapons editor.

    25. VMA(AW)-242 white nose markings for Razbam A-6A

VMA(AW)-242 repaint for the Razbam A-6A (white radomes)

This is part two of my VMA(AW)-242 decals, and the base model is again the recently released A-6 Intruder by Razbam. Just drop the folder into the A-6A folder and go fly. Most aircraft had black radomes early in the unit's history at Da Nang, but many later aircraft were seen with off-white radomes. It will not work with the original WOV A-6A or the add-on created by Monty CZ.

A working decal system is provided for anyone creating new markings for the plane.

      Enjoy,
